Chapter 59 - "An Invisible Thread" Discussion Thread - 4/27/09

Also if Sylar want's to be President so damn bad why doesn't he just shape shift into the current President & go from there ? He would get things done alot quicker. He has no grudge against Peter or anything to specifically want to be Nathan
I think that's his plan. He needs to touch the president though, since the shapeshifting power is DNA-based. So he will masquerade as Nathan until he can meet with the president.

That's the gist I got when Nathan/Sylar was on TV saying when "nothing would be the same after the prez shook his hand."

I don't know, I mean they have gone the most ovbious direction before like with Rebel/Miacha people saw that coming miles away and they did it. I see Nathan dying but they haven't said any thing or shown any thing of Matt putting Nathan inside Sylar, maybe that's the shocking thing...Or maybe they think fans are stupid to where they wouldn't at all suspect that Nathan dies :oldrazz:

It's been shown before that the writers make no assumptions to the relative intelligence of the audience of this show. Or at the very least, expect to have to dumb things down for the sake of watchability.

Unfortunately, based on Angela's scream and Sylar's "Claire is going to be so mad at me," comment, I'm guessing neither will die and instead it will be Nathan...the character who has had the best development this season and easily the most potential to grow as a character right now.

Knowing how this show works, none of that will be right.

Sylar will slice Peter's face, but not kill him. That perfectly explains Angela's reaction and what Sylar says. Then they'll kill Danko. Because as they've alluded to, and by their standards, Danko is someone we've come to know well.

You heard it here first.

My prediction: It is going to look like Nathan will be killed, but it will truly be Noah Bennet. Sylar will then shapeshift into Bennet, but, either by the actions of Matt or by us finally getting what Noah stated in season 1 (with Sylar taking in too many powers/DNA), Sylar will be rendered powerless and trapped as Noah Bennet.

I suppose they could do this for Nathan too, but I am just getting the vibe that it will be Noah that bites it, which Sylar taking his place.

This would set up Redemption, with Sylar as Noah trying to figure out his place now as a simple human.

ok, heres my theory. Sylar will kill either Peter or Nathan, my head says Nathan, but my gut says Peter. Matt will then brainwash Sylar, turning him into whichever brother he kills. But Sylar will still be there on the inside. That will be the way they kill someone but no one has to leave the show.

I read somewhere that next season there would be a series of mysterious deaths. I think this would be Sylar coming out to strike. Kinda like Jekyll and Hyde. And the Petrelli who has to share the body with Sylar will have to try and redeem himself for the murders he couldnt prevent.

I really dont like the idea of 2 people sharing a body. I really dont see a way to fix it other than destroy a personality or have Sylar kill someone with a multiple man ability, so they both can have a body.

If they are gonna kill someone just kill them, dont have a backdoor to let them stay...(cough Tracy cough). I dont know, maybe I'm way off, we will just have to wait until tomorrow night to find out.

The more that I think about it, the more sure I am that I will be disappointed.

What really scares me is that the next volume is called "Redemption," which suggests that one of these characters who has done a great deal of evil, and can only be redeemed by sacrificing their life for someone, will live on to be 'redeemed.' Again. Not only that, but they'll be the focus. Ugh.

I really was hoping the last 2 episodes would be on par with 'Shades of Gray,' 'Cold Snap,' 'Into Asylum,' and 'Turn and Face the Strange'...and while I Am Sylar was good too, I couldn't get as into that one because '1961' TOTALLY killed the momentum they had going.
Way to go, guys. 4 AMAZING episodes in a row. Then a ridiculously stupid flashback episode that almost made me not care about what happens now after I've been watching this whole season as it airs...:(

Anyway what I was going to say was, my hopes have been slightly dashed in terms of finally getting a worthy season/volume finale. I figured it was about time they had one, and that this volume was doing well so far...especially, like I said, since 'Shades of Gray,' but now...:(. I blame '1961' for ruining the momentum...

Is it me...or does Dienko just need to die already...

Claire: "My dad manahges to put himself in the middle of everything"

Funny Claire bc I think the same applies to you

Hmm...why isn't any of the political staff raising eyebrows at Nathan introducing Claire as his daughter?

I would have.

I wonder how Sylar got Claire to shut up for that last scene. She was trying superhard to keep her mouth shut
