Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 7

Some neat stuff there like the coded Enigma message.

However, nothing as cool as Scarecrow's hidden room or the Killer Croc sequence from City.

I was a little disappointed. Asylum had the hidden Warden Sharp room. City had the hidden room for Scarecrow. Nothing like that in Origins :( .

As far as we know.

Just curious, supposedly there was still one major easter egg that was never found in Arkham City. Was that cleared up or could it have been found and we just never heard which one it was exactly?

I just played this game. Got it for Christmas, along with a 360 and Asylum. I've never played any of these games before.. and...

Yep. I can see why everyone raves about these things. It's fantastic. I've just beaten Mad Hatter and Copperhead and given myself the antidote to her poison. How far into the game is that? I don't want it to go to quickly.

My problem is, now that I've started off with the 'expanded world' game, more gadgets AND a batsuit I much (MUCH) prefer over the other one, will Asylum (and City, should I pick that up) feel like a let down? I've only played a little of Asylum so far.

I wouldn't consider them letdowns. The writing is very good in all of the games and even stripped down, the gameplay is always fun as all get out. You will notice a severe drop going from Origins to Asylum but it won't ruin the game or anything. Each one stands very well on it's own.

While there is a drop in gameplay somewhat, there are still some things I'd like to see continue from this game into the next Rocksteady title.

I actually hate Origins Batsuit, he looks like he's wearing trunks.

People keep saying that and yet I find it less prominent than the trunks in the other games. It looks like it blends in more to me.

Plus that cowl is just way better. I hope it makes a return in the true Arkham sequel. Batman changes his costume all the time so I am all for something more New 52 inspired.

Yeah... I don't think the Rocksteady model was the best. A little too Alex Ross for my taste. It had some nice moments but I'm just not a fan of bulky Batman.

I would love Rocksteady to go for a more streamlined Neal Adams vibe with the next game.

I absolutely agree. I love using the Neal Adams costume in Arkham City. I wish it was a little less powder blue but there's just something about a Batman who's built more like Nightwing than Superman.

I don't like Batman armored, but I also don't like him super bulky so I haven't been in love with his look in any of these games.

I still think Asylum is the best one.

I still can't get that one most wanted file unlocked. All are done except for enigma and penguin, and all the crime scenes are done as well.

Just finished the game and have to say, this is by far my favorite of the trilogy. The plot and story is just incredible, like movie quality, and way more intriguing than the previous games. In particular, I like how more down to earth and realistic this one comes off, where as City, and particularly Asylum, got a bit too cartoony. Also, the expanded Gotham City and batcave are just so damn engrossing. As much as I loved the map for Arkham City, I got tired of it after a few days. Not so with this one, I just keep wanting to explore the city. I also love how it's set on Christmas Eve, and how the city is decorated and you occasionally here Christmas music. Some other things I love:

-Nolanverse influenced Bane is AMAZING! Probably the best part of the game
-Joker: As much as he has been used, I think this may be is magnum opus for the series. His introduction, and relationship with Batman was done very well. Also, the beginnings of [BLACKOUT]his relationship with Harley[/BLACKOUT] was a great treat.
-The Deadshot, Bane and Firefly boss fights gave me chills.

I know there were complaints about it not introducing anything new gameplay wise, and the whole [BLACKOUT]Joker posing as Black Mask[/BLACKOUT] thing, but this definitely goes on my list of top games of the year, and best entry in the series. Can't wait for some expansion packs!

I was enjoying this game right up until the point where I can't get past [BLACKOUT]the joker fight in the church[/BLACKOUT] because of a bug in the game...
No fix yet and it has been quite a few days since this particular bug surfaced.

What's the bug? Does it keep loading or crashing?

The controls stop responding, so you can't finish the level. You can counter ad infinitum, which just leaves you in a continual loop. If you then leave the controls alone, he just smacks the crap out of you and you die.

At which point the level reloads.

Very frustrating.

I have heard it is possible to get around this if you plug a USB gamepad controller into your PC and remap the keys.
But I don't want to spend money to fix something that should not be broken in the first place...

Agreed you shouldn't have to. Awful bug to have

So is it worse on PC? Surely WBM will do other patch for PC gamers.

I finished it last night too and I loved the story. I share most of your feelings. It was more personal, delving into the psychology of Batman and Joker and those surrounding them. The conclusion was just the best of the series so far. I can't even count the end of AC, since it just...ended.

I have to applaud what they did to Bane. He felt so intimidating. When he stood up against Joker's orders and slowly approached him in the hotel, it's like I could hear Joker thinking ''oh crap, please don't screw me'', trying to hide it with a smile.
Besides what Joker did, I had this feeling that Bane was the main threat. His presence was really strong and remarkable. More points to WBM for explaining why he becomes so dumb, which was, imo, Rocksteady's biggest sin.

The boss battles were another step up. Even though Shiva was the weakest and less inspired (and I still have to do Deadshot's), Deathstroke was the higher point. I repeated that battle so many times just to get a flawless victory and counter all his counters, but I didn't mind. That's EXACTLY the kind of battle I wanted since the first game. Someone I could go toe to toe, all out. And they excelled at that. I want more of that against Prometheus in a future sequel to City.

As for the city...I'm tired of it. As I knew I would. It's not just that big part of it is a remake of Arkham City's, but I don't see anything truly new with the part they added. All the time I couldn't stop thinking that it's more of the same and, once again, like in Arkham City and Arkham Asylum, my favorite parts of the game are when we're indoors, not out there, in the open, so I naturally fear when rumors of a bigger city for Arkham 3 come around. It's inside the locations that I feel like Batman and truly play like him, not outside.

Here's hope that they will bring something different and a breath of fresh air to the sequel, instead of just bigger areas to make it seem like the game will be better because of that or that it is going a step further.

I had a chance to grab this bad boy for like 29.99, but instead I got Minecrack and Gotham City Imposters.

I heard this one was too much like Arkham City, so I decided to wait for a Rocksteady release.

Do you play on PC? Because you can get a Steam Key here for $12.83. Or $15.77 together with the Deathstroke DLC.

All 3 are very much like one another. It's the Arkham series haha. IMO big mistake not grabbing this game and grabbing GC Imposters instead. You're missing out.

Definitely get Asylum and City. They're both brilliant games, much like Origins. Asylum is worth it alone for Scarecrow and City for Freeze imo.

Just play all 3. All great fun Batman games simple as that.
