Could it be that Amon is not Tarrlok but rather his brother? If Amon was his brother, living with Tarrlok and Yakome as family, it's understandable the person he's become especially if he were a non-bender. All that bitterness from living in a zealous bender household bottled up inside to explode decades later. Just a theory though. Though there is some connection between Yakome, Amon, and Tarrlock.

Amon, Tarrlok, and Yakone are all connected. Hence all the flashbacks. I can't wait till we get some answers.

These Flashbacks are getting stranger by the minute, i remember there being one scenne in a tribunal where Aang seems to be and trying to use his hand to control something.

I believe it happens during this:

Is that Yakone?

AANG'S BEARD!!

I like.

Sorry I know this was a serious discussion concerning the villain's past but I've been out of the loop fr a bit and Aang's gaining facial hair is somewhat new to me

Great episode, I loved the car chase.

Can I be frank? I might come off as mean but why is it the first conclusion to any possible link is the whole "brother" angle.

I mean don't you guys feel that this concept has been milked to death by other series and the last thing Mike and Bryan want to do is to be cliche?

I'm sure there are connections but are they being brothers/family members the best we can come up with.

Just because something is a cliche doesn't mean it's bad.

The blood bending at any time, and energy bending, are a possible link between between Amon and Tarloc. Maybe Amon can not only take away bending, but give it back, and enhance it.

The worst offender lately is thinking it's the same guy even though their skin tones are different. There are also little personality quirks. Amon is pretty cool headed and in control; and when something unexpected happens he does not panic he just shrugs it off as if it doesn't really matter. Tarrlok on the other hand starts to loose his cool the moment things start going out of line.

Another thing to note is that Tarrlok was getting his butt whooped by Korra. Amon kicks bender butt without bending. If Tarlok had those hand-to-hand skills to take on benders without bending, then the fight with Korra would not have played out the way it did (Why throw a fight when you go out of the way to win anyway?).

To tell you the truth, I'd rather have it so they aren't related to each other at all really...makes less of the "evil family".

Is this a shot at me? Sorry my theories offend you :whatever:

Completelly agree

Oh? I was actually shooting at people elsewhere (as it's the most popular theory these days) My sister even said that they were one in the same as soon as she heard Tarrlok talk...I didn't even pay too much atttention over here...I'll have to tread through to find your post...

Hey hey, easy there.

Look guys/gals, I get that we all have expectations and theories about the show. It's part of being a fandom.

But the brothers/siblings thing was already covered in depth in the previous series. The antagonistic relationship between Iroh and Ozai, the antagonistic relationship between Zuko and Azula and the fairly normal loving relationship between Katara and Sokka.

We already have one pair of brothers in this show. I personally think that's good enough.

I think the age difference alone kinda ruins the brother theory. Father or Uncle is more likely to me.

If you mean Yakone and Tarrlok, I am inclined to agree.

If we're talking Amon and Tarrlok, I personally hope they have not blood relation whatsoever.

yeah, I mean Yakone and Tarrlok.

I'm not so sure Amon and Tarrlok have any connection at all. I'm not ruling it out, I just haven't seen anything as of yet that makes me think they're in cahoots. Tarrlok is head of the anti-Equalist task force, after all.

There are a number of fans who think he's pulling a Palpatine. It's a possibility but I think he's mainly a power-hungry, misguided Crusader of sorts. When he refers to non-Benders as "The Enemy", he seems to indicate he drew that line in the sand long ago.

Did Yakone blood bend the entire courtroom in the flashback?

That was pretty badass.

That fight with Korra and Tarrlok was the ****. I loved when Tarrlok shielded himself with water and shot ice bullets at Korra and when she did the hero pose after causing that crater with her earth bending. I thought she had him dead to rights until he used blood bending. I didnt see that coming.

As far as he and Anon, I thought they were working together in the beginning. He uses the benders to stoke resentment against benders by the non bending populace and ignite a civil war where he and Anon pick up the pieces and create a new regime where they are in power. But that changed when he made that face when Korra compared him to Anon. Seemed like he didnt appreciate that at all. Now, Im thinking theyre pretty much opposite sides of the same coin. He wants to end all rebellion against the benders and keep the status quo by opressing the non benders, while Anon wants to change everything and end bender rule by causing a war.

If he did, he did so without the use of hand motions because he was cuffed. And that is really badass.

The handcuffs make me think it wasn't him. I think it was someone else that we haven't seen yet.

Actually, upon a couple of viewings I should have guessed Tarlokk was a high-level Waterbender. You know the scene where he lassos Asami's arm during the commotion in the riot/protest. I kept wondering where the water came from.

Then I remembered what Hama said.

Tarlokk was playing all of us.

You mean about pulling water out of the air?

Air, from plants, in places you least expect.

Yeah, Hama knew the ins and outs of her art intimately. Its frightening to think that Tarrlok has the same affinity and ruthlessness.

Bloodbending actually suits Tarrlok. He is a manipulator, a two-fold puppet master.

What some fans are saying is that Katara could probably beat Tarrlok but lets not forget Katara only beat Hama essentially because Hama was pretty damn old and Katara was a prodigy of sorts and Hama was trying pressure Katara into bloodbending herself so I wouldn't say Katara "beat" Hama.

Katara's an old lady now and Tarrlok is a man in his prime. I'd say Tarrlok's chances are a lot better.

Or one could say despite how old Katara is her skills have grown immensely over 70 years. But she just probably wouldn't have the stamina to keep up with someone a lot younger than her.
