Birds of Prey BoP Box Office Thread

Agree. They probably won't greenlit another movie set in this part of DC universe til TSS opening weekend so no Batgirl for next 3 years at least imho.

It's far too early too assume anything. We have no idea what WB will do moving forward.

Reeve's Batman film could be a dumpster fire for all we know, so why put their entire faith in him... everyone justs needs to calm down with the doom and gloom at this point.

Again a little above initial estimates for the OS. Looks like it will come around 80-90 WW for the weekend.

What I don't get how some in this thread talk about box office this/box office that, while continuing to admit that they will not pay to see the film, so just going over failure type scenarios for fun or what? Kinda odd to be honest. lol

I haven't seen Rise of Skywalker, but my ass wasn't in that box office thread going over numbers like it was my money. Eh.

I guess I'm still old school in that way, wait and see, and first of all, actually see the film first before talking about this director shouldn't get so much control or Margot failed etc. Because from a film pov, they did not miss.

I don't think Gotham City Sirens is happening because:
A) With these numbers there's zero way in hell they force Matt Reeves to connect the worlds to put Kravitz Selina there.
B) With these numbers there's zero way in hell they allow Margot to cast her own Selina.
C) With these numbers there's zero way in hell they'll greenlit another girl gang movie.

And if I had to guess, the access to Ivy is gonna go to Matt Reeves for his Batman trilogy if he wants to use her at some point. So no Harley + Ivy as well.

So its the end of the Batman side of DCEU huh. Yeah I cant see them throwing more Batman characters in to this universe. I'm curious to see how Suicide Squad is going to end up.

Maybe this is exactly why Barbara, Selina and Ivy were not in this.

Well I am curious about the landscape of the Batman franchise and DC films moving forward.

People are curious about numbers. A lot of people go into almost every box office thread. And it's interesting to analyze why movies don't do as much as people think it will. Especially on opening weekend
Sorry were not praising a movie you like when it, as of now, isn't doing great at the box office
It's not that deep

Again, I'm not saying folks gotta praise this flick, but some have questioned how much freedom the director and Margot got, as if that would've changed the box office result. And you don't have to like me finding this odd, ti's fine. Like I said before, sometimes good flicks just don't catch on for various reasons.

I'm mostly just salty to have seen this before, we should've gotten a Dredd trilogy by now.

:wall:

Basically if you want the thing to do well, go see that **** and encourage people you know to do the same. I have no dog in this fight as I'm not really a BoP fan even from the comics, but I do watch comic book flicks in general.

True, I mean Gordon supposedly isn't even Commish in Batman so how would Batgirl make sense if Babs is a little kid or isn't even born yet? He might not even be married.

Also how do we know that Reeves wants to use Ivy? We barely know anything about this movie. Too many assumptions being made

A friend who liked Skwad didn't even know this came out this week.

Yeah, Reeves doesn't seem like the type who will embrace the more out there ''comicbook'' type villains, like Clayface or Ivy. I think Ivy and Oracle would be a good guess, IF we got a sequel. That was actually one of things that did bother me about this flick, I get that this is HQ film, but no way in hell does an active Batman let all this stuff go down. lol

I've got to wonder if this isn't also a sign that Batman as a whole isn't starting to cool off because of over saturation? More and more Batman and Batman related figures are starting to peg warm. I live in a small market area in the US and when figures are stocked its one maybe two cases and during the Christmas season maybe three. And Batman and related figures are almost always the first to go and for the last year or so it's like I wonder how many Batman figures I'll see. But to be fair my area may be an anomaly.

I should add that I'm just using figures for my example because I was just looking at them last night.

To be honest, the main attraction of BOP for me, aside from the female ensemble concept, is Jurnee's Black Canary. I've liked Jurnee as an actress for awhile, but really fell in love with her from Underground. Black Canary has always been a character I've liked and had some interest in partly because she's cool as hell and partly because I dig comic book couples of which her and Oliver are one of the main ones. I typically have very low interest in Gotham-centric characters, including Batman.

I have been keen to see the movie since it was announced and found the production news and promotion, then the reviews, even more encouraging. However, even I haven't been able to pay for tickets and see this yet mostly due to bad weather (flood warning from heavy rain Thursday, snow Friday). I probably won't get to see it until sometime next week, and I know a few friends who wanted to see it around Valentine's Day.

Heck I don't even think they would be opposed to letting Reeves recast Harley eventually. Margot is not as indispensable as they once thought.

That's all if, IF Matt Reeves Batman is a success, which I think that right now there's no reason to think it won't be, I mean, dude posted a picture of a couch and that got 91k likes lmao.

Right, the same Margot who has her film production company on the WB lot. Dude, I bet you would consider The Batman a failure if it doesn't get a billion at the box office. Heh.

I wouldn't consider it a failure but if it doesn't reach 900 million when Joker made a billion I can see why WB would raise an eyebrow.

Age of Ultron gave Wanda a costume she only wore one time for a matter of seconds that was better than anything I saw Harley, Canary, or Huntress wear in the marketing.
Yes but that was a Marvel film that had an INSANE budget (sites say $300 + million dollars.)

Of course TB should make 1B. Mainly if China adds 120+.

I didn't say it wouldn't, but that some may call it a failure if it doesn't, while still making a good chunk of profit. I kinda expect WW84 to reach them digits this time.

Reeves might just kill Batman in his third movie, which may very well get released 7 or 8 years after his first Battinson movie.

Even if he doesn't kill Batman, I doubt he would be open to having other superpowered heroes / villains run around Gotham.

And he likes to be secretive and likes to keep you guessing, lol.
