Chapter 43 - “It's Coming” – Discussion Thread 11/17/08

What doesn't make sense (and demonstrates sloppy plot lines) is if the hunger is all about obtaining powers, then why did it affect Peter the way it did just several episodes ago. Peter not only had a ton of powers, but he obtains them easily. He hunger should have easily been satisfied.

It's not for powers its for power, he killed his brother and tried to kill his mom because he wanted their knowledge.

It's not a hunger for powers, it's a hunger for knowledge. That person made a typo I hope.....lol

what i don't understand is how the hell is claire the "Catalyst" when she wasn't born when Tracy,Nikki,Barbara and Nathan were given their synthetic abilities?

I was thinking the same thing, then I was wondering if the catalyst is just someone with healing/immortal abilities, so if this is true then I think Adam was the original catalyst

my thoughts exactly

The show seems to be redeeming itself, I was getting a bit worried for a while. They definitely seem to being tying up some of the loose ends, though there's a few more I am curious about. I think the coming episodes may have some awesome battles between team Angela and team Arthur.

I do have to say that one scene with Elle frying Sylar was straight out of Watchmen.

Another good episode for me. I'm glad Peter finally spoke to Claire about the future. Jury's still out w/ me on Hiro. 10 yrs old? Comic book still ongoing when the dude that drew 'em has been dead for over a year????

Isaac could see the future you know

Lol at how you got contradicted:dry: I understand complaints and I have a lot of them as well...but please at least put effort into your complaints, contradictions, plot holes, explanations, etc. to put forth real questions/discussion.

As you wish, how about the fact that Sylar in season 1 showed a lack of remorse before cutting people's head of, hell he even droped one liners just before he did it. Dont tell me the hunger also comes with psychotic humour? Second in a future shown from part 1 Claire was killed by Sylar and now we are supposed to believe she has this thing inside of her, its a shame Sylar didnt notice it before. Then we have the whole Empathy combats the hunger now this is the WTF moment, really empathy combats the hunger? So how is it Mr empathy Peter was completly consumed by the hunger. Also Claude stoping Flint orly? Didnt Claude leave the company a few years ago its preety much endless but I am sure your clued on now.:yay:

You put forth a lot of ASSUMPTIONS, not grounded facts.

Sylar was an angry man in S1. We now know he almost killed himself because he had killed the man and taken his TK. Elle then saved him and he fell for her. It turned out she was lying and using him. Between her and his mother yammering about being special, he snapped and took out that anger by killing and taking powers, etc. And he WAS remorseful in S1. Remember when he killed his mom? When he saw that he would possibly be the cause of the deaths of all the innocents in Isaacs painting?

Next, it never said he killed Claire. We see him behind her using his power to cut her head open then the scene cut. It never says she is dead to my knowledge, just that he took her power when he was posing as Nathan.

As for Empathy combatting the hunger...did the show say that in the last episode? I don't recall him saying that. I recall Arthur saying Sylar could use empathy to access others powers without cutting their heads open. It doesn't say he will no longer hunger.

The show also doesn't say Claude is the one who took down Flint. He said an invisible man. First, there may be more people with invisibility. We have multiple precogs, multiple healers, multiple mimics and multiple speedsters. Why not multiple invisible people? Second, even after leaving the company it is possible Claude could be persuaded to do a freelance job for them. Others have.

That's my belief as well.

That would make sense, as to why they kept him alive in that Cell. Because if they killed him (beheaded) they couldn't use him as a Catalyst. Now, since Claire abilities are known, they didn't need him anymore, so Arthur just killed him.

To be honest I still don't get why Adam withered away once his healing powers were taken away... Considering that basically 'reverted' him to what he would have been had he not have been a healer....

Why didn't Peter get various scars and deformities considering how many times his healing has saved him?

Perhaps Arthur's power is not simply limited to stealing powers. It is possible that he is capable of stealing life form people (think Selene) in addition to just powers, but has only used it on Adam to this point.

I'm not saying thats what it is, just a possible theory.

So, was this episode further confirmation of Angela's ability to influence or control people?
She seemed to force Arthur into releasing her but I couldn't tell if it was just her forcing him with her words rather than a power, but it has been refferenced before, think about when she made Nathan's wife do her bidding. Hmmmmm.

Considering Arthur's base power seems to be advanced telepathy, I want to know how he's able to absorb other powers in the first place.

After Arthur took Peter's powers...he said his body was still in shock at the abrupt change. My guess is that Adam's body, after continuing to heal, keeping him young, went into shock and it instantly stopped regenerating cells and it killed him because his body was physiologically 400 years old.

Isaac could see the future you know

But this future isn't the same one he was foreseeing. I think it was previously established that the future they see is the one the present is currently on the path toward. They'll notice whenever the future is changed by any intervention but they can't see the new future before that.

Arthur's base power I would say is stealing other's powers like Sylar and like Peter. Where he got his telepathy is a good question that we may get an answer to. Maybe a dead board member? Maybe Arthur is really and truly a power hungry maniac and is no better than Sylar???

Who's to say he didn't get it from Maury? Maury was one of the original 12 right?

He just straight up murdered Maury and had the power at the beginning of this season when he was paralyzed in bed so he had the power alongside Maury.

maybe maury was using his own telepathy to talk to arthur and not the other way round
