If it's Black Mask like the recent generic psycho Black Red Skull from the comics, then Hush all the way please. I just found absolutely nothing interesting about that guy. I haven't read any of Black Mask's earlier stories and I never read part 2 of Hush so if it's between Hush and early Black Mask then I don't really know who would be a better choice.

Again, Black Mask. Hush is a crap villain. At first he was cool but once you find out his modivation and his reasoning for becoming Hush, you say, ''R-really? Thats why he's like that? Seriously? Well... thats ******ed.''

Hush is an awful villain. He just looks cool. Nothing else.

Taking styling tips from the Invisible Man isn't cool looking when you think about it....

After reading Batman 386/387 and 484/485
I'm nearly convinced that Black Mask will be used. His parallels to Bruce/Batman are great, and the involvement of Fox. Make it as linear as Batman Begins and you're done, chuck catwoman in there for good measure if you're desperate. But seriously he's realistic and fits in the universe. Old school mask is better than the skull tho!

Hush is a whiney, spoilt little brat. He has been improved recently in "Heart of Hush" story, but he is still the most pathetic villain ever. His motivation to hate Bruce/Bats is just laughable. The only way he could credibly work in a film is if he is only Hush by name, they couldn't have him with his origin from the comics.

Definitely Black Mask...I've been saying it since the What villains would you like to see in the sequel thread. Hush is stupid...I have his action figure, but I've never liked him.

Hush's motivations do indeed suck, but Thomas Elliot is still a far, far more interesting and compelling character than Black Mask, whose motivations also suck. Elliot's connection to Bruce is more powerful and relevant than Roman Sionis's. His emotional arc, and Bruce's in relation to him, is far more compelling. Hush has got the "physician" angle to him, and he's a credible physical and mental threat as well. His methods are far more interesting and less straightforward and cliche. He even looks cooler than Black Mask does.

It's at least grounded in some sort of child psychology. And it's still better than Black Mask's. Black Mask's is basically "I am evil, I want power".

Black Mask. Hush sucks. His motivation sucks. He just, sucks. Even if you changed his entire story he'd still suck by association.

Black Mask could be the head of a new Mob coming in and taking over. Utilizing the crazy that has come into Gotham since the Batman showed up. Though i'd rather they used the Penguin instead if they took that angle.

Black Mask. I think Nolan goes with themes that are a reflection of our society, and with the economic crisis Black Mask could show the fall of a business exec into crime. Black Mask is also the perfect foil - Bruce is isolated because his parents were killed and he devotes himself to an ideal, while Roman Sionis is isolated because he killed his parents and devotes himself to power & money.

Finally a sensible post. I'm in utter awe at the following Black Mask has gained in the past 3 years. Seriously, when in the world did he become such a highly favored villain?

Because I can wager this all started when BOF reported he was going to be a supposed player in TDK, way back in the rumor stages. Ever since then it's like Black Mask is some sort of top-tier rogue. To be honest this seems like bandwagoning at it's worst. I have NO clue why he has a sudden huge following on these boards.

The answer is in your post

The character tortured a popular female character in a scene that was vagely sexual/violent. That's what did it. Everyone just wants to keep remembering that.

Sigh.

Well, I mean come on. the guys a sick f**king degenerate. That's the kinda thing you kinda need to see in a Nolanverse villain. He fed a dudes eye to his girlfriend for Christs sake. That's about as sick as they come. Tommy Elliot? Pfft. Is *****s. I'd rather see Jason Todd before they use Hush. :o
