Chapter 49 - "Trust and Blood" - Discussion Thread - 2/9/09

Okay, so I totally read the graphic novel wrong. The flying girl wasn't "Rebel", rebel just sent her a message to run beacuse their were a group of soliders waiting in the alley to attack her.

So my theory that it's Micah still lives!

Could be right. Direct TV's summary of next week's episode has "Claire tries to protect a young man with exceptional abilities."

Sounds like Micah to me.

I swear, if they just offed Daphne....

How could they kill her?! I loved Daphne! She was hot and her power rocked! How come cool characters like Daphne get killed off every couple episodes of a new volume, but people like Claire and whoever Ali's playing just stay and stay and stay and stay...

I'm just going to start not investing in cool characters anymore cuz they kill all the ones I adore.

Whatever happened to West anyway lol?

Yes, where is West?! So we're supposed to believe he just left his girlfriend for a year with no explanation with all this stuff going on? Who writes this show? :whatever:

I hate how they kill good characters before they get a chance to fully shine (daphne, Adam, Maury) or otherwise just offer no explanation for why they're not there.

Anyhow, this was a good episode. Hope they can keep it up. Though it still suffers from numerous flaws of bad writing.

Either they killed off Daphne and continued the trend of getting rid of any interesting new characters they have or they let her live and continue the trend of not having the balls to kill off regulars. Either way it sucks that they would even go down that road.

I maintain that they aren't going to kill off anyone of importance at the end of the season as is rumored just because the writers don't have the balls to. They'll kill off the most inconsequential season 1 character they can (Angela, which will make Nathan see the error of his ways), and then they'll probably do some stupid **** like kill Tracy and bring in yet another clone/triplet/whatever.

Then there is the whole Sylar plot. I am so bored with this character. Tehy should either leave him dead or at least side line him for more than ten minutes. His story line with the boy wonder just stinks of his season 2 story line with Maya in the sense that it is seperate from the main plot and will ultimately have little impact on the show (and probably have the kid he is with die). My prediction for the end of the season: Sylar is some how returned to his status quo of a brain eating monster and we are left with an ominious scene of him looking at the camera evilly.

Ugh. I'm glad West is gone...he made Tom Welling look like...well...still a block of wood...but a block of wood who was a slightly better actor than the other block of wood :cwink:

But didn't he break up with Claire at the end of season 2? So its not as if there was no closure.

I'd say the real question is where is Molly. I mean, everyone knew about this girl. She was the worst kept secret that The Company had. She could be crucial in hunting down people with powers. Yet no one (including her two foster parents, Mohinder and Parkman) seems to give a damn.

Ditto. I feel like they've lost their nerve since season 1. Claire, Peter, Nathan, everyone Ali plays, even matt all should have been killed off ages ago.

you're right about molly. They sent her "Where she would be safe" wherever that is...But West and claire never actually broke up he just kind of took his file and flew home. That's not a break up....thats an "I'll see you later" lol

Mohinder sent Molly to live with his family in India. Only him and Matt know where she is, I'm assuming.

Hiro and Ando are going to India in next weeks episode....

Nah, that's the new character Alex, played by Justin Baldoni, that Claire protects.

And Claire and West did have closure. Claire was threatening to out the company which included naming everyone with abilities. West didn't want her to do it because of course it would reveal his powers, so she gave him his file and they parted ways.

Well, I should think that by now West knows she didn't go through with it, besides don't you think she would have given him a call and said "Hey my dad isn't dead! Everything's cool again!" I mean, these are just logical common sense things that we don't do on this show. Telling your friend who saved your life that your pops isn't dead seems like the logical thing to do. I mean, its not like he was important to her or anything...oh wait she was sneaking around with him making out and playing Lois & Clark for the better part of a year.

Just cuz he took his file doesn't mean all communication ends. I mean, after all the horrible stuff her dads and grandma has done she still talks to them. I should think West who has never screwed her over would get some consideration.

But hey...this is heroes...meaningful relationships don't mean crap.

probably still in school, asking newbies if they're robots or aliens.

