The Other Woman with Cameron Diaz is predicted by most sites to win the w/e

Well, Cap doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would beat a woman so that makes sense.

Well what if she was bad? Like 32%/4.1 avg on RT kind of bad? That's more than justified, it's also a good deed. :woot:

Heaven Is For Real is also a contender for first since religious films not named Noah (which wasn't really religious) seem to be having very good holds.

Some interesting comparisons and dailies to look at

In dailies TWS is now on par with Iron Man and ahead of Iron Man 2 but both are entering into the lucrative Memorial Day w/e.

I think TWS can do $17-18m this w/e even if it drops under $2m for Wed & Thur

Winter Soldier crosses $400m int'l

24 April, 2014 | By Jeremy Kay

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier has reached $401.5m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

The film has opened in all its markets and crossed the $100m threshold in China on April 22. The worldwide tally factoring in $205.3m from North America stands at $606.8m.

Winter Soldier has amassed more than $28m in both the UK and South Korea, which trail China as the next biggest markets.

Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel Jackson and Robert Redford star.
=================================

Totals don't include U.S. Wed #s.

#s as of Wed

Domestic: $207.076m
Foreign: $401.5m

WW Total: $608.576m

$36.2M to go to beat TtDW's WW number and less than $59.5M to beat MoS's. Both WILL happen at this point.

After the w/e Cap 2 will be outpacing Thor 2 domestically by about $40 million.

By this time next week TWS will have the 3rd highest gross in the MCU...Beyond that I don't really care where it ends up. It puts Cap in the conversation with the big boys as a box office draw. When its said and done only Spiderman, IronMan, & Batman have had a solo film earn more...

Seriously...even with TASM 2 and Godzilla coming out, after next week TWS can literally nickel and dime its way throughout the remainder of its run and earn beyond $700 mil

It is amazing that CATWS has done so well after just four weeks of release worldwide. TDW and MOS amassed their totals after 16-week runs at the box office. Those films also benefited from release dates that are generally considered much more favorable than TWS's March/April date. This proves that a great movie with strong word of mouth can do well whenever it is released.

My heart is literally full of so much Cap joy!

Also, by spreading out release dates, Marvel/Disney got a threepeater/possible fourpeater at number 1 at the box office. I don't know if Cap would've scored this much $$$ in the summer, because of the more direct competition. However, the good word of mouth + ideal release date + popularity of the MCU + legitimately great CBM all factored in here for a successful installment.

I'm just glad that Cap's franchise looks to be the crown jewel at the moment of the original Avengers lineup.

And so many people thought it was an impossible feat going into the film. I've always felt it had a shot at MoS. Once again, Cap proves the naysayers wrong :cap:

I always thought it could get up to $700 million if it was phenomenal (which imo it was) but after Thor 2 I wasn't sure if it could get that much because I expected it to make much less than TDW internationally. I'm very happy that wasn't the case.

I didn't know it would perform THIS well internationally, but I always felt that if the movie was great, then it could challenge Thor 2 and MoS overall and even beat them. So glad it looks to be the case, because this film really deserves the money.

I hope we all realize that Captain F***ing America will have earned more in a solo film than everyone this side of Iron Man (once), Batman (twice), and Spider-Man (4 times)...

Hell for that matter CA:TWS will be a top 10 superhero film solo or ensemble...damn right!

I'm hoping it does pass MOS actually. That's the only way I see WB moving that date of BVS. It's so stupid that they'd take that date knowing Marvel had it. I honestly thought that Cap would get slaughtered on that date but if Marvel does a death of Steve Rogers, it won't be the mismatch that people make it. It's Chris Evan's last movie on contract(not counting Avengers 3, but Sebastion has signed a 6 or 9 picture deal and has only been in 2 thus far.
