Black Canary..Just Because

Dinah Lance, Black Canary’s alter ego, is a conservative talk show host who is working at the Daily Planet and clashes with Lois (Erica Durance).

.....

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to react to that.

I'm hoping the talk show thing is a cover of sorts, maybe she uses it to get info for her missions. I dunno, Dinah is the most un-conservative person ever, so this is weird

Smallville creating crappy renditions of characters with laughably ridiculous costume choices?

So what else is new.

I don't care about her personal politics. I think it's just kind of stupid. Making her a Private Detective would make so much more sense, seeing as how it would actually relate to her personality and backstory. The vigilante/conservative talk show host angle is more The Question's thing (although, his politics tend to be more Libertarian than Conservative).

Actually, I take some of it back; the costume isn't bad. It's just the makeup mask that throws it all out of whack. If your entire ensemble is going to be leather anyway, just wear a damn mask instead of some vaudeville paraphernalia.

It's weird because of all DC characters, I'd say Black Canary is one of the easiest to translate to live action. And yet both times that the CWB has tried, they come up with the most cockdiculous results.

I hate that and the short hair .

BC should look more,...................... female.

This version is just too butch across the board.

(I'm sure I'll hear about having an opinion.)

The Birds of Prey show was so depressing. The basic concept had so much potential. Could have been a nerdier Alias set in a Batman-less Gotham. :csad:

Here's Smallville's twisted version of Black Canary who will be guest staring in the 11th episode of "Smallville" Season 7 "Siren". which is scheduled to air on February 7th 2008.

The Cw's Official Descritpion for "Siren"

THE GREEN ARROW AND BLACK CANARY BATTLE IN SMALLVILLE — While secretly working for Oliver (guest star Justin Hartley), Chloe (Allison Mack) intercepts one of Lex’s (Michael Rosenbaum) project files, but she is attacked by the Black Canary (guest star Alaina Huffman), a mystery woman with a subsonic cry. Dinah Lance, Black Canary’s alter ego, is a conservative talk show host who is working at the Daily Planet and clashes with Lois (Erica Durance). Lex convinces the Black Canary that the Green Arrow and his team are terrorists so she launches an attack on the Green Arrow and Clark (Tom Welling). Meanwhile, Lois discovers Oliver’s secret.

Kristin Kreuk, Aaron Ashmore, Laura Vandervoort and John Glover also star. Kevin Fair directed the episode written by Brian Peterson & Kelly Souders.

Airs February 7, 2008 on The CW .

I was hoping for a black canary guest appearence on this show but now that I see what they've done with it I wish they hadn't! Who'd have thought they could do that to the hottest character in comics history.

they canceled veronica mars and kept this crap?
smallville started sucking during season 4... its just so incredibly bad now... ugh

LOL. That's hilarious.

I thought so.

I'd like sometime to catch all the tv and movie casters,... those who have never picked up a piece of paper with sufficient history who pick individuals for reasons having almost NOTHING to do with the premise of the show or movie but instead go for a "look" or a "feel" that THEY think would improve anything -

Catch them all in a warehouse somewhere and apply some rubber hose while FORCING THEM to read some source material.

ESP the "90210" crowd who pick for smallville. The ONLY CHARACTERS they got right for that show in the few episodes I could watch were MA AND PA Kent.

Lois Lane in Smallville????

Meh.

This is probably the main reason I don't watch TV outside of reruns and Animae.

This Black Canary reminds me of too many attempts by Hollywood to equate Hippy, (As in wide hipped) butch cut, (As in Variations of a page-boy cut), big-mouthed, (As in gotta talk smack first before getting things done.) females - as strong sexy characters.

I know I sound biased,... but somewhere someone got the idea that the above is what people want to see.

Black Canary in comics doesn't look like she could beat up a room full of gun toting thugs.

Just like Superman doesn't look like he could move the moon out of Orbit.