I think Claire has too much things going at the moment to think about rekindle her relationship with West. i guess she probably could text West and warn him about what is happening and tell him to be a robot. which would have little impact on the current storyline,

besides, the fan reaction towards West was mostly negative. So, Kring is not planning to bring him back.

this Volume is quite dumb. The writers was about to make a very dumb move with Adam's story, where he actually releases the virus and infects the world, just like what Peter saw in the future, but thank god for the writer's strike, that didn't happen.

But, we get something similar, with Nathan now equivalent to Adolf Hitler apparently. Nothing from the past shows why Nathan is doing this. That is why Heroes is going downhill. Loved the first season, it was fun to watch, but it just seems the writers dont' know what do.

LOST IS THE BEST ADULT, DRAMATIC, MATURE, WELL-STRUCTURED SHOW ON TV

I wonder if (if Molly really IS in India) if that's who Hiro will need to hook up with to find his sword and get his powers back so he can go back and save Daphne (hopefully)

Rebel was revealed in the graphic novel this week, it's some random girl that can fly. I hope there's more to it then that because that's just stupid.

LOL I guess Nathans power isn't so special any more that's two people who can fly now West and this girl. Out of all the characters Daphney shouldn't die, they should kill Claire 1. Her actor is horrible 2. Her character annoys the hell out of me. Whats good about her? All she can do is heal, thats nothing :cmad: Just shoot the girl in the head with a bullet, let Monica take her place as main girl character and be done. HRG Would be cooler if that happend any ways, no more I am just doing it for you speech, it'd be revenge baby.

this is a lot like civil war, with nathan as tony stark and HRG as reed or someone...after this volume where they bring back a clone or somebody to use to capture capes, look forward to a skrull invasion!! followed by sylar being placed in charge of the nation's defense by worf, errr obama

Pretty much. I'm ready for claire to get that long over due silver bullet to her noggin. You'd think with her ability she'd be the most bad ass character on the show, but all she does is whine and shoot people dirty looks.

The Least she could do is learn Taekwando or something. Carry Dual knives and kung fu some people to death. All she does is cry and its super annoying. I wish we could trade her for Adam.

At least he dressed smoothed and knew how to swing a sword. Kensei 4 LIFE! :applaud

oh and if they were going to have another flyer they should've just kept west at least then they'd have a relationship with claire that doesn't revolve around her cry baby whine. I'm soooooooooooooooooooo sick of hearing her "My two dads speeches" every other episode.

Much improved . While HRG's shifting motivations are still shakey IMO and the Sylar and Robin stuff I can do without , overall it was pretty good . Certainly better then the stuff we were given over the last two seasons.

I love how Nathan wants to protect Claire so much because he loves her, when he was never really a father figure towards her. What ever happened to Nathan's two sons and his wife? He just forgot about them. I know it's the writers fault but it's rediculous. At least bring closure to that situation. You know? >:P

I find it remarkable that there is absolutely no response from the media to two missiles being dropped on US soil.

Claire would be more interesting if she'd actually do something other than talk about doing something. If she'd going to be stuck at home playing at going to college, she should be shown spending her free time in some sort of self defense class. Hell, she should just go Bruce Wayne and start learning as much as possible.

Soooo true. She's constantly whining about being useless, which makes her even more useless...it's a vicious cycle.

And...couldn't Parkman just use his telepathy and mentally control all the dudes with guns from the very beginning? Just sayin'....maybe he hasn't mastered his power to that degree yet or something.

Also, I love how Claire just stands there taking bullets--what else can she do, really? Of course she was prolly looking to TAKE a few for the team, but ultimately, she needs a more active power to really be useful...or take martial arts and become bad*** like her dad.

Last night's was, by far, the best episode of the season yet. Without doubt. Mark Verheiden is a great addition to the writers room.

And, I have to admit, though I hated the idea when I first read spoilers for it, the Sylar and sidekick thing is actually alright...

I think this is precisely why he's now so protective of Claire. With his sons now out of his life (following his divorce; his wife probably won sole custody given his state at the time), he's now trying to make up for it by being extra protective of his one progeny still in his life.

If there's any parent-child relationship issue that is to be complained, it should be that of HRG and Lyle (you know, his actual child?).
