On physics? Um, college?

In college you learned that a man can't punch through a concrete wall?

And how do you know the specifications of that wall? I've seen a lot of walls in my time, and they ain't all the same.

Yes in college I learned that physics matter, even in movies. Why does Gwen Stacy's neck break when Spider-Man catches her? Why do Batman's Batarangs not go through people when he throws them full force? Force, mass, terminal velocity matters.

The Comedian is a normal guy who is past peak physical condition. There's no way he has the force to strike a cornered wooden support beam covered in a layer of drywall OR concrete and cause A. the material to rupture and B. his hand to not break. Not even Mike Tyson in his prime could do it. If you don't think so try to knock the corner out of a wall in your house with a baseball bat at full force.

We're not talking about the center of an object (its weakest point) we're talking at the corner (its strongest). Again, it looked cool, but it made no sense.

Oh, i was just expecting a smarter/more scientific explanation. Throwing around the word "physics" doesn't exactly prove your point.

Ever heard of calcification through cumulative trauma? Some martial artists have hands that can sustain a lot more damage than any normal human being, and that includes being able to punch through incredible hard things without breaking their hands.

Comedian is a normal guy? I don't know where you got that from. He is anything but normal.

:funny: You just put up an oscar winning movie's best scene to debate Batman v Superman. You know you lost right then and there? Right?

This isn't Oscar winning/Emmy winning writing (yet):

Daredevil Season 2

We don't get to pick the things that fix us, Red.
Make us whole.
Make us feel purpose.
My moment of clarity? It came from the strangest of places.
What kind of name is The Devil of Hell's Kitchen, anyway? I mean, really? I didn't ask for that name.
[Punisher] I'm sorry, I don't see you running from it.
I don't do this to hurt people.
- Yeah, so what is that, just a job perk? - I don't kill anyone.
Is that why you think you're better than me? - No.
- Is that why you think you're a big hero? It doesn't matter what I think or what I am.
People don't have to die.
Come on, Red.
You believe that? I believe it's not my call, and it ain't yours either.
Somebody ask you to put on that costume or you take it upon yourself? You know what I think of you, hero? I think you're a half-measure.
I think you're a man who can't finish the job.
I think that you're a coward.
You know the one thing that you just can't see? You know you're one bad day away from being me.

And finally, good writing that represent a glimpse of what Superman means to me from the actual Superman comics...

They seem to have learned little regard for human life...And nothing is more sacred than that." - Superman in Kingdom Come

"In this world, there is right and there is wrong...And that distinction is not difficult to make. The powers we have...The things we do...They're meant to inspire ordinary citizens...Not intimidate them...Not terrify them." - Superman in Kingdom Come

Most reviews fall into this category. Problem is a lot of them still clicked on "rotten" when submitting to RT. Which helps feed into things having to be either the GREATEST OF ALL TIME or THE WORST THING EVER.

Is this about Supes tackling that guy through that wall? Whether he killed him or not?

I think he's a goner lol...

Yerp. I don't think Snyder thought it through and that's the problem. It looked cool. That was enough

It did look cool. Superman reacted that way because it was Lois. Some people may have preferred super-breath, but a bullet can still penetrate a cranium faster than Superman can suck in a big gulp of air.

It also looked cool when Iron Man punched that one guy and he somersaulted through the air like a branch broken off a tree. The trauma that guy sustained was so severe, he was dead before he hit the ground. I'm down with that.

It's not.

I do too. I have no problem with it. I like murderers.

^This is true. It seems more of the older traditional martial artists indulged this practice.

It doesn't explain why Black Widow can knock down a Chitauri trooper, though. That just looked...unbelievable, even in a CBM.

That movie is a live action cartoon so it doesn't matter.

So just to be clear, Superman has never once addressed killing. We don't know how he feels about it other than the fact that he screamed after he snapped Zods neck. Is this correct?

I guess suspended disbelief only works in the DCeU?

I believe Clark made a post on tumblr about how people who don't like murder are just #homicideshaming.

The fact that we have 8 separate threads where we are debating the morality of the characters in this film is proof enough that the filmmakers did not succeed at presenting the best possible story, or movie.

The critics consensus is that BvS is not a quality film. The consensus here is that there is no consensus.

The fact that we, the comic book movie fans strain at finding a consensus amongst each other, is another sign that the quality of the film was questionable. I honestly believe and perceive the majority of us are disappointed in different aspects of the movie.

There are varying degrees of disappointment and degrees of delusion being expressed here. At the end of the day, I understand it is subjective. Even still, there remains a standard of quality and I am confident that a movie such as Marvel's The Avengers exceeds the quality of The Avengers (Uma Thurman). Batman vs Supes was supposed to be a movie that should rival the quality of the Jurassic Worlds, The Force Awakens, it didn't. This has been reflected in the great divide of opinion here, and will be further reflected in the subsequent weeks' box office results.

WB was lucky that RT rushed and put that critic consensus when there were under 100 reviews submitted

For some reason people seem to think, that in this world of grays that they have set up, that they will be addressing specific morals all the time. I don't see that happening.

He's willing to kill when he has to, and values human life, that much is clear.

And as far as Snyder not thinking about the wall thing, there's almost immediately a line from Superman stating that he did not in fact kill those men. Which, in the English language, easily suggests he killed no one from that group.

I think the MCU is more suited to a world of greys. The DCEU lends itself more to a black and white world. A world with hard set boundaries. A world shared by gods and men where there are clear lines of distinction between the actions that a god would make and the actions a man might take. To impose a grey world upon a black and white world would blur the lines of identity between both god and man and therefore create a crisis. The results of which are can be read on this thread lol.

Since you seem to have understood the movie perfectly and have it all mapped out in your head, explain the Africa sequence to me.
It's shown that Lex set Superman up to be blamed for the deaths that happened here. But who is it that died exactly? Innocent bystanders, or the terrorists? How is Superman at fault for a bunch of people being shot? How could anyone blame him here? What was Lex "setting him up for" exactly? I have my interpretation, but I'm asking for yours.

He's not at fault.

The point is that he was there when it happened. Not that he made it happen.

Luthor is just stirring up fervor.

It's essentially anti Superman propaganda.

Check out this guy's review:

What he says could well be applied to the fan community at large right now when he talks about the wider culture. I agree with a lot of what he said here.

That's not the case - most of the negative reviews are REALLY negative. They don't pull their punches in pointing out the chasm-size flaws inherent in this movie.

A lot of the positive reviews I've read even stay in the middle of things. They acknowledge this will be a movie diehard fans will probably enjoy, but that it's not without its flaws.

Bingo. I love it when filmmakers make movies for fans. Even if a movie is crapped on and fails to spark public interest (I.e. DREDD) at least it was made for fans. But if this movie even seems to have failed in that regard. Divided the fanbase even more.
