Sucks for me that the characters I care about most are the ones being mishandled. I'm unashamedly envious of you Marvel guys.

It's been dark times for DC post TDK.

Doesn't seem to be affecting Civil War so far.

Thank god it didn't. That movie deserved every penny coming it's way..such an amazing CB movie.

That said, you don't think that another high profile misstep such as this wouldn't affect the genre?

I don't really have a stake in Marvel vs. DC, I just like good movies. Marvel just happens to crush DC in that department, like DC crushes Marvel in animated series.

Yep... Yep.

In the past decade, if you take out Nolan's TDK trilogy the DC superhero movies have been consistently mediocre to awful. So they've just maintaining this trend post-Nolan.

Well the pop culture negativity and derision toward WB post BvS reminds me very much of the aftermath of Batman and Robin in 1997 and 1998. Yeah, there were films like GL and Jonah Hex, but outside of fanboys, the GA really didn't give damn about those films to begin with.

This is the most harsh criticism a Batman or Superman film has faced by the critics, fans, and GA since the summer 97 imo.

And you have my sincere sympathy. All I need do is remember AngHulk to put me right back in your shoes. Makes me count my blessings now.

I want to thank Civil War for making me appreciate BvS more

I agree. I can now fully appreciate how spectacularly bad BVS is. I did not need Civil War for that but after seeing it, it does highlight all of BVS's shortcomings.

You do live up to your username alright...

A failure like this lets studios know we won't just accept anything that you slap our favorite superheroes on.

:hehe:

guess I'm in the minority, but I liked both BvS and CW. I didn't think one was dramatically better or worse than the other, as you'd think based on the RT scores and reviews.

in fact, I think I actually enjoyed BvS a bit more than CW.

that being said, I'm ready for a reboot of the whole DC cinematic universe in favor of something more "traditional" to the comics.

just like DC comics will undergo a "rebirth" this summer and seemingly bring back more traditional elements to the characters, I want the DC cinematic universe to do the same.

Gotta disagree.
A high profile 'failure'like this will be bad for the genre as a whole

I keep hearing people say this. Does anyone have any evidence? Which is to say, can anyone point to a movie whose performance was hurt by some other, earlier, unrelated movie failing? Is it a thing that has even ever happened, unambiguously, or is it just cinematic Big Foot?
