Guardians of the Galaxy Bradley Cooper IS Rocket Raccoon

Not really getting the irony there. But okay.

Basically the nerds would say the accent sucks. They're *****ing about him using his own voice as opposed to an accent that they would immediately decry more than likely.

It's a talking raccoon for Christ's sakes. He could of been British, Russian, Irish, German, etc and it would have fit.

Man comic book fans are an impossible bunch to please.

That BTS stuff was awesome, I was hoping for an accent from Cooper as well but his normal voice sounds fine.

The thing is, accents are hard to do (even for a lot of otherwise good actors). If you can't pull it off, then it's REALLY noticeable/distracting. I'd rather that an actor not even try to do an accent than try one and have it sound goofy/bad.

" Has a tendency to bite " lol

The thing is, Gunn wanted Cooper for Brad's voice because he really needed someone to handle the brutal comedy/drama that Rocket will likely have. Cooper's been nominated for an Oscar, he did a phenomenal job with SLP, playing a darker, obsessive character. And we know he can handle comedy deftly.

For me, those qualities trump whether or not he'll give Rocket an accent to be honest.

I hope they sell glove puppets of Rocket Raccoon.

Thankfully, the studios could really care less what they think. As much as they may want to believe, these films aren't made for them...

The really weird thing is that I think BC's natural voice (or maybe slightly exaggerated voice) works really well for Rocket this way. RR sounds really tough, kinda street.

The Cockney accent, while great, has been done numerous times, so I'm ready for something different. And if Cooper can find ways to emote and bring the funny in voicework, he'll have nailed it.

Basically this, you wrote out my thoughts :yay:

I'm in the minority that was never a fan of the cockney accent.
Must be that back when I read the Abnett/Lanning stuff I hadn't been exposed to it and in my head he sounded North American, so I'm more than fine with Coopers familiar voice, it carries a lot of personality.

I agree with what Loki882 said, basically it is better not to force an accent on an actor otherwise it could come off terribly.
Just imagine Scarjo having played Black Widow with that classic sultry Russian accent... It would have been awful because that isn't her comfort zone as an actress.

Yeah I cant disagree with this, I would prefer Cooper just gave the best performance he can in all honesty. Hence why I dont mind him just using his normal voice.

Remarkable! Wonderful what people are doing with cgi these days.

I heard Bradley coopers voice but not well so I'm not sure if I like it. It sort of sounded like Bradley cooper as rocket as opposed to voice acting. Maybe I'm wrong though. Did anyone hear an accent?

Personally when I read the abnett/Lanning stuff I always imagined an italian American accent

It was only one line, so I'm not going to make a final rash judgment. But after just that one line, I'm not blown away. I felt like it was a lack of effort to use what is basically his regular voice.

But again, it was only one line, so we'll see when we get more footage.
