The Dark Knight Rises Batman 4?! Discuss!

Of course WB are going to give us more Batman, but they need to give the character a break, and instead use the momentum the Nolan films (and hopefully Man of Steel) bring to let others in their stable have a chance to shine. Especially if they're serious about a Justice League film.

In that case it would be smart of them to reintroduce the other members first before re-tackling Bats, just to establish the world they're in and give people a chance to distance themselves from the Nolan films (a mistake Marvel has made with Spiderman) before doing a new take on the character.

No doubt the success of the Avengers has a few at DC/WB wanting to charge into battle now, but Avengers worked because Marvel were patient and first gave the characters time to be established. DC/WB need to show the same patience, as much as it would gall them to do so.

IMO, this also means a Green Lantern sequel *hides*

finally a young blackmask that looks like the above image. Make it a Mafia War movie where Batman happens to fit. what do you guys think???

Emma Thomas- You don't owe these people anymore. You've given them everything!

Nolan- Not everything, Not yet....

If "Man of Steel" fails expect the Batman reboot to be greenlit in a second.

It will be more Batmans movie for the foreseeable future for DC

Now that Nolan quit on Robinov's plan, there's no more Batman films planned at the moment.

The next film up is Justice League in 2015.

Im really liking the idea now of them jumping into JLA before rebooting with solo films. They'll do everything they can to cast the right guy with the intention of him signing onto a few solos, but it's also a good test. If Justice League ends up being a flop or the actor playing Batman doesn't get a good response at all, they can always re-cast in time. But if it works it also introduces the new actor straight away into a world of endless possibilities. Even if they try to make it grounded, you're still dealing with the rest of the League. Who are obviously way more fantastical than Nolans. It puts into the audiences mind to expect a different take.

If Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern ,etc can exist in the same world as Batman? Then the possibilities are almost endless for Gothams rogues. Doesnt mean u cant try to ground Mr Freeze for example. But it's opened up.

This is great news if it's true. Because Batman on film, on his own...it needs to take a rest after this one. If JLA indeed comes out in 2015 or 2016, then that pushes the Batman movie to 2017/18. That's perfect in my opinion.

One person directing the next Bats in Justice League, another person directing him when he's on his own. It'll be looser. Nolans trilogy is very tight;y written and planned. It's a specific vision. And the reboot could be a way different vibe. It doesn't mean it'll be just as good but what matters next is they don't try to repeat Nolans vision. It must be very different and new, without going against Nolans to just go back to Burtons style or Shumachers.

Its a pipe dream but, I'd love to see a direct adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns in the style of Sin City. But since Rises is somewhat a quasi version and there's a 2 part animated version coming out, it'll never happen :csad:

I would love a low budget claustrophobic version of Batman in a Arkham Asylum/City sense. More Batman and less Bruce Wayne with a direction that is very Nolanesque! A thriller/detective version of it with a "SAW/Se7en" like atmosphere.

Could you imagine the possibilities? Joker, Scarecrow Dreamworld scenes, Harley Quinn. Batman kicking ass taking over Arkham would look sweet on film. Involve more use of gadgets, less is more, not so much the tumbler, batpod, or "the bat".

If Marc Webb can make The Lizard believable, and IMO he did an amazing job, then someone can make almost all of Batman's enemies believable.

With the success and critical acclaim of The Avengers, WB should consider developing a live-action Justice League film.

Aren't they already?

Not many sources published this report. I don't think Batman needs to be rebooted for JL.

'Justice League' movie targeted for 2015 release by Warner Bros

Warner Bros and DC Entertainment is planning to release its Justice League movie within the next few years.

In a Variety article detailing the studio's forthcoming plans for its DC properties, a 2015 date is mentioned as a target to get the comic book team - featuring Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman - together on the big screen for the first time.

Following the box office success of The Avengers earlier this year, Warner Bros announced that Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall had penned a script for a Justice League blockbuster.

Warner Bros film group president Jeff Robinov revealed that plans for its superhero movie slate will be announced after the release of The Dark Knight Rises.

"My hope is that over the next month or so we'll be ready to lay out the plan for the next DC movies," he told the Los Angeles Times.

Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan recently disclosed that he will not have any involvement in the Justice League movie or the proposed Batman reboot.

"It was a conversation we had," Robinov said. "Obviously anything you can get Chris involved in is great."

A Justice League feature was previously in the works with Mad Max director George Miller at the helm. The canceled project would have starred Armie Hammer as Batman, DJ Catrona as Superman and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman.

Following the release of Dark Knight Rises on July 20, the next DC Comics adaptation to hit the big screen will be the Henry Cavill-led Superman revamp Man of Steel.

What about the idea of Paul Dini writing the screenplay for the next Batman film?

No. I hate the idea of Dini taking on something non episodic in nature.

I hope any Batman reboot begins with an established and experienced Batman. I enjoyed the new Spider-Man film but only because of the cast and the great stunt work. Frankly I'm sick of the superhero origin done onscreen and I don't wan't to see Batman's again.

I'm also sick of this trend, half of the film being spent on the origin, a flashback will suffice.

Throughout the new trilogy, I'd love to see flashbacks from his training which are corresponding to a theme or person during the present part of the narrative.

Lol, this Lizard doesn't look believable at all.

And that origin story should stop, yes, but it shows you how much influence Nolan's Batman-approach has.

:o

Success? yes. Critical acclaim? Probably.

Haven't seen it, and not planning to.

The reboot must be totally different, that's for sure.

The Avengers is indeed critically acclaimed.

Yes, he's one of my favourite Bat-writer. I would love to see him write a Batman movie script.

Haven't seen it, and not planning too.

You should watch it regardless of whether it's your cup of tea or not, any comic book fan should check it out.

All I can assure is that the direction is nothing like Iron Man 1 & 2.

It's not planning TO, not TOO. My mistake.

I really like IM btw, the opening scene with Back In Black is just pure coolness. :yay:

The humour and the interaction between the characters is what I found entertaining. But humour doesn't have a whole lot of rewatch value when you know the jokes that are coming. The action was pretty middle of the road, considering there was absolutely no suspense in the film. It's a 3 out of 5 for me. Feels like an overblown pilot for a tv show.
