Chapter 10: "Truth and Consequences" discussion thread 11/26

It looks 100% certain that Niki dies as well. The preview shows Monica and Micah clutching themselves outside a Pizzeria as it explodes... sounds exactly like the spoilers.

Spoiler tags are our friend.

Niki and Maya are gone, but Maya could be resurrected by Mohinder (Spoiler TV).

Use tags please.

Maybe you should uh, you know, you should have some superhero fights, in your superhero show? Anyone hear me? Hello?

Am I the only one that was amused by this?

I didn't get a chance to read thru the past 16 pages so I apologize in advance if some of this has already been discussed. These are just some random thoughts anyways.

1) I'm wondering why Bob didn't use Claire's blood on Elle to heal her bullet wound? This made no sense to me.

2) Adam somewhat sarcastically made reference to the fact that a gunshot to the dome would kill him or Peter. But how can this be possible when HRG just recovered from head shot wound using regenerative blood? And yes I am aware of certain past instances where Peter or Claire went lifeless due to head injury. Just thinking out loud here.

3) Even though being "naive' seemed to be the theme for tonight's show, it will all be worthwhile, for me at least, if Peter sort of re-taps into his darkside for his showdown with Hiro. My favorite part of the episode was right after Hiro told Peter that he chose the wrong side, and then started to charge Peter. And then Peter sparked up his hand with an evil lil *****-eating grin on his face. Of course I will probably be disappointed due to Peter failing to live up to his potential yet again, as he will most likely struggle to control his powers when he needs to the most.

Well, to answer that...it seemed to my that Bob was almost trying to use the wound to teach her a lesson. You know how fathers can be. Ontop of that, keep in mind, Bob couldn't have extracted that much of Claire's blood in a short period of time (a few pints, maybe). He has a limited supply. Not really worth using over a non-fatal, bullet graze.

Good question. I was also wondering how Adam can be sure that it kills? How has he tested this theory? Has there been a third healer? (Perhaps Adam is not Papa Petrelli, but Grandpa Petrelli and Papa Petrelli was whom he tested the theory on).

because the head was still there. unless the head (more specifically the brain) is completely removed from the body, or unless it's punctured (i'm guessing either the bullet went straight through or was removed), it will still be able to heal the body.

For 1, Mohinder took the blood to save Niki. I assume that he had possession of it, and Niki's life was a more pressing matter. Even Bob isn't that bad (I guess).

For 2, man I didn't think of it but MAJOR plot hole! I can understand Claire's head wound, as her brain was still intact, but yeah, either Adam and the scientist lady were wrong, or Noah should be dead.

For 3, blame the writers and the acting. Had it been better written and better acted, it COULD have been believable. That's why the writers want more money, I guess.
:cwink:

There has to be an actual object that is lodged in the brain, remember back when the stick was in Claire's head and the piece of glass was in Peter's?

There has to be something there that blocks that part of the brain permanently, if it's removed the powers kick back in.

All I know is, according to Adam and the scientist lady, a gunshot to the head is one that "you don't get back up from."

Noah got back up from it.

Either its a plot hole, or Claire's regenerative abilities differ slightly from Adam's.

Yes, that falls in with what I'm saying. The brain has to be completely disrupted (something lodged in it) or DESTROYED (shot gun to the head) and that's it.

Anything other then that won't work.

i think he was referring to the fact that a shotgun shot to the head at close range is more than likely to completley remove just about all of the brain which is required to send the message to the body to heal itself.

But didn't Adam get blown up in that explosion back in the past? Wouldn't that have killed him?

not if it didnt destroy his brain, just charbroiled everything else. if what you're saying was true, then clair should have been dead last season after subdoing Ted.

We have no idea how the explosion affected his body. For all we know it could have just charred him like when Claire went in to take out Ted, which wouldn't have any effect at all.

Yeah, but with Adam is was an actual huge explosion which should have blown him to bits. Unless his head was still intact and he put himself back together T-1000 style. lol.

Then the blood itself wouldn't heal, especially with someone who has died (in Noah's case).

I'm taking it as a plot hole. comb around and this last episode was littered with them.

or just regenerated the limbs that got blown off. a la the end of "Lizards"

i dont understand what you mean. i didn't say anything about blood.

I mean that if its the brain sending the message to the body to heal (thus destruction of the brain wouldn't allow for healing), then a blood transplant wouldn't help a dead person.

The brain is made of cells that cannot reproduce or regenerate, so if a brain is destrpyed, and I'm assuming enough of it in the case of Adam, et al., then that's when they're goners. They're essentially brain dead, and programmed cell death then occurs (I'm a biology nerd).
