Chapter 40 - “Dying of the Light” – Discussion Thread 10/20/08

thats 3 too many. Its a power that is way too convenient and makes the person too powerful and uniteresting

Well I agree it's an annoying power but in Peters case only. (atleast for me it is). With Sylar and Arthur the means by which it's executed makes it interesting and original. With Peter I always thought it was a bit much and too simple.

Huh. So, I'm assuming that when papa Petrelli takes your power, it undoes everything it ever did for you, which is why Adam died.

No b/c if that was true the glass wound to the back of peter's head would've came back and him falling off the building would've screwed him over.

That seems kind of silly to me based on what little I know of how cells work, but they can have powers work any way they like as it is their show. I just wish they'd made Adam a normal instead of killing him. He was a cool character, and it might have been interesting for his character wise. Have the indestructible man suddenly become paranoid now that he's mortal.

I'm not arguing against that. This show seems to kill those characters that are actually... good.

But just look at it this way. He was past the time that his body naturally replaces his cells, so his constant ability to heal was the only thing holding him together at the age of 30 something. And that's the show's iffy explanation for it...

I noticed that while this season is better than last season, its still missing something essential to heroes. The tag line that gets everyone hooked in. In Season1 we had "Save The Cheerleader, Save The World" and "Are you on the list?". They need to start coming up with those again.

And it would be GREAT if Papa P makes Sylar normal, that would be funny and so saddening for Sylar. Plus then we wouldnt have those two being the savors.

Peter's only worked for me in the beginning when it looked like he only had access to the power when he was near the original person. When he started using them all at will, thats when it all went donwhill

Well would peters powers actually be gone? I mean his power is to mimic other peoples so wouldnt he just have to mimic everyones and he would have his dads? I mean its in his cells to MIMIC. Maybe im just nuts. I mean he will get them back but its just gay he lost them.

I'm sure we'll get those taglines soon. They were on the verge of it during the preview of next weeks episode.

Never had a problem with Peter being powerful, just the way he gets written as being half-way helpless or stupid when he shouldn't be.

That would make sense. but it seems like he while he absorbs the power, he sends the genetic power dna strand or whatever we call it into dorminancy. Since Peter was born with his power, I dont know how you could take them away permantly by just being a power sucker.

Fairly iffy. Especially since he turned to dust as if he'd been dead for much longer than he'd been alive. I mean, I understand the mentality of why they killed him: Have the new big bad kill the old big bad to show just how big and bad he is. But it's kind of a cheap move.

I didn't really like this episode either (big surprise, I haven't enjoyed any since the first episode of this season.) Hopefully it'll get good before the temporary hiatus or I'll just stop watching....but on the bright side...Meridith didn't die, cool....and the puppet master showdown was semi interesting.

But Im so tired of this new good Sylar :down
"Mother!!! I suddenly care sooo much about you!! Peter...or shall I say BROTHER!! Brother, lets go help MOTHER...is that cool Brother!?!Because mother is the only one that understands me, understand Brother!!?!"

its like OKAY!!! I get it, you guys are kin...now chill out a bit :whatever:
Oh and Mohinder is so annoying, geez.

It seems like Arthur has taken all of Peter's powers including his original power to mimic.

Peter's powers will return that's just a given (He is after all the Main Hero of this series)

I wish thats how they kept Peters powers since it would make him powerful while not being to powerful. And that was part of the greatness of S1 with Claire having to be there to lend Peter her power while he was blowing up.

Maybe im just not thinking correctly tonight, but since Peter just mimics the power, you would think that Mr.P wouldnt be able to get ahold of all of the powers Peter has mimiced and he would just get the main mimic power and start off from there.

Whatever happened to Kristen Bell? Slipped my mind...

They are trying too hard to make him sympathetic.

Adam :csad:

I really hope Sylar goes badass again and puts a beat down on all the people in Pinehearst.

HOLY CRAP,:eek::eek::eek: AWESOME EPISODE!!!:D:up:

I concur! Very awesome episode. Papa Petrelli is a bad ass. His powers are so interesting. He's like a cooler version of Rogue. :woot:

The Petrelli Dynasty is da bomb. Money, Super Powers, Hot Chicks. What more could you ask for?

I wanna be a petrelli when I grow up. :hehe:

You guys are jumping to conclusions on Sylar's story arc before it's even over, chill out.

I don't buy for one second that he'll be totally changed. A leopard can never change his spots. He'll realize he's just being used as a pawn on the twisted chess board that Angela and Arthur are playing on, and he'll flip his lid!

Yeah I'm thinking the same.

But Peter retains those powers permanently, so it makes sense that Arthur would be able to take them.
