Avengers vs. X-Men: 2012 Event - Part 2

Again its not the fact that Thor is getting beat by these characters thats the issue. Its that it happens EVERY other week. He's been absolutely useless and pathetic this entire crossover. He's nothing more than Marvel's whipping boy for the duration of the summer

I can only take the situations one at a time. Hulk beating down thor = BS. Colossus powered with Juggernaut's power and Magik combined with half the phoenix force = not so much BS or really that big of a deal to me. Thor gets his moments from time to time and when he does they're always pretty badass, I agree with your issue, but in this instance all of the avengers at this point aren't very useful. Still if it takes getting the phoenix force for the X-Men to school the avengers it doesn't say much for the X-Men or is much of a whipping for the avengers.

True, but this is just the latest in a long line of pathetically one-sided fights where Thor loses. Two Phoenix-empowered X-Men, sure. One? It seems like he should at least be able to put up a fight, but no, Emma owned him hard. Rachel without the Phoenix Force owned him in Wolverine and the X-Men. The full Phoenix Force nearly killed him like 3 times before that. It's like watching him run into a wall over and over and over again and never learn from it.

In this instance it isn't that big a deal. One fifth the phoenix force I would think could take thor. Phoenix is pretty equal to galactus in my mind and I don't think five thors could take galactus so that's how I look at it.

Racheal would be the only time I'd call BS on things. The rest seems right.

Thor's stood up to Galactus before. Like I said, I'm not expecting huge wins, but it seems like he should at least be able to stand up to these f***ers. Instead he just keeps getting embarrassed over and over.

Gotta say thor standing up to Galactus is kinda BS the other way around.

Hungry Galactus vs. god blast. It works for me. He never actually sat there and went twelve rounds with Galactus or anything. Odin could do that back in the day and Fraction just showed he can do it today, but Thor's more on the Silver Surfer's level rather than his master's.

Ah, well level of hunger could work. Yes thor would be comparable with SS but then as powerful as SS is, he's nothing compared to the big G. So that's what I was going with.

Kinda off-topic but still related, did they explain how Black Panther was able to knock Silver Surfer off his board in (I think) Civil War? Cuz that just seems improbable to me.

Same way he put him in that hammerlock in F4 :whatever:

as a big time thor fan, i agree with you. thor is the one hero who should be giving these guys a serious battle, and he should be considered a big time threat to them(at least in a one on one battle) i dont and never have understood marvel in regards to how they write thor. how can someone who can have a go at galactus be shown to struggle so much against these guys. marvel needs to wake up and respect thor.

That's the worst assessment ever of Wanda's role. She went from mentally unstable to angry then to amnesiac. You make her sound like she's been some buffoon incapable of doing anything right.
oh please anyone who read young avergers childrens crusade knows what a total screw up wanda is. come on she teaches her kids that you can mess up the world but just use some magic to fix it(yeah thats teaching responibility) and then uses a power she could not control to fix the mutants and to top it off she was with dr doom. i mean how much more screwed up can her character get. it is time to put her out to pasture but guess what, she gets to walk away from it. and it looks like she is going to be on another team soon. so think about what marvel is saying here about making enormous mistakes.(its ok just feel bad about it and we will have you on a new team with no questions asked in a year or two) give me a break.

Still making no sense. You sound like someone who knows nothing about Wanda prior to Children's Crusade. It's not as cut and dry as you believe it to be.

So... you think it's irresponsible for Wanda to want to clean up her own mess?

Which apparently was all Dr. Dooms fault in the first place.

Im not quite feeling Wanda and her "redemption" either. I really think Marvel should have just killed her off by having her fix her mess by sacrificing herself. They could have brought her back in a few years. I dont think she's realy paid for she did

this is the biggest problem with modern comic books.

Killing someone off is the easy way out 9 times out of 10.
And blaming it all on Doom instead of them owning what she did wasnt easy? Hey its Doom's fault so Wanda should get insta-redemption. Id have preferred her sacricificing herself over her roaming around free for years

this is the biggest problem with modern comic books.
It is what it is. You know when someone is killed off, its likely only temporary.

No sir. If Wanda dies, I need Wolverine standing over her corpse with bloody claws. I'm rarely a bloodthirsty comic reader, but this is looooong overdue.

Like Anubis said, it's also uninspiring. Having Doom be the culprit behind everything is the more creative way to go about it except they botched the hell out of it. It was a throw away line that I even missed and had to re-read 3 or 4 times to get it. There was no further explanation as to why he did it, leaving the reader to believe he did it "just because".

But I'd expect nothing less from a guy (Heinberg) that's too Hollywood to give a crap about stuff like that or to get his work in on time. To piggy back what scatterax said, this is the other biggest problem in modern comics.

yes it is. wanda has done too much damage to be allowed to not only walk away from it, but be put on another team as well. listen how can someone with her level of powers be allowed to do what she has with really no judgement placed on her. she just moves on to the next thing. todays comic writers do this again and again, many of the fallen heros should be locked up but marvel gives us some kind of low ball excuse to get them off. and we the fans just accept it because we happen to like that character, and we all have become use to it. i mean we have magneto on the xmen team i mean come on guys, just think about the blood on his hands. the man should at least should be in jail for life. not fighting alongside the xmen like nothings happen. time and time again this sort of thing happens and we just go with it. every week you have to worry that wanda wont go off the deep end and the heroes wont wake up in another house of m world, and they (the avengers) dont do nothing about it other than put her on another team as if all is forgiven. what price did she pay for her actions. the more you read marvel comics the more over time these things tend to stand out. and the blame doom for everything to get wanda off doent fly with me, it just old and lazy writing to me.

You're still not getting it. I'm not gonna debate it anymore because no offense dude, but I can't sit there are read all your responses when you don't use punctuation, capitalization or a paragraph or two.

I thought Marvel wanted Thor to become MU's Superman, so this constant beat down of Thor is extremely puzzling.

So I haven't been following this event very closely do to the negative feedback I've been hearing. (I'm mostly here for spoilers)Anybody wanna give me a rundown on what fights went down and who one? So far all I'm aware of is thor losing a couple fights and iron man foolishly wins against magneto. (the fact that he won is what's foolish to me.)
