hmm, dark red seems cool.. but if this is indeed the last nolan-verse batman, shouldnt the tone be a more defining color? cause red doesn't really symbolize rising to redemption. Im a little iffy on green imho. Just saw Batman Forever and near the end where they go to riddlers island, i just dont think it can be pulled off properly with that color... i also like the idea of bringing back orange/sepia and throwing in a mix of dark blue.

RED isn't a defining color? What?

cause red doesn't really symbolize rising to redemption.
We don't even know the next film's theme, so it's a bit early to definitely pronounce one.

Matrix pulled it off fine. The saturation just has to be kept in check, as with all colors. Hell, it was used right in TDK. The interrogation scene was a green tint.

At first glance, I'm not a big fan of the green - just a little too obvious if the Riddler is involved. Dark Red would be more of a return to BB...sorta like coming back to an old friend who has changed a lot. It'd also serve as a much better counterpart to TDK than green and would be more explosive and threatening (IMO).
The only way that I could really appreciate the green is if greed were a large focus in the next film. It'd make thematic sense in that case.

I actually like the idea of white....but my vote as of now goes to dark red.

Red would make me think of the DCU's alternative universe, where Batman is a vampire.

It's not that uncommon:

Red looks fantastic with the character.

I was thinking about this very question of color tone this past week. I think I would like something warmer but I'm not sure. I'm sort of working on a mock poster now and I really don't know which to direction to go. Maybe an orange-ish yellow.

i think red most definately thought they did do red for batman and robin so... lol

I was thinking. Snow White could be very interesting to watch, changes definitively the tone of the movie.

Is there a fundamental difference between "white" and "snow white"? If not, why is snow being added?

You are a nitpicker don´t you? :) Well I thought when it was first mentioned Snow White I figured the theme could be winter. Like in the other thread. But now that you put it, there are shades of white. Sadly, no "Snow White" White.

I first affixed "snow" to "white" in an attempt to infer that the inclusion of the former could help proliferate the latter throughout the movie's palette, without saying as much.

The Jim Lee drawing above has been recoloured from its original blue-ish hue to a redder shade. The red backdrops are superficial in the other images. I didn't say that red was never used in Batman comics- especially on covers, where is carries a lot of visual clout, anyway.

I just think that red is a bit visually heavy-handed. It always symbolises heat, anger, danger and passion. Everyone knows that. I think the coldness and starkness of white hues against shadows would offer a cleaner, less intrusive look to the film- and a canvass upon which the themes could be drawn.

The use of color in covers and splash pages are almost always superficial. I was just illustrating how a slightly red tinge would look on Batman himself.

Well yes. That's kinda why it would be fitting for a sequel, if certain themes from TDK are expounded upon.

Also another reason why I think red would be suitable. Dirty and intrusive is precisely the feeling I want. :o

Snow white.

i prefer apple computer white :oldrazz:

jk

i prefer a dark red hue because when the dawn is red, it means that blood was shed the night before (Rachel and Harvey) so it would be a great representation of the new film (dawn) and as a continuation of the last film (blood shed)

or at least thats what they said in LOTR

ilike red or a muted yellow not to muted just a tiny bit, to represent the dawn.

I was watching this thread when i made this:

I don't see how the colouration of previous film's marketing has been related to the film's theme... murky amber for Batman Begins... because Amber makes you think of fear? and blue for Dark Knight COULD be regarded as a visual attempt to connotate a Michael Mann film, but it's not as if we could have sat down before hand and said - right, there should be a blue marketing angle - because blue is cold and gives the film a clear, clean look which realtes to the themes becaaaausseee.....They'll choose a colour for whatever looks cool. Simple as that.

I vote black. Bring Bats back to his comic origins. Grey wouldn't be bad though.

I would say go back to BB's tone. Finish were it started. Also it would work with the dawn theme.

But red has a mood and connotation of its own, to a much greater degree than blue or brown. That is why I say it would be "intrusive" to the themes of the movie.
