Avengers vs. X-Men: 2012 Event - Part 2

Ha, yeah. This is not entertaining in the slightest. Not to mention the X-verse is due for some less-than-thrilling shakeups after this event is done.

The only thing that could salvage this is if Ares comes back and murders everybody(with Phobos of course)
That would be f***ing awesome. Ares really needs to come back in a big way. Hercules needs to regain his powers, while we're at it.

Dear Odin

Please let Franklin Richards be the one who kills Emma. If you let this happen I will sacrifice a Frost Giant in your name.

In Kirby's Name

Amen.

:ff: :ff: :ff:
LOL! :woot: I would offer an additional brace of rock trolls, if it would be any inducement.

This, not even actively disliking Emma, but having her PF5 edition trounced by young Franklin strikes me as every bit as endearing a idea, as, say Thor getting another crack at the current incarnations of They Who Sit Above In Shadow.

True, Namor's pulling a Sarah Palin as we speak. I'm waiting for the first cries of racism over a white(-ish) character destroying the previously unconquerable Wakanda to start up. ;)
Can he see Wakanda from Atlantis? :cwink:

That'd be nice but I'm willing to settle for Emma, Cyclops and the rest of their Phoenix-ed up posse to get tossed in a super-prison for a while after losing their new found power in a highly embarrassing way.

Let's face it, Thor's not having a comeback in this story. He's screwed to the end of this one.

I'm calling it right now: The whole Phoenix Five thing is just playing out in someone's mind

It was all a dream and Captain Marvel wakes up

Alex : She did what?
Thor : She hit me. Really hard. <sniff>
Franklin : She is not a nice lady.
Katie : Yeah.
Thor : So can you guys help me? Let's go get her.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

If the Sentry ever comes back it will be too soon.

I'm all for Ares coming back though...

The repetition of Thor's getting his ass kicked, as Havok said, is what really bugs me. He fought the Phoenix, what, 3 times in Secret Avengers and nearly got killed each time? ... Really? The guy who killed the Void and the Serpent while all the other heroes were losing their s*** with fear in previous events, who's punched a hole in the armor of a Celestial, who's fought the Silver Surfer to a standstill numerous times, who's caused (an admittedly hungry) Galactus to turn tail and run in fear can't even contend with just 1/5th of the Phoenix's power? That's either flat-out pathetic or a massive, massive overestimation of the Phoenix's power on Bendis' part.

Either way, it sucks for the same reason the Hulk/Thor rivalry has sucked in the past: it's consistent to the point of boredom. What use is a 'rivalry' if one party always wins? In the context of this event, it basically just means we're waiting for the next blatant plot device to show up...

I agree with a lot of your post. Although I don't think it is any shame for Thor to lose to the full Phoenix. But I don't think Thor should be getting owned like that. I mean, can't Thor go hop in the Destroyer armor or something? Grab some Norn stones? What's up with this event? That's what I mean in a previous post when I said the more I think about the series the less sense it makes. But I'm enjoying it. I'll turn my brain off for a few minutes and read the comic.

I just hope they don't upset me by throwing Emma under the bus.

i feel the same way about thor.(i am a big fan obviously) i have to be honest, i expected so much more from thor power wise. marvel just does not respect thor as a charactor, think about the grand scope of powers he has. thor is one of the few heroes who can at least do some damage to phoenix. its just a shame thor gets such bad writing right now.the really sad truth here is the writers would most likely put phoenix on the ropes in battle with a at his best green hulk.

Agreed.

Diamond may have helped leak some information Marvel Comics may have been planning to reveal sometime during the course of this Comic-Con weekend.

Information has begun to surface online about a series of Marvel titles being offered for sale in October that did not appear in Marvel’s October solicitations released earlier this past Tuesday.

Newsarama has been able to confirm with comic book retailers these titles do in fact appear on October order forms available online to retailers by Diamond.

The titles are:

Marvel Now Point One #1 (a seeming a fit for Marvel's teaser from earlier this week seen to the right).

AvX Consequences #1 (of 5), a 5-issue series all going on sale in October.

A Plus X #1, a presumed one-shot.

A-Babies Vs X-Babies #1, another presumed one-shot.

Newsarama could not immediately reach Marvel for comment to verify if these titles will indeed be on sale in October.

Look for more information if and when it becomes available.

More info about some of those from the Cup O Joe panel:

A Plus X is by Jeph Loeb, Dan Slott, Dale Keown and Ron Garney. On the cover: Spider-Man, Iceman, Doop, Falcon, Warbird and an orange-tinted Iron Man.

AvX Consequences is by Kieron Gillen, Tom Raney and Mark Brooks. Singh says it will "set the trajectory for the Marvel Universe in the future." Looks like it focuses on Cyclops in some form.

A-Babies vs. X-Babies one-shot is coming in October, written by Skottie Young and illustrated by Guruhiru, clearly inspired by Young's AvX variant cover.

Ten bucks says A-babies Vs. X-babies is better than the actual Avengers Vs. X-Men event.

The only story I've ever read that's worse than AvX (in my opinion) is OMD. I honestly can't think of another story that would then rank below AvX. Depending on how it all ends this could potentially be my second least favorite story in my 21 years of comicbook reading.

Now, that could easily change with one or two wonderful moments... the death of Emma Frost and/or the return of Jean Grey.

I've read worse stories than this. Last year's Fear Itself for example and Secret Invasion was worse than this. DC's The Dark Knight Strikes Again was worse than AvX. The Wolverine story where he killed Sabertooth "Evolution" is worse.

Also, I could rattle off about 50 Spider-Man stories that were awful throughout the years - OMD, OMIT, The Clone Saga, Sins Past, Maximum Carnage. That dude's had just as many terrible stories as he's had greatest of the history of comics.

Ultimatum was awful too. I only read it just because I was fascinated by how much negative reviews it was getting. Some of the insane stuff I was reading about it here @ the Hype and around the net, seemed like I had to see it with my own eyes because of how outrageous some of it sounded.

I'll put it to you this way, I can't stand the concept of the Ultimate universe and have no stock in anything that happens to it - but I HATED this story. It was so f***ing awful. If you can make me hate a story and feel bad about actual fans of the characters in the story when I normally could care less about them - Then you have truly written the worst story of all time.

Wouldn't take that bet. Just the A-babies Vs. X-babies cover looks like more fun than the whole main event so far!

Okay. Jean is returning. But why do you keep wishing for Emma's death? That's my home girl. I'm really hoping Cyclops killing Emma isn't his "hero/redemption/mea culpa) moment." it would be really bad for me
