Avatar: The Legend Of Korra - Part 6

What an awful ending.

"Hey avatar you were gone for three years oh by the way the world went to hell while you were gone. Good to see you back, oh you're going on vacation instead of help fixing things that got broke while you took three years off or maybe you should be watching this new portal to another world"

She doesn't have to watch the north or south portal. What's the problem?

Whaaaaat? What show did you even watch? Korra came back and saved the day, and now is taking a much needed vacation. I wouldn't call her time away for 3 years a vacation since she spent it in a wheelchair while massively depressed and having nightmares while trying to get better. Korra got better and saved the day in the end. Her vacation could only be 4 days for all we know, she isnt leaving forever. These are good times now, and its obvious there's some more work to be done (Korra and Prince Wu are going to work together to change the political structure of the Earth Kingdom).
Did you only watch 2 episodes this season, because that's what it sounds like.

Might as well lay the same kind of blame to Aang for being gone for 100 years only to come back and resist his role as the Avatar.

That storyboard guy's off hand comment seem to have become conspiracy deal to some Makorra shippers who are having hard time dealing with the reality of their ship not being endgame.
He replied to such tumblr blog and here is what he said:
wrrprimaryblog asked: Stop misquoting me. It was always implied they were together. No animation retakes were made. No new dialogue recorded. There was never a Mako and Korra ending. If you hate the ending, then I'm sorry but do not use my name to build some conspiracy theory about last minute changes. I left the show before that episode was done being boarded. Changes are made all the time, and there other minor things as well, but I dare not speak again. I learned that lesson the hard way.
Link cause the tumblr replies to him.

He replied that the tumblr reply:
wrrprimaryblog asked: No, you got my quote right. It's just really irritating because I blurted something out because I was really happy and surprised and it's become this bickering angry thing amongst people and now I feel like I can't be happy about the show I worked on. LOTS of things change during the animatic stage. That's the stage in which you make your changes, so for them to decide to include a hand hold is not unlikely. This whole thing has just been a reminder I really shouldn't be talking. (shuts up now)

Some Makorra shippers are acting like Bryke betrayed them and this decision has wronged them.

This is what fanfic is for, I used to it soothe my Buffy/Angel heart.

I agree, I am VERY HAPPY that Bryan and Mike came out and stated, definitively, that this is canon. That Korra and Asami are indeed a couple.

"But wait!" you say "you were one of the people who said they WEREN'T a couple!" Yeah, I was, and a part of me believes what I said. However, I would be a fool to deny what has just been revealed by the creators. I both accept, and respect what they did. I know this won't end the debate with some people, but at least the ambiguity of the situation is gone.

Finally caught up on all the Episodes and finished the Finale tonight. After that last scene, I need a follow up Movie, like the last Naruto Movie.

Man, I can't believe we won't get anymore Korra. :(

I'm glad that they made them bi and not full on lesbian like what commonly happens, so that should make shippers happy, since any other ship can still happen in the future.

We need some way to send Nick a message that we want DTVs.

That's the true tragedy in all of this. And IF there was to be a third series, we all know it's going to be a while until we get it. At minimum a year.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the creators themselves, in 2 separate Tumblr posts have CONFIRMED Korrasami.

Wow. A confirmed romatically involved heroic, female, animated duo! Move over Marceline/Bubblegum and Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy, there is a new premier duo in town!

I'm looking forward to seeing the male equivalent in the near future! Ren/Stimpy and Timon/Pumbaa aren't quite as awesome as Korrasami!

I haven't frequented this Thread, have they said anything about the future of Korra? Might they release some comics like they did for the first series? Or is Korra's adventure, for the moment, completely done?

Personally, at that point I didn’t want Korra to have to end up with someone at the end of series. We obviously did it in Avatar, but even that felt a bit forced to me.

I'm glad Bryan agrees with me on Katara and Aang.

They got this pair of cousins to contend with

You know, that is something I think I'll still be curious about. Whether it would've been a more fitting (not better, but fitting) ending to have Korra walk into the portal alone at the end. The series has had her from almost start to finish as a loner. Sure, she had Mako, Asami, and Bolin with her at times, but many a time she was never afraid to go it alone. I definitely think there would've been a lot of appeal to show that, and then have her turn around and see her friends waving goodbye, showing they'll be there when they get back.

Personally I would've liked Korra to enter the portal riding on Naga (who got no love this season) or the entire scooby gang going together and still giving Korra/Asami their moment.

Huh, that WOULD'VE been good, both of them. It would've been fitting that Naga go with Korra, after all, she rode him into Republic City when this all started.

As for the Scooby gang idea, that's good too. You could've had Bolin and Mako chatting about the "possible dangers" of the Spirit World. Then the music could've cut low as the camera focused on Korra and Asami, then the two could've smiled at each other, then held hands and smiled even bigger. That would've been pretty definitive too.

I think the way the entire last episode played out, made sense that they would both travel together. They were the two characters that went through the most. Korra with almost getting killed and spending years trying to recover. Asami being betrayed by her own father, and then losing him when she just forgave him. Both needed a break the most.

It's an ending I can live with, I just like ending with the primary group overall.

Oh no doubt, that was actually one of the reasons I gave for them not being a couple (before the confirmation) was because there's nothing wrong with wanting to travel with your best friend who understands just about everything you've gone through in the last couple years. There was no doubt there was a powerful bond of friendship between them, the question was did it lead to that conclusion many believed.

Nothing wrong with that, it's good to end with all the characters you loved watching grow throughout the series. I think for me that's what made the TLA ending so powerful. Not just the battles and the sense of true rebirth, it was that the gang was all together (even Zuko and Iroh!) to rejoice and be in each others company at the end.

Not to spoil my own story, but I have a very TLA ending in my Avatar story Spirit of Earth. I have my four main characters together just relaxing and enjoying the peace that they fought so hard to earn.
