No Time To Die (Bond 25)

I appreciate Barbara Broccoli finally putting this nonsense to bed. At least for the time being.

A female James Bond? Never, confirms executive producer

I'd be ok with a female Bond. Make her masculine, a womanizing alcoholic, a perpetual bachelor, a former special forces soldier, a chain smoker, power driven, career person. Just like male Bond. Hell, say male Bond had a sex change. It can be one of those zany one offs. Like that time Bond became Asian.

Hah, yeah. That's kind of a point. I'd be okay with a female Bond, so long as she's this borderline-psychotic, drunken, not-exactly-progressive-and-feminist type just like male Bond is. You mess with that part and it'd not really Bond anymore, he's a d*ck of a person.

The problem with a female Bond is, what people are wanting is some post-modern Spice Girls "girl power!" schtick from it. Which is the problem, not whether Bond's got dude junk or lady junk. All the people calling for a female Bond are doing it because they want something inclusive & socially-aware and more 2018. Which ain't right for the character.

Pierce Brosnan was the most female Bond we've had so far.

I do wonder if there'd be a double-standard though (as there sadly tends to be in society). Like Bond tends to get a pass for his boozing and sleeping around from most people (well at least when he's not being too overtly creepy/rapey about it anyway).

But would a female spy who is arguably borderline alcoholic and who sleeps around a lot get the same kind of pass, I rather doubt it unfortunately.

Jessica Jones and Wynonna Earp are borderline alcoholic dysfunctional sarcastic female heroes that sleep around. Not sure how those characters are received by people.

Sixties female comic spy Modesty Blaise was often compared to Bond. Hollywood could try making a successful female spy franchise out of that character again. Fourth times the charm.

Black Widow is on the way from Marvel. A danger girl movie is in development from Constantin films.

Cue Fantastic Four/ Danger Girl crossover with Constantin. :o

Annapurna is supposed to be distributing Bond 25, right? Because it seems like some **** is brewing over there...

We almost got that with Atomic Blonde. Shame it didn't quite work, but the parts that did were good.

Worst comes the worst, Bond should be okay. A lot of distributors will race for it and it'll be quick.

Jessica Jones is an insufferable mope about. But Wynonna Earp is a lot of fun.

100% of the time, when there’s Bond casting rumors when there’s still an active Bond, it’s never real.

Too young, look wise. During Casino Royal or Sky fall, watching Craig, you felt he would save you... you felt he could fix the problem, this bloke... nah

Eh, I watched the first episode preview of his show 'Bodyguard' and he is top notch.

Yeah, no way they're casting this while working on a Craig movie.

Only time they've really had two options in the mix at once were Dalton as a backup for if Brosnan wouldn't/couldn't do it, and even that from memory was after Moore's last movie was done & dusted.

If this news came out like a year after Craig's new movie was released, I could sort of buy it though. Wouldn't surprise me if they go pretty young the next time around for some reason, seems like the type they might look at. Not familiar with the dude at all (don't watch Thrones), but admittedly that guy's got a pretty great look for it:

Almost Connery-esque somehow. Being Scottish is a plus, and 32's probably about the age they'd go for if they wanted a bunch of movies out of the next guy and felt Craig's injuries/physical stuff had been a bit of a hindrance recently.

No to Madden thank you. Post Craig, just call Dan Stevens, cast him and get all this 'Who's next Bond' put to bed. Many thanks.

I smashed through the whole season this weekend as it was raining, I'm not convinced he would make a good Bond from it. Watch the full thing if you get chance, it's a fairly good watch.

I don't see he has a great look for Bond. The very first thing I thought when I saw him (whoever he is) is that he kind of resembled a young Benicio Del Toro. Maybe it's the expression.

I thought Madden was great in Bodyguard, but I don't believe they're looking for the next Bond when the current one still has a film to make so agree this is probably fake news! However in a few years time, I'd be happy to see him take on the role.

He couldn't save his own family at the red wedding, no thanks. Joking. Don't think he suits Bond though.
