Chris Hemsworth is Thor

I don't really know how much muscle gain is realistic for Hemsworth by the time they start filming, but as far as I'm concerned, the bigger he can get, the better.

lets not leave room for errors here...

THOR should be ripped and huge!!! He is the muscle of the avengers and a frickin god!!!

Here me out, i and many others should be disappointed if Chris doesn't get to Hugh Jackmans size or bigger.

In the next 3 yrs we will get a Hercules movie, a Conan Move and maybe a He-Man movie. (we dont want our thor being the smallest of these characters on screen in the future.. right?)

Lets have our thor at least look like he hit the 300 diet plus 10lbs. I dont think im asking for too much eh?

300lbs isn't that easy to do lol

^^^I think he meant the exercise regime the actors did to get in shape the for movie 300.

ala 300

Well, short of steroids. I wouldn't want Hemsworth to sacrifice his health for the role.

He does it in the comics too, you know. Fafnir ate his hair once and it never grew back. True story.

Imagine if Chris juiced to get big for the role and lost his hair as a result. A balding Thor = :( lol

Prior to fatherhood 10 years ago I was an avid bodybuilder. At the time I worked as the head of security of Southern Nevada largest night club.
Running in those circles I was tempted to use anabolic steroids. Before I made that choice I researched the hell out of them. I talked to a few doctors, medical staff at UNLV, fellow bodybuilders and read everything I could get my hands on. If the legal definition of an expert is anyone who read 7 books on a single subject I passed that 10 fold.

The conclusion I came to is steroids are not dangerous when used responsibly. Like anything when they are abused they can really mess you up. This is especially true of a hormone regiment.

In the end I never did them because they are really freakin expensive and I could never bring myself to put a needle in my body and orals are baaaad for your liver. Thank god I am not diabetic. ;)

Male pattern baldness only happens in people who are genetically predetermined to go bald in the first place. The use of certain hormones can only accelerate, not cause it.
Anyhoo

There is some seriously bad information out there about steroids, and I don’t want to derail a perfectly good thread on a juicing debate. Just adding some relevant nuggets that were spurred on by a smart azz post that I made.

I'm currently researching them for my own bodybuilding purposes. Lots of misinformation out there for sure

How the hell is he supposed to magically grow his hair to his shoulders within a few months? I'm pretty sure there'll be a wig. As for build? Ehh just stick to the current comics costume and they can make him look big. There are sleves. We don;t need a sleeveless Thor. And they do have prosthetics. Look at The Comedian in Watchmen.

My hair can grow to my shoulders in four or five months. Depending on how long it was initially (since he's been shown with almost-shoulder-length hair in lots of pictures), he might be able to use his natural hair. But you're probably right; I see wig in his future.

I think the size hemsworth is currently is fine, also thors current costume is quite bulky. the obscession with bulk is neither here nor there to me, all I care about is the performance.

1. performance
2. costume (including hammer)
3. location
4. supporting cast

17. thor's physique

For a character like Thor, his physique represents a part of his costume to a lot of people. I personally wouldn't mind if Hemsworth didn't put on too much weight, but I can understand where the desire to see him be massive comes from. Thor represents physical power as much as the storms to some degree. He's a very visceral sort of god, which conjures images of ripped, veiny biceps and crushed faces and gore and such.

Thank you. He will be in shape. The guy's HUGE to begin with. He understands the magnitude of this role and he'll arrive in excellent condition.

I think too many of you watch too much WWE and believe that humans are supposed to look that way. When we set unrealistic goals that's how dangerous behaviors develop, like steroids and HGH.

Well, I wouldnt exactly say that he's HUGE per se, and for me, it's not just a WWE thing either (cant stand it personally) - fans just want the live action version of their favourite characters to be as bang-on visually as they can be.

You may as well aportion some of the blame about fans size expectancy on the comic book artists who over the years who have drawn these characters with builds only seen this side of a body-builder or wrestler.

You're right though - no-one should be laying unfair expectations on the guy, but I would expect him to get in good shape for the role. I mean, I've just posted a picture of Chris Carmack in the Captain America casting thread;

Now that is an acheivable (and acceptable) build that I think would be awesome if Hemsworth was able to get close to (or maybe even bigger) as opposed to the unrealistic 'Mr Olympia' size that some unfairly expect him to attain.

on the note of how bulky thor should be, i'd say the actors current build seems good to me. I don't really understand the need for super heroes in live action movies to all have huge body builder muscles. to me it seems unrealistic. superheroes need muscles for sure, but i prefer the guys playing them to be lean. Sure it could be argued that since thor is a god he should be huge, but he's supposed to be disguised as a human in this movie, so if he was like the t1 terminator the whole time (as far as muscles go) he wouldn't really blend in. but that's just my take on things.
