Chapter 40 - “Dying of the Light” – Discussion Thread 10/20/08

are you still watching this show?

Let's see how this plays out:

I say yes..... you say, why do you watch something you hate.

I say no..... you say, then stop talking about it.

Seriously, this show was great through season one... guess it was a fluke. I 'faith' watched it through season two. Started watching this season... wrote it off two weeks ago because it is getting bad.

Watched this episode thinking that it would be better....

I wonder who peter was hugging in the painting near the end?

Daphne is hotness.

Ando-They all look the same

Hiro-That's racist:hehe:

Really enjoyed the episode. If Arthur gets the hunger, ****s going down!

yet, you are still here, complaining

there was this other show called Lost, watched the first season, as much as I was able to due to my schedule, was interested, then lost track of it, stopped liking it, and just stopped bothering

whenever I feel Heroes doesn't fulfill my expectations, I'll just stop watching and do something else monday evenings, but right now, I'm enjoying it, even with its apparent inconsistencies (which tend to iron themselves out, at least the way I see it), predictable bits (but the show throws enough curve balls to make up for that) and "plot holes" (I repeat, it's not a plot hole, it's just that you might have missed on a detail or just have no patience to wait and see it all fit together)

but then again, what do I know

Peter was hugging his father, which lead to him losing his powers.

Um... Niki is a horrible character... and the death seems more like Ali Larter walking up to the writers and saying, "Leonard Roberts is off the show."
I think Niki was an okay character, though at times they wrote her much too whiny.

And Niki's 'story' ended in season one during the finale. Where she got over Jessica and took her power as her own to save her son... don't try and defend ruining that ending and killing off DL for no reason at all.

That's where it should've ended, and the family should have been written off for a time. I've heard that they have certain writers work on exclusively with some of the characters on the show, and that's probably why the Hawkins-Sanders family storyline was mishandled. Even worse they could not even connect them to the main storyline till the end. Most of season 1 was just superfamily drama with cameos from the other Heroes. Niki, Micah, and DL ended taking a lot of heat from fans because their story was distracting and far less interesting than everything else that was going on.

But at least they're using Tracy better, even though she's repeating Niki's story arc.

i personally had no problem with the way that DL went out. i think it served its purpose emotionally for that set of characters

The point was to regress Niki as a character, at the expense of D.L.

i personally never felt the need to have nikki's story necessarily tie in with the rest. why does everyone have to be all involved in the company and etc? why cant we just have a group of people dealing with their powers on their own with their own troubles to handle separate from the main characters?

That may have been how the show started, but that was thrown out the window once characters started crossing paths with Sylar.

yea i guess thats true as well....just outta curiosity though has sylar ever encountered nikki?...i dont think they have met yet. although with tracy hanging nathan im sure its only a matter of time before she does.

Did you even watch season one?

Cause she did in the finale.

Niki randomly joined in his final fight with Peter(who she hadn't met either) in season 1.

as a matter of fact i have watched it and own it and i forgot about that part god forbid people forget something. so thanks for the reminder and fyi i meant in more of a closer one on one situation i really dont think sylar was paying her any mind during that what with peter almost exploding and hiro stabbing hin and all that. but again i appreciate the answer and the unnecessary condescending way in which you delivered it.

Would he have developed a split personality if he took her power? They could have done some interesting stuff with her and Sylar. Probably why they didn't do it...:hehe:

The split personality was just Niki's way of dealing with her power. The childhood abuse probably played a factor too.

I know it was a different timeline but future Sylar had Tracy's power... so maybe theyll meet soon.

He'd gotten the ice power prior to us seeing him in the first season. He used it to kill Molly's dad.

ah i remember lol. Thanks for reminding me.

It would be fun to see some more displaying powers.

When Arthur killed Adam... at first i thought his power was to turn people to ash lol.

DL did not even have time notice the gun...he was facing nikki and as soon as he turned around the guys shot him...its not like there was a few seconds for dl to notice the gun and then use his power

he had PLENTY of time to see the gun. He SAW the guy coming and considering he just kicked the guys ass he KNEW the guy wasn't coming over there to hug him. Knowing some form of harm was coming his way he shoould have been phased.

That was piss poor writing right there. If they wanted to kill him they should have let him die when Linderman shot him.

and people would still cry foul and say that the way he went out was stupid and that he should still be alive. he's dead no matter how it happened i've chosen to move on.

I disagree. He took the bullet to save his wife. That's a very honorable way to die. People probably would have cared less than they did after the second shooting, if anything.

He was shot near the chest.... and was bleeding for an hour before getting help. Him dying would have been a lot better than living to just die for a crap Gina story...
