Damn it, Breaking Bad, you did it again. Last night's episode was even bettter than last week's, I'd say. It was much quieter and all about the fallout, but that's what made it so effective. Breaking Bad is a heavily serialized show, but even within the spectrum of serialized TV, this show makes everything count. Nothing can be forgotten or taken back, and it makes for such satisfying viewing. I'm not saying I thought they'd forget that a possible witness to the train robbery was shot dead last week, but the skill with which the follow-up was written - Walt's commitment to his "empire business" (a quote surely pervading internet memes this very moment), Mike's and Jesse's assuredness that this can't go on - impresses me so damn much. Plus, we had a great reference from Jesse to the amount Walt originally said he needed to make, and that was great to hear because it not only illustrated Jesse's perspective, but it was one of those beautiful little "oh, how things have changed" moments. And Skylar found out that Walt told Marie about the affair with Ted - a moment that didn't need to happen as much as the others, but kept me fascinated in Skylar's development. Hooray, writers with memories and commitment! Whether it gets there or not, every episode of Breaking Bad aims to be great. Not good, great. I hate to see it ending, but man, what a thrill it is to watch it go.
