Chapter 43 - “It's Coming” – Discussion Thread 11/17/08

The Sylar thing is just bad all around. The only thing that's consistent with season 1 is that he wants to be accepted by a mother figure.

It's not that he wanted to just be accepted by a mother figure, it's that he just wanted to be more then what he was - simple watchmaker from a podunk family, he wanted to be special. He wanted to do things or get things that would make people treat or worship him the way he wanted.

Back in season one he even stated himself that when he was younger he always wished someone would come and tell him the family he was with wasn't his own and that he was apart of something bigger then that. Kinda ironic now.

It's wierd. This season I actually like Sylar being good. He's probably my favorite character, but I completley hate the idea of good Sylar. Totally random and out of character. But, like I said, it's wierd. Maybe Quinto's just likeable. Not so much in 24 season two though.:cwink:

I think the way he is going about being good is just as fanatical as the way he went about being bad. He's blindly leading parents he never knew, doing whatever they tell him, seeking forgivness for his past and trying to be the best, which is basically what he did when he was a killer.

Wow...I never thought of it that way. Nice catch:cwink:

I know. But that is partly because his mother always told him that he could do so much better. She expected more from him. Angela accepts him for who he his. At least that's what she told him.

Now that i think about it, what happened to Sylar's intuitive aptitude? They should explain that a little better. I like the idea of his power evolving i just don't understand how it evolved.

A wizard did it.

Or basically now it's just supposed to be Peter's power... or like if Peter's power and Sylar's power did it and made a power where you figure things out by feeling and then BAM new powers.

actually, in season two, Maury told Matt that powers first manifested in some form, like Matt's telepathy, Candice's illusions, etc. but that then they evolved into more, different things, another example of this would be when Noah coaches Ted into creating an EMP, Ted was not aware he could do that, it's just a variation of his power
in that same way, throughout the past several episodes, we've seen that Arthur, Peter and Gabriel share a power, but it manifested differently in each of them, Peter had to learn how to control his power mimicry, Gabriel figured out through his "intuitive aptitude" how to acquire powers and so on

just like Matt now displays abilities once shown by Eden and Candice, because they are related to in some way
just like the Haitian can not only nullify powers, but also take memories, these abilities are connected and as the subject learns to control them, they start manifesting

like it has been stated before, the reason Eden manifested persuasion and not telepathy and Candice illusions and not persuasion is more related to each individual's needs and or situations at the time their powers first manifest

Peter's first manifested power was the dreaming and look how that turned out

Which is a dumb s**t explanation of powers...

Peter's first manifested power was the dreaming and look how that turned out

Um... Peter's first manifested power was his MIMICRY. Which he used... to mimic his mother's dreaming power.

Don't mind him. He's just a cranky little man.

I liek the fact that some of the powers appear linked to the emotional hang ups of the characters.

The scenes with Sylar and Elle are amongst the best i've seen this season if not whole show so far.Their whole interaction was very well shot and acted imo.

On the other hand i cringed at the 10 year old Hiro stuff. Other than comic relief it really didn't add anything to the episode and i really hope they don't prelong this angle too long.:o
Was funny seeing the line up of the heroes and villains at the end. In a full on fight (which line ups always give the impression of), methinks the good guys would get their collective asses handed to them. They have a depowered, a telepath, a flier, a seer, a speedster, and wolverine without the training, claws or killing instinct. The bad guys have teke, fire, ice, strength, electricity, and invulnerability.

Yeah, the way things stand at the moment it seems to they have no chance againts Arthur's crew.Maybe if they got the Haitian, Hiro, Meredith, Micah (where the heck is he?) etc. in on the action they could beat them.

Micha's in New Orleans.
that scene where he met Tracey and is sitting at Nikki's casket was sad.
I say bring back Micah and Molly!

I read that Arthur Petrelli's powers are power absorbtion through touch (like Rogue) and once stolen, these abilties can't be returned, I also read that he gained TP from and unknown source... this info is from Wikipedia, though not the best source, it makes the most sense to me
