BvS BvS Rottentomatoes score - how important will it be, and what do you hope for? - Part 5

This is depressing. Superman doesn't deserve this.

I really do worry for the DC Cinematic Universe. I'm not at all worried for comic book movies altogether, though (especially after how well Deadpool has done and how Marvel Studios keeps on truckin').

This is the attitude to have with this. People loved the crap out of Deadpool because 1.) it was a fun movie and 2.) they totally got the character right.

If you had said that after X-men Origins: Wolverine, that Ryan Reynold's would reprise the role in a solo Dead Pool movie and it would make more money it's opening weekend than Spider-man, Iron Man and Man of Steel, people would think you were nuts.

But audiences are smart, they will support a film if it's a good film. They don't care about the genre. A good film is a good film.

Their inability to strike when the iron was hot, is the biggest problem WB has had. They only started planning a shared universe following Marvel's tail.

Just imagine them having a foresight like Marvel did, planning their universe on the laurels
of The Dark Knight trilogy instead of starting all over.

Imagine a Batman replacement spin-off with JGL, a decent Superman film, a Wonder Woman spin-off, a Superman sequel with the temporary Batman in which similar to the Empire Strikes Back the good guys aren't strong enough, which in turn makes Christian Bale come from retirement, taking over the mantle while JGL becomes Nightwing.

There's your Justice League film. Gazilion $ guaranteed. During that film you can add Flash or Aquaman, or you can leave them for the sequel.

WB, on the contrary, isn't building a universe. They have had a single film that wasn't very well received and instead of slowing down they've crammed everything into the sequel hoping to elude about 5 steps in the build-up so they just have their money making machine in the Justice League films.

Didn't they learn anything from Sony and their ASM2 debacle?

The last thing a DC universe needed was TDK trilogy. They screwed up Superman and that was the beginning of the end. Delay JL, get a director in here, and send off Batfleck and Cavill respectfully. Maybe do a Batfleck solo.

One Justice League movie is all we need, or film two back to back, but we need a new director and ample time to get a new team in place. That's the play.

I remember saying a couple months ago (with of course the usual backlash from other Hypesters on here) that Synder and WB only cares about Batman and ta-da here we are...

They only care because the general audience cares. It's nothing against Superman, people are just more into Batman. I mean...his name is first for a reason.

Just got out of a screening with IMAX execs and employees. Will elaborate later. Honestly one of the most miserable movie going experiences of my adult life. Two 10-ish year old boys were crying on my way out. Icing on the cake. Snyder has to go. How dare they release this thing.

Wait seriously? That last line leads me to believe you're kidding. But maybe you really did hate it that much.

I want to like this movie so bad. :csad:

People for ages talked about WB finally having a plan, the issue is the plan they delivered wasn't the right one. It was never about playing the slow game and carefully building things up and ensuring it all fit together, it was a plan to throw something at the wall and hoping it would stick. An all in bet.

please tell me you're joking

I'm laughing hysterically

Jesus, that's bad.

I genuinely hope they were crying over something else.

Wait seriously? Damn, I hope you're kidding.

My second viewing. This is the saddest most depressing superhero movie I've ever seen. I was wrong. It isn't serviceable. To the fans the audience or the characters. I'm standing here with a group of crying kids and my heart hurts

Marvel and X-Men+Deadpool are still going to be strong.

Personally can't wait anything Deadpool related in X-Men properties. Last couple of year movies become formulaic and with set tone to what expect in it before even see the film. Deadpool changed the game in that way. And just him in other X-men related properties will give difference to movies.

Marvel will continue doing this what they are doing until people get bored. And get bored not of superhero movies, but piss poor formula Marvel is currently shutting into our mouth pretty damn hard. It's like drinking good soda or juice, after some extended time you wont drink that for rest of the life. I just waiting moment it happens. And as Spider-Man fan I hope that happens after Spider-Man movies.

Oh that was obvious from day one, no? I could tell this was a "throw **** at the wall" situation.

But I never imagined it being actual ****. I mean, I prepared for mediocre, but if the critics are "right" (however right an opinion can be...) than maybe I hopped for too much.

I actually agree Superman is now a tainted property and he will never get a solo film again. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams have been screwed over by WB/DC yet again.

If Superman is tainted by this, so is Batman.

Snyder just tainted the golden goose. :csad:

Must be Superman fans, those kids.

Or they may just want a good superhero film.

Cant really say that till we see how much money this makes.

So much drama in here.

We're talking about a movie...I think?

DC/WB continue to ignore what appeals to the demographic. That's their problem.

.

Nah, nothing to do with getting the character right. 95% of people have no idea who he is. It's a funny movie about a dude being a smart a** laced with non stop jokes. That's all. It's just a simple wide appeal movie. (Though to me it fell completely flat in the boring 2nd act and when they tried to pick up the laughs again I had already checked out.)

But, people do have a very strong view on who Superman and Batman are. and I can tell you, 80% of people are asking, "hey they're good guys, why are they fighting again?" Even though being completely faithful to the source material, the source material is only known by like 1% of people.

Maybe it has a sad ending..or they needed to pee. You can never know why little brats crying.

Remember the grimdark, edgy for the sake of it comics of the 90's? These movies probably feel like those terrible comics. All they are missing are pouches.

I'm so angry I'm shaking. Not kids man. Don't **** with kids

Give it to me straight. I was planning on waiting in line for hours at IMAX to see this thing. Should I do that or cancel those plans and just go to a regular theater where I don't have to wait?
