Breaking Bad - Part 2

Mike's guy was the head Colonel from SG: Universe.

But he did look Wolverine-esque

The dinner scene was why I love Breaking Bad so much. Each episode has at least one hilarious moment, some being in a very dark way, but it is there. I get a solid laugh and intense drama every week, that is why it is so good.

My random thoughts about the episode:

  • Good to see Spiderbro back. Though the way Todd was eyeing him was a little creepy.
  • Clearly the spider is symbolic of something or maybe even has some kind of plot significance.
  • Marie was looking good this episode. :hrt:
  • After the scenes of Mike listening to the DEA saying he'll slip up sooner or later and Jesse looking freaked out at Walt whistling, followed by the scene of both of them confronting Walt and then meeting someone in the desert...I thought for sure they rolled on Walt.
  • This "Deckland" fellow looks like the kind of guy you might want to use a machine gun on at some point in the future...
  • There were a lot of police sirens in the background audio of this episode. A sign of things to come?
  • Walt talking about Grey Matter was great. It gave some really good insight into his character and motivations.
  • It also made me speculate that "Heisenberg" has always been Walt's true persona and "Mr. White" always his mask.
  • The dinner scene was fantastic. "Theeeese are choice!" :woot:
  • Walt HAS ONCE AGAIN thrown away a chance at getting out clean.

Why would Walt want out though? He'd just be counting down his days by himself without the business.

Cause he could be out with $5 million but he wants more. They're always at risk by staying in the business.

Safely getting out of an incredibly dangerous business without going to prison and five million dollars in his pocket seems like a pretty good reason to accept that offer. And he wouldn't be alone. I mean, his marriage to Skylar is way beyond repair, but if he cut all ties to the meth business he could still salvage some sort of relationship with her and his kids as well as the rest of his family.

That's how a normal person would see it, BUT this is Walter White we're talking about.

I dont even think its greed that motivating him. He's all about ego

Walter's nobody without Heisenberg, he would never forsake that identity for all of the money in the world.

This show fly's by so fast that when the episode ended I was like "what the ****?" Felt like it was only on for like 10 minutes

His family would be safe, he could divorce Skyler, move to some exotic island and spend his last few years in peace. Win win for everybody. But greed has overcome him. More people are going to die when they don't have to.
The only family that matters to him is being watched by the head of the DEA. Greed hasn't overcome him, his pride has, he wants redemption for screwing up with Gray Matter. About more people dying, the meth industry is going to continue to cause deaths whether Walt is involved or not.

Any relationship he salvages with Skyler will be worth nothing, they have gone beyond repair. Soon Walt Jr. will be going to college and Walt will be dead by the time Holly can talk. There is nothing for Walt but the meth trade.

Well Walt sees that he can easily make 20x that amount in little time.

I got pretty tense when Mike stopped Walt from moving the methylamine. I was really wondering if he was gonna wrestle the gun away and take Mike out.

I wonder what Walt's plan is going to be? I assume he'll [blackout]get the cash from fat Hugh Jackman then kill him and keep the methlymine[/blackout]

Alas, Breaking Bad is never that simple.

Jesus ****ing Christ, Marie. That look at the end... jesus ****ing christ.

"Everybody wins."

Well like Jesse said he wanted less than 20% of what he will get when they started doing this. Yea he can get substantially more but staying in the business always means he has a chance of being caught.

Once he's out, sure he has basically nothing left except money. All the power and notoriety he had with being Heisenberg will be gone but like others have pointed out his hubris is driving him.

I was kind of expecting Todd to kill Mike and take over as Walt's enforcer. Probably will still happen.

12 year old Matt Damon enforcer? Yah.

I wonder what Walt's plan is for everybody to win. Does Walt cook for these other guys, since they'll get their methylamine and access to the blue meth? I don't see that being likely, since it's clear Walt has zero interest in being subservient to anybody.

That's how Walt sees things, but it's not the truth.

The bigger issue is that Walt doesn't want to turn into the man that he would have to become to get those parts of his life back.

This was such a great episode though. Between the dinner scene, the Grey Matter speech, and that goddamn last look at Mike... dear lord, I need to catch my breath.

Only 2 more.

It will be on of those "The only reason I'm talking to right now is because we share children" things. Skyler and Walt have both done terrible things to each other, and to take a guess, I don't really think Walt was the happiest dude around pre-cancer so I wouldn't doubt he and Skyler being unhappy for quite a while before he entered the meth business.

You know this how?
He is involved in a business where he could die any day. He has a disease that pop back up at literally any moment. Also I think Walt knows that Holly's life will be a lot better with Hank and Marie in the back of his head.

That's how Walt sees things, but it's not the truth.
What is there though? To me it seems he has nothing but his Heisenberg life.

Man I am already amped for next Sunday! Why can't this show be 2 hours long? It goes by so fast
