Chapter 10: "Truth and Consequences" discussion thread 11/26

I got the impression Mama Petrelli has the opposite of The Haitian's power in that one ep with Peter in the future.

she probably didnt have one, she was justa scientist.
I don't know. Mama Petrelli heavily implied that all of the 12 had powers with the way she lectured Matt during his telepathic interogation. She made it seem like they were all a part of the same family and that the younger generation should show respect to their elders.

Not really.

Peter unknowingly let his mind 'heal.' As Adam told him to do in the following episode.

it has also been implied that Mama Petrelli may have some 'influencing' power (i cant remember the official term) in that four months ago ep w/nate's wife.

Terrible episode.

They REALLY dropped the ball on the whole past generations story arc.

There was so much possibility to go back and revisit the days of the 12 but they just fell flat on their faces.

Bring on Season 3 if we're lucky.

I agree that this arc had so much potential. I think maybe the virus storyline helped to ruin the whole 12 saga. They should've just concentrated on the secrets behind the 12, how they're all connected, how they're all connected to the younger gen, and focus on the fact that one of them is going around offing them. I think that plot would be enough without this doomsday virus.

Claire sure was feisty when she stood up to Elle.
If not inconsistent.

"Oh, Dad, I should have listened to you. Wait! I have a brilliant idea! I'll do the exact opposite of what you wanted me to do! I'll go public even though you encourage hiding! I clearly didn't learn my lesson! Oh well!"

And yes...even I can take shots at Claire when she's being written like a complete dunce.

I initially complained about the actors - though they are to blame for some of the problems. But it's the writers who I attribute this failure to. :down

Claire's still my favorite character, but she was treated like garbage this season. I do think Hayden performed admirably with what she was given.

So next week is the finale. :down

we were also told by the writers/producers/whatever that Mama Pettrelli can "do a power that another hero can already do, only w/less concentration/exertion" or something along those lines. i'm guessing teleportation, but then hiro's not having so much trouble with that so much any more.

It was ridiculous.

She's blaming herself for Noah's death, saying that she should have listened. So what's her brilliant plan? Go against everything you've learned!

Agreed. It's sloppy writing.

I hate this season's writing for the most part. Some of my favorite characters suffered greatly. They should go on strike for being sacked with ****ty material.

That being said, Noah rejoining The Company will put a dent in her plan.

nothing like outing yourself for spite.

Yep, this sucks. If only the writer's strike would end and we could get a mini-season before the actual Season 3. That would be cool.

Bright side: 2 more heroes will die.

And with Niki still uncured, and Mohinder's need to return to New York ASAP...I might just see one of my dreams become a reality.

Here's hoping!

People seem to be getting the wrong thing from Claire's little threat to Elle.

She was implying that she was gonna use her powers to show the world, and that she was gonna let it be known that The Company was after people like her and show what they do to them.

She essentially said she's gonna do what her father was trying to do all along - take down The Company.

Am I the only one who thought the acting was a bit off?

I've come to expect it from Niki, that's no surprise. But the whole conversation about Saint Joan's secret identity was borderline cringeworthy. And Hiro's little scream at the end was so stupid. I understand that's part of his character, but it killed the kickass-ness of the cliffhanger. Oh, and young Kaito was terrible!

"Take him to the holding cells! Throw away the key!"

Ok...ok...that's a writer's flaw. Seriously, who the Hell uses those cliches?

Don't be surprised if Niki bites the dust trying to be a hero, there are spoilers (nbc.com forums) about it, we'll see next week I guess.

Peter got dumb it seems, trusting Adam so much, even over Hiro.... well, just more drama for the viewers. The "throw away the key!", you are so right, it was cheesy pathetic, lol.
Despite all these, the episode is one of the best of the season, my main worry for the "finale" is that it ends up being rushed. I'm saying this because of the writers strike, they filmed an alternative finale, so maybe is not going to be as good as it could be, answer next week.

Dang alternate perspectives! You do have a point. But Claire and Noah are going to clash again now that he's back with The Company.

So basically...she's going public when that's the last thing Noah would have wanted?

Good job, Claire! :down

well i guess when you have four months of one-on-one time to suck up and gain his trust, it would be pretty easy to be kinda close minded about the whole thing.
