people should also see RKO 281 and Hitler: The Rise of Evil to get a real good assesment of Schreiber's talent. they keep referrin to those Scream movies which IMO is crap.

btw dude, your avvy is the best Ledger-as-Joker manip i've seen anywhere. and thats coming from a Ledger skeptic ;)

  :marv:

yeah, your avvy does give me some hope and removes a tiny portion of the doubts i have about Ledger.

What doubts do you have in Ledger? Its not like he is a poor actor (he is fantastic), its not like he doesnt look the part. Sure - he has never played a villian role before - but he was good enough for Nolan who could of picked Villian extrodinare Paul Bettany for the Joker. If Nolan thinks Ledger is the best choice in the world for the JOker, thats good enough for me.

i'm glad you're so confident in Nolan's abilities, but remember - Nolan also chose Katie Holmes for Rachel.

the doubts i have about Ledger you don't seem to have.
it's not his acting, i think he should've won Best Actor. or Phoenix. i'm sorry but Hoffman didn't do much of anything that wow-ed me in Capote. actually...not a whole lot about that movie wow-ed me.

his doesn't look the part to me. which could turn out, Murphy didn't look like Scarecrow and that turned out alright.

i can't quite place my figure on it...but there just seems to be something...off about choosing Ledger for Joker. i'll wait and see. i also know i'm not alone in the fan community with this feeling. i'll give Nolan and Ledger the chance to prove me wrong, but dear god, i hope they don't **** this up. Joker is my favorite villian.

Katie Holmes wasnt that bad - her character was written poorly thought, that was the problem.

I can understand you questioning the discision to pick Ledger over other actors - however the same could be said about Cilian Murphey - IMO that is much more comparable to the Ledger as Joker situation than Holmes as Rachel.

up until i saw the movie Murphy as Scarecrow bugged the hell out of me!
i bring up Katie because there was a nicely written character for a actress to sink her teeth into and have some spark and what we got was a actress making the character seem like dead weight.

i don't want something like that to happen again.

my view is if your a director and producer and you see an actor like Phoenix who has an open schedule so far in 2007......you do all you can to have him play a challenging role like Dent/Two Face in your film. Easily ahead of Phillipe or Schrieber. However, if you can't get him....then if I were Nolan...I then look at Schrieber and or possibly Gerard Butler.

when i heard about Murphy as Scarecrow i was concerened withthe age, but i knew he had the skills to pull it off, so i wasnt that worried, just had to get used to the idea of a young Dr Crane. i'm not that confident in Ledger's skills though. he's not a bad actor, but he's not a homerun either you know what i mean?

anyway Bale's (apparent) vote of confidence in him has eased the fears a bit more than yesterday. that and your rockin avvy :p

you think thats interesting, you should see my genitalia

I think the person that will play Harvey Dent will be someone out of left field, someone who has not been known to play that role before but can pull it off near perfectly. As for who that actor is, I have no clue but judging solely by the Heath Ledger casting, it'll just be someone out of left field or someone we haven't thought of.

EDIT:

>_<

Of course a totally new conversation is taking place and my post is now obsolete. Har har.

i hate all this left field nonsense, its only left field because of the hype made by the boards about the candidates they would like to see. Ledger was chosen because he gave the best performance in Nolan's eyes, not cus of the controversy of picking him because he is 'left field', the same will apply for Dent, if they think Phillipe is the best for the role they have written then they will hire him, not because he isn't an obvious choice or he isn't schriber. do you realise it's a joke? the concepts fairly common on the boards

As far as I have heard, the reason Nolan chose him was because he hasn't done a role like this before and we wouldn't know what to expect from him, although of course he would have to be good in order to get the role in the first place.

I also never said Nolan would do this everytime, I just said, based on this casting, Nolan would choose someone that was out there but good. It could be a fan-favorite for all I know, like Christian Bale was.

you don't choose an actor just because they havn't done the role before, thats an actors benefit playing a different not the directors or movie's. He obviously gave the best performance in the audition

amen!
we should take this to pm's. i'm curious as to why you would like Americans more than Brits, as you are a Brit.

I'm just saying, according to reports, Nolan chose him because we (keyword: we, not Nolan) wouldn't know what to expect from Ledger. I'm sure that Nolan wouldn't have chosen him if Ledger couldn't do the part but the thing that probably topped it for Nolan was the fact that we wouldn't know how Ledger would come off as. Hence it was out of left field for us.
