Commissioner Gordon Casting Thread

This is what i would do if Cranston was cast as Lex. Because, if somebody like Joaquin Phoenix got that role, i would just cast Cranston for Gordon.

I would get Kurt Russell to play Gordon in the solo films. And tie the Fox "Gotham" tv series to the franchise, as a prequel, when Gordon was in his 30s. He would be played by Kyle Chandler who i saw recently in Wolf Of Wall Street, trying to take down Dicaprio's character. He even sort of looks like a younger Russell sometimes.

What does everyone think of the multiple rumors that commissioner Gordon is dead/retired in this new universe?

I recall even seeing Zack Snyder mention in the empire magazine that he envisioned the bat signal to be apart of the "commissioner Gordon era", when he mentioned it.

Do you guys think they going to take the Dark Knight returns route and make Ellen Yindel the new commissioner?

Yes! I would like to see Russell as Gordon in these upcoming Bat films....but sadly, it looks like Gordon is going to be dead in this series. Would have nice to see Russell as Gordon actually pull his gun and shoot it as opposed to Oldman always getting ready to shoot but never once actually shot his firearm in the TDKT.

Might be a controversial opinion, but my favorite Gordon so far is Ben McKenzie's. I was surprised by how good the season 2 premiere was.

he's the most un-gordon like gordon ever, though. too damn corrupt. the whole point of gordon's character is that he's pretty much the only cop in gotham who isn't corrupt. sure, in the show, he feels ****** about the shadey **** he's had to do before, but still...


he also needs le stache/glasses. i refuse to consider him as the james gordon we know and love till we see dat damn mustache/glasses combo.

He sucks in the role. He doesn't feel like Gordon at all, doesn't look like him one bit. Not that good of an actor either.

He feels like a young John Blake type cop that is starting out in Gotham. When i was watching the show in the first half of season 1, i felt like the real Gordon was going to walk into a room at some point. Not a good sign.

But ill watch the season 2 premier. I couldnt make it past episode 5 last season, so maybe he stepped up his game, Cobblepot is hopefully where he needs to be and Fish whatever is hopefully dead.

My picks for Gordon would be Jeff Bridges, Tom Hanks, or J.K. Simmons.

Also I like you Rorschach, but there's no way McKenzie is better than Gary Oldman (whoever gets cast as the character in the movies has a tough act to follow).
