Chapter 39 - “Angels and Monsters” – Discussion Thread 10/13/08

hey I never thought of that, and now I feel a little stupid.......

yeah i don't read most of the posts lol. I really have followed the Hiro storyline very closely lately. I've been mostly reading up on some other stuff..........

Well I hope Hiro really didn't stab Ando without stopping time and setting something up with him.

This episode was OK, I guess. I liked Daphne figuring out that Linderman wasn't really there. I'm glad Maury was the one behind the visions of Linderman. I was worried about them bringing ghosts into the show. I am not liking Mohinder and Maya's story. Hopefully, Daphne will recruit Mohinder and bring him into a more interesting storyline, or his interactions with Tracy and Nathan will rejuvenate the story.

I'm not really happy about Arthur Petrelli being alive. I've suspected since season 1 that he was secretly alive, so I'm not surprised. I just don't like "secretly still alive" stories. Hiro is still too goofy and childish for my liking, but I suppose that is just an element of the character I'm going to have to learn to accept because I doubt it's changing any time soon. Doyle looks like he will be freaky. I wonder how they will defeat him.

Seriously, I just realized that before my last post. It would've nice if Koz hadn't posted the damn synopsis for the episode after next week's so there can at least be a little suspense. Who the hell made that guy the official Episode Thread starter?
I started two episode threads. Is two a lot to you? If you don't want to read them, you are free to exercise some self control and not read them.

I think it is dumb to post threads that are 4 episodes away:o It is just like they want to have a thread.
I started them because I love getting episode synopses in advance, and I thought others might like to read them too. I thought the first post in an episode thread would be the best place to put each one so they wouldn't get bogged down or lost in a shuffle of other, unrelated posts. I guess thinking of all that makes me dumb, though. Thanks for the enlightenment.

all the cool kids love to post things a million years in advance they think it makes them teh awesome and everyone will like them..in truth its just annoying
zomg...r i cool now? than kan we b frinds? Tone down the rudeness.

I'm having a hard time understanding Peter's hunger for power. He automatically copies another person's abilities, why does he need to cut their head off? Peter proved in the last episode that he can figure out how the ability works when he used superspeed. Am I missing something?
Sylar's power is the power to understand intuitively how things work. This, apparently, causes him to have a hunger for knowledge. For Sylar, this knowledge is how powers work. For Peter, it's knowledge of people's motivations and secrets. Peter's not going after powers necessarily.

^I just don't want to be spoiled:o With 5 future episodes floating around on the front page in here...I would be mad if I accidentally clicked on one and read what I wasn't suppose to read that spoils something in the next episode. Because we don't have a non-spoiler section or a spoiler section here...it is hard to avoid spoilers.

I just watched this episode online, and wow! One of the craziest I'd seen in a while. Is Ando really dead? I wish Mr. Petrelli wasn't alive...he looks like one evil mofo :csad:

I have to admit, even though i didn't like this episode much it was my favorite for this season so far.

I can never forgive SYLAR for killing this character :(

Oh, also. The Vortex guy asked if Claire is not working for The Company than if she was working for a company called Pinehearst, a business card that the Vortex guy showed her. Pinehearst is where
Father Petrali now in bed sick or something

Anybody noticed that?

^Not until you just said it...good catch! So maybe Pinehurst has been also capturing people???? If Arthur runs that then you know they have some crazies locked up!

oh also, the fact that Nathan saw GOD goes to show how IGNORANT people can be.....

You guys can fill in the blanks

Yea uhh Pinehurst is where Daphne was meeting up with Linderman aka Maury.

O and on another forum someone mentioned to me that in the Jet li movie "Hero" that he stabbed someone a certain way that it wouldn't kill them but look like it... Maybe Kaito taught Hiro that during his Sword Training

Great episode.
-I certainely doubt that Hiro killed Ando. They must have staged it but don't ask me how.
- I liked seeing Adam again. I just hope he actually gets to do something other than being kidnapped by Knox. He should be the brainy type of villain. Cunning, scheming and manipulating.
- Mr Petrelli is totally bad ass. I wonder what kind of power he has. I bet it's empathy.
- I liked Claire a lot more this episode than i did the previous ones. She did good.
- What the hell is Mohinder doing?
- Too bad the black hole guy died. That power is pure ownage.

And he seemed like a nice guy too. unlike that puppetmaster who is just plain evil.

We don't know where the black hole goes! He could still be alive.

Hopefully! Maybe because he can create vortexes he can also survive in one..

Of course, the two big revelations (which to some degree were very predictable) was that "Linderman" was actually a hallucination conjoured up by Parkman's dad, and that Mr. Pettrelli is still alive, although clearly in some veggitative state and yet still very much alert. And whatever power he's got, it's obviously something which makes his own wife scared of him and a guy who can manipulate minds like Maury afraid of him as well. Another telepath? Hypnosis? Something that relates to how he told Angela that she couldn't move and she was frozen for a moment after her dream was over? Is he like that Puppet Master guy that's kidnapped Meredeth? We'll see, I guess.
I assumed that Maury Parkman was the one responsible for that. He was just using the image of Arthur Petrelli - just like he uses the image of Linderman.

To be frank, I'm getting annoyed with all the side-changing. Sylar's drifting into antiheroism (although still pretty twisted), Peter's dropping into villainy, Mohinder's just plain evil, Hiro (even though his is an act) is hanging around the specials-for-hire, Claire dabbled with some cold-heartedness...

I wish they'd just stick with stories like the Puppet Master. That's the kind of thing I want to see out of this show with Season 3. All this blurring of the lines is making it harder and harder to really give a damn about any of the characters.

That said, I'm still enjoying this show - albeit less and less as time goes on. I blame that on Mohinder, Tracy, and suddenly evil Peter, though.

Oh, also. The Vortex guy asked if Claire is not working for The Company than if she was working for a company called Pinehearst, a business card that the Vortex guy showed her. Pinehearst is where
Father Petrali now in bed sick or something

Anybody noticed that?

Yeah..the symbol is also the same symbol that is everywhere on the show.
