Guardians of the Galaxy Bradley Cooper IS Rocket Raccoon

According to the GOTG red carpet premiere interview, Cooper got the part after Marvel made a mock-up animation of RR and stuck it over Cooper's peformance with Robert De Niro in Silver Linings Playbook.

That makes me wonder if he did in fact audition for the role, or they just head hunted him. Also, if they did use his SLP performance as an indicator of Rocket, then maybe his voice won't be that different from his normal voice in real life.

From what i've heard so far, he doesn't really sound like Cooper at all.

I only seem to see plastic figure versions of Rocket Raccoon being showcased or advertised. Are there any plush versions coming up?

Just wanted to pop in and say, having seen the film, that Cooper is one of the best things about this movie--and that's in a movie that's full of great things. I had no idea he had this kind of performance in him, and it's fantastic.

He's always been able to do this kind of stuff, I think fanboys just thought he was too "pretty" or whatever.

Fantastic voice-work from Bradley, I was almost even positively surprised despite being a fan of the casting choice and Bradley in general; that's how much he impressed me. Nothing fancy but just a greatly nuanced performance where you never thought twice about the bizarreness of a walking, talking raccoon. It's a confident, cocky voice but Bradley definitely managed to slip in a tattered soul in there.

Also huge praise to the effect team for bringing him to life with those same nuances.

Cooper gave an perfect performance, i was worried he was going for a quick cash-in or something.

I liked the part where:

Rocket got drunk and started ranting about everyone always insulting him and being experimented on/turned into a "monster."

That was genuinely quite sad. :csad:

Favorite line:

"why do you still have that thing?!"

Right after, [BLACKOUT]first use of the infinity gem at the Collector's sanctuary[/BLACKOUT]

Cooper's Rocket was exactly as Gunn described, the "heart of the film". The character basically expresses what the audience is thinking half the time.

I still recall the *****ing when he was cast. We go through the same **** every time, and every time the actor blows it out the water.

Bradley Cooper was a real standout in this film with his voicing of Rocket. He practically vanished into the role, because he was so convincing in how he expressed Rocket's thoughts and read his lines. He managed to astutely portray both the cocky, cantankerous part of Rocket's personality, as well as the sad, painful part of him. It was really well-done, and Rocket contributed hugely to the film's humor as well.

I really fell for Rocket too. As Gunn said, Rocket was the emotional core of the team. While watching, I wasn't thinking about it being Cooper voicing a CGI raccoon; I was seeing and hearing a tortured soul trying to find a purpose in life who happened to be a walking, talking raccoon. Cooper did such an amazing job in bringing Rocket to life.

And I recall that I loved the casting from the beginning. :D

My favourite scene in the film was when Rocket was drunk and going off on how everyone treats him horribly. Cooper was brilliant and he crafted a performance that NO ONE believed could actually work, and pulled it off so spectacularly that I now want to hang around bars with him

Rocket was my favorite character in the movie. A hilarious scene stealer, and he had heart and emotion. A talking raccoon, one of the best characters I've ever seen in a CBM.

I actually notice more that with these Marvel movies, more often than not it's the casting choices that nobody complains about that end up being criticized in the end (Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2, Ben Kingsley in Iron Man 3, Christopher Eccleston in Thor 2). Usually not to the fault of the actor, but the way the character is written.

I remember some of the outcry when Bradley Cooper was first cast as Rocket. I remember being optimistic when he was cast (and that's probably because I had just seen Silver Linings Playbook right before, and Cooper is nothing short of excellent in that movie).

Anyway, Bradley Cooper KILLED IT in this movie. He was even better than I expected.

One of my favorite parts of the entire movie was when Rocket was sobbing over Groot's death. A sobbing Raccoon with anger management issues ... It sounds ridiculous on paper, but Cooper sold it so freaking well. And when Drax started to pet him ... GAH. So cute. It was perfection.

I loved how you could tell he had the little gears in his head turning when he was putting something together.

You could definitely tell he's always thinking of a plan or scheme. It was almost like he had a compulsion to do so, but probably one driven by the need to survive everything he's been through in his life.

Along with Drax and Ronan, our pal Rocket was one of my favorite characters of the film I just loved every minute of him.

Rocket seriously did not sound like Cooper. Like if I didn't know he was the voice, I wouldn't link him up with it. This is a good thing mind you because Rocket comes off as Rocket and not Bradley Cooper playing Rocket.

Cooper did an amazing job at creating a voice that's still similar his own but unique enough to make it believable as Rocket.

Which once again proves that fanboys don't know ****.
