One minute you say treat them like normal movies now dont ? Bah :p

Bah to you good sir, you twist my words until they are all twisty like!

The thing is im talking about writing the same set of beloved characters, wouldn't there be a chance that since it isn't the same guys wriitng them that the humour and personality might fall flat ?

As for POTC2 ,well worse reviewed certainly but the characters and style were the same, non of the humour had gone but god was it padded out storywise:(

BTW are you wanting Shrek 3 to make the most ? or just you believe it will ?

Most of the new creative talent of Shrek 3 had major hands in the other two movies, these aren't people they picked up on some street corner and offered candy to.

I don't NOT want Shrek to make the most, but if I was to pick of this list a movie that I would trully want to see make the big bucks, it'd be either Ratatouille or maybe even Evan Almighty since I think Steve Carrell is a hoot.

Well played :D

I should hope not lol but imagine if someone else wrote ROTK instead of Fran Walsh and PJ ? would there not have been the chance that a new writer(s)could lose the essence and charm of the characters and indeed lack the wit ?
I know it's like one big team but still is it not even a possibility ?
of course to be fair the coin has two sides, these new writers may get the essence spot on and be funnier.
just playing devils advocate with the situation

Ratatouille ? any particular reason ? i didn't really get that good a vibe off the trailer but my fav animation trailer recently was Happy Feet so what do i know lol :D

There will obviously be a chance of this shift in talent can ruin the recipe by trying something different, or just plain not getting it, but in this case, where much of the creative talent is legacy, I don't see that happening. This compounded that the average person wouldn't know a Shrek writer or director if they were ogres themselves, tells me this movie is something near a sure thing.

Big Brad Bird fan here, just want the guy to be successful so he is always free to do whatever he wants, which hopefully includes a sequel to The Incredibles or Iron Giant . . maybe The Bride of the Iron Giant!

They wouldn't have to know there was a writer change or director change they would just know that somethign was missing in Shrk 3 that they liked aobut the previous 2 movies...IF of course they did mess up

Talented man,i'd personaly love an Incredibles sequel, one of the best movies(animation or otherwise) in the action/adventure genre over the last few years IMO

I have doubts about RAT. I dont think it will make more than $180m.

Spider-Man 3
28 Weeks Later
Shrek the Third
Pirates of the Caribbean 3
Ocean's 13
Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer
Evan Almighty
Live Free or Die Hard
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The Bourne Ultimatum
Rush Hour 3

Surely next summer must set a new record when it comes to sequels. And even if I do look forward to some of them it still feels kinda depressing seeing that long list of sequels. One can't help wonder if this is what summers is going to be all about in the future; the same franchises over and over again

I don't expect Ratatouille to do anything amazing at the box office, I just want it to.

Pixar has a golden touch at the box office. Cars showed amazing legs, and it's considered a weak link in the Pixar chain. Rat should do $150 mill at the very least, IMO.

Wow, after seeing that list I can say the Hollywood is deffinetly flooding the market!

Same things were said about Finding Nemo and Cars, and they ended up terrific, I'd wait until you see some more footage and an actual trailer before judging, this IS Brad Bird after all.

Actually I was predicting $274m for Cars and $298m for FN.

Yeah i never fancied Nemo and after seeing it im still not sure why it was so popular but it cleaned up at the BO and on DVD,more so than The Incredibles:(

Which predictions were these: the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd ones? ;)

Just more universal appeal than The Incredibles, cutesy fish appeal more than not-so cutesy superheroes.

But The Incredibles made enough money, it was hit and one of the best animation movies IMO

He just wishes the better of the two movies(his opinion), made the most money.

heh, yeah i guess that's true,i thought the Incredibles was a brilliant blend of intelligent humour/relatable themes and breathtaking animation
I liked Nemo as well but just didn't really think it was as good
Toy Story 2 is still the best IMO
