Batman: Arkham Asylum

Nope. 3 times in a row and on different difficulties I got Crocs hand only.

Someone mentioned earlier that Rocksteady said it's picked at random for all 3 hands.

I wonder how much that'll actually follow on in the sequal. I'm all for more titan enemies, but another titan plot? Please, no.

Maybe its just like all the bloody X-men games that have a cliffhanger ending of Apocalypse stepping out of the shadows with Mr. Sinister, but they never go along with it if they do make a sequal.

First time through, I got Bane's hand.

Second time on hard I got Scarecrow's hand.

Not interested enough to attempt for Crocs.

Obviously, there are some enemies that Batman can go toe to toe with. Freeze, Bane, Croc. But, last scene of the next game should be Batman fighting Ra's among a Lazarus pit.

Well, we can assume he's alive in the Arkham universe.

I'd pass on the Titan plotline. Maybe just giving that character (Croc, Scarecrow, or Bane) just being pumped on it...although I'd be interested to see what the hell Scarecrow would do with his fear toxin and the titan venom. I'd hope it'd be better than just making people muscle bound freaks.

The best Batman 2 game pitch I've read, from a fan, was having Batman contained like Arkham Asylum did. Batman stuck in the JLA Watchtower, with White Martians having taken control of it. Basically, like the Morrison JLA book did. And have the JLA mind controlled and up against Batman.

That's probably the best fan idea I've heard for a sequel. But it kinda leaves all the ending setups in the wind.

I had the idea of Batman trapped in the JLA tower too. But eh, I dunno. It can't be free roaming, but if not Gotham... where?

After Ivy starts taking over the game felt way too short. But Arkham was pretty f**ked at that point anyway so I guess it's logistical. :(

Great game though, took a while to get into it but truly the first great Batman game. Kudos.

I think almost any superhero can have a great game if the right production team and technology is available.A video game is similar to a movie Batman&Robin sucked but once you get Christopher Nolan to direct, Batman is back and a bigger box office draw then he has ever been. The technology angle is all about scenery, frame rate, and animation for example a great Green Lantern game would probably have to include a whole sector in the universe not even including the homeworld for the Guardians.
Well then do you believe the tech exist? The formula used in this game certainaly wouldnt work with heroes like Superman and The Flash. So how could a game with such powerful heroes be made?

Why? Isn't his dead body one of The Riddler's answers?

It's tough to do superheroes because they're awesome in stories, but as soon as you put someone in control it loses that magic. Unless of course the right creative team is behind it and can find a way that can make it work, like with AA. The combat system is slick, the detective aspects were a cool nod to the character, and stealth was played upon heavily. They really focused on the character and made it work in a way that didn't come off as pretentious.

As long as the team behind a game can get a good story to build good gameplay on, any superhero can have a kickass game.

I dunno, but the same people behind AA are developing a GL game..I doubt it'll be in the same format as AA thought, but you never know.

Yeah, but if you go back to the body bag later on in the game or after you beat it you'll notice that the body is gone.

I think it could be interesting, and interesting enough to amp up the formula from Arkham Asylum.

Being able to enter the room, instead of cells, of the JLA could be interesting. Batman kicking Superman's/Flash's/Martian Manhunter's/Wonder Woman's asses...would prop up the Bat-God aspect even more.

I don't see it happening, just because it's not exactly in the Batman universe. I'm sure most of us would be more satisfied with seeing Nightwing and Robin physically appear than Superman or the Flash.

You know what they could do? Make it a real Batman "case". You don't know who's doing all the bad stuff, you have to figure out where to go next, what leads to chase down etc, THAT would be awesome.

If Paul Dini is back, and I hope he will be, I have no doubt that the 'Tec aspects of Batman will get it's due.

I think what has me on edge more than anything is where they can take it. Arkham Asylum is such a well designed game. The game design, and how it takes advantage of having the player use they're brain to come back to an area of the Asylum and discover areas they've missed...and how the gadgets open up the gameplay...it's just so well designed and perfectly suited for what they did.

It's like deja vu, man. It's like we're back to 2005 where Batman Begins had brought Batman back to someplace he hasn't been in forever...and the mystery of "well, what's next? How can they top this?".

TLH.

I love it.

All the pieces are there too. Calender Man, Riddler, Joker, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Hatter. Throw in the Falcone family etc. and we have our sequel. The first game was based off the AA graphic novel, the sequel based off TLH.

That would be a brilliant way to finally adapt the novel. It's a pretty big story, and a video game is a great format to translate the lengthy narrative.

We've got ourselves a winner.

I've finished the game once on normal and once on hard. I got Bane's hand both times.

TLH is a perfect graphic novel to base the game off of. Tell a different story inside the foundation of the graphic novel like they did with AA and the Titan formula. They didn't adapt the exact story and plot of the AA graphic novel but used the setting and characters and overall theme (Batman trapped inside AA dealing with crazies and villians).

Wasn't much of an adaptation though, and never was. They just had the same title.

If it had been a direct adaptation...I think non-Batman comic book fans would have hated it.

The mass audience would certainly not 'get' it, I think. It's pretty surreal, man.

TLH would be an awesome baseline to go for.

And with Two-Face out there, and the Riddler possibly still free as well...it could be a nice go around.
