Avengers vs. X-Men: 2012 Event - Part 2

I'd like to see a Morrison return one day to see what he could do with other characters at Marvel. I don't think it will ever happen though because he seems like a DC guy for life. The same reason why we'll never see Jim Lee or Geoff Johns do Marvel work again.

We can dream though. Can't we dream? Is Millar still with Marvel? I really want Millar to write more Marvel.

I'm a little skeptical of that. Millar's had trouble with characterization in the past. *cough* *Civil War* *cough* I don't think it's a lack of knowledge with him either, I just think he likes to put his own spin on how he feels established characters should act.

As for the Morrison dream......suuuuuuuure, why not? Dream away pal.

I liked Millar's mainstream stuff. I thought his Marvel Knights: Spider-Man run was good and I LOVED Wolverine: Enemy of the State. Even that single issue at the end of that run that had nothing to do with it, dealing with Wolvie in a concentration camp, was awesome.

His Ultimates was great. Ultimates 2 really blew my mind. It was one of the few times I had to put a comic down mid-issue to reflect on what happened during the issue.

Yeah, Ultimates and Ultimates 2 were great (though I thought killing George W. Bush's wife was a bit too far).

He made Valeria smart. That was the best thing he did for the FF. The rest of it was very little writing and tons of splash pages.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

Millar's run on Fan4 was okay. It was insanely decompressed by all the panoramic panels and splash pages, but he didn't do anything on the title that irked me that I can remember.

Thor fans are gonna wanna avoid AvX 4. He got his butt KICKED by Emma. Most definetly the worst beating he's faced this story. Heck defiently the worst any character got defeated throughout this event

The whole crossover is stupid as hell, but that scene isn't ********. We're not talking about a normal Emma Frost. Emma's got 1/5th of the Phoenix Force inside her. The Phoenix can spank Galactus, so Thor's a non-threat.

I think the bigger issue is that Marvel KEEPS using Thor as the Phoenix' punching bag. This is likt the 5th or 6th time he's had his azz handed to him by it since this story started. Even a non-Phoenix powered Rachel was able to humiliate him

Her TK hammer is more powerful than Mjnor?

So we get both an ass and a crotch shot in one panel for Emma. Don't see that too often...

Seriously, there's like 2 taint shots in that travesty of a fight scene.

Stay classy, Marvel.

Maybe this is why he decides to where armor in Marvel Now

Man, they are sh***ing on Thor hard lately.

You'd think that more recent media exposure would guarantee him a better showing in the yearly events but apparently that is not the case. I have no real hope for him having any kind of come back in this piece of crap story.

They still need to prove that Hope is super powerful and capable of big things. Im sure she will get a crack at beating up Thor before this is over

See Havok's avatar up there? I think that's the hype's general feeling toward AvX.

Haha. Yeah.

I'm torn on the fight. I love Emma, and well, the Phoenix is beyond hax in the Marvel Universe, so I can see even 1/5 insanely powerful being still powerful enough to beat Thor.

But Thor has been getting mistreated a lot this event so I was kinda hoping for Thor to fight Emma to a draw. I appreciate that he blasted her into space with a hit. That was great. He withstood a psychic attack from Phoenix Frost-- that was great. But she whooped him like a kid and I thought that was a bit much, but it wasn't entirely unexpected.

There are too ways of looking at this-- Thor has inverse plot-armor or there just isn't any shame in losing to 1/5th the Phoenix. I think I'm okay with the later, narrowly, given that Thor at least blasted her into space. He also knocked her through Utopia.

The Thor beatings have become tiresome. In fact, I'm 'bout ready for this whole event to be over.

My thing with AvX is that I'm actually excited about it, but I feel guilty because the more I think about AvX the less defensible it is. I didn't like AvX till I saw the X-Men get the Phoenix. That was way out of left field and I thought I should read it a bit more closely. The September solicits showing Scott and Emma fighting with the tag "Fatality!" really made me jump since Emma is one of my faves. All in all, the series has kept my interest pretty well for 8 bucks a month. Which is about what I can ask for.

In the next issue River Phoenix beats up Thor
