I made a post before the film was released and when the huge rush of negative reviews started to come in: I asked if this was going to become as poorly-received as Sucker Punch. Welp ... I'd say it's in the same ballpark.

I kinda wonder though, are there any critically panned movies that have fans believing them to be misunderstood masterpiece? For example, spider-man 3 was not so favorably reviewed and mostly everyone acknowledges it has problems. Some people still love it (me included) while acknowledging the shortcoming. I think this is the first time I see a critical panned movies with rather large group of defenders

Im not sure but I heard that the "hype goggles" just failed. Everyone wanted to like PM because "OMGz it's STAR WARZZZZZZZZZZ" but eventually that'll fade away.

i can understand it. transformers is a movie that doesn't take itself seriously, which is why critics view it in a different light/genre. bvs tried to be some deep serious philosophical thinking movie and in that regards, it failed and the reviews/ratings reflect that. just a poorly executed movie, plotwise and technically, that did not connect with many people.

And it deserves them. In all fairness, the last Transformers movie has the least amount of reviews in the series, which suggests that a lot of critics have given up on the franchise. Can't say I blame them. It's also a testament to how astronomically high the hype was for BvS. I'm very curious to see what the numbers are like for JL when it releases. The bad press and social media ridicule this movie received has been off the charts. WB may have really shot themselves in the foot with this one.

At this point, I think SS is the only thing that can rejuvenate interest as far as the GA is concerned. That movie is gonna need to be a cultural phenomenon on the level of GotG to wash away the stain from things like Martha and sad Affleck.

I don't think that'll happen with this.

TPM advocates have been making a return lately, but it seems to be some sort of pushback against the silly perception that SW is getting the "Mary Sue" treatment. I don't know what the heck has gotten into fandom lately.

It lived up to his word, it's not another Daredevil.
It's a bigger critical flop.

I quite liked Daredevil when I first saw it in 2003. I didn't have any kind of allegiance to the character, so a lot of the poor characterisations didn't bother me that much. It's aged badly, but it's certainly not the worst cbm, not by a long shot.

Well, he was right. Daredevil is clearly out of BVS's league.

Went to check other films that I liked or loved (several dozens) to see their critics reception... Only very few films got lower scores, IMO, than they deserve:
Leon - 71% with 6.7/10 (WTF, this film is a masterpiece)
Basic Instinct - 54% with 5.9/10
Resident Evil - 33% with 4.5/10 (one of the most dumb critic consensuses I ever witnessed)
Mortal Kombat - 33% with 4.5/10 (Marvel film of 90s)
And of course Man of Steel and Batman v Superman... Reaction is terribly harsh, especially in case of BvS. Oh well...

It's not like I don't understand what's a good film is, or my tastes are terribly different from 99% critic receptions of other films. I'll never accept or agree with the beating this film got.
