jeez. That's like trading up one prima Donna for another prima Donna

Murray probably wouldn't do an episode unless he got script approval and top billing

I still can't believe he'd do 2 Garfield films and won't do Ghostbusters 3...

...unless Wes Anderson directed it.

Yeah, Murray is as big of a prick, if not bigger than Chase.

Voiceover work is like free money for an actor. You go to work dressed like a bum, record your lines, and leave. And get the same paycheque you'd normally get from having to be on set for the live action parts.

I don't want Bill Murray on the show unless he's playing William "The Barely Known" Winger.

But...but...he's actually funny! :o :oldrazz:

If he only was on for one episode it would be funny.

In terms of pure comedy, Chase is funnier than Murray. In terms of acting, Murray is the better actor than Chase. Chase isn't much of an actor. He is a comedian who acts his comedy. Murray on the other hand isn't much of a comedian, he is an actor who can read funny lines.

Chase is kind of like Will Ferrell. He is a comedian who got into acting but isn't very talented as an actor. You'll never see him win Academy Awards or succeed in a dramatic role that breaks heavily from his established act.

Meanwhile, Murray is kind of like Ryan Reynolds. He isn't really a comedian. He is an actor who kind of fell into comedic roles early on but is capable of doing more. Yes, he worked on Second City, but he kind of fell into that due to his relationship with the Belushis. He has never been much of a pure comedian

So yeah, Chase is Will Ferrell, Murray is Ryan Reynolds. One is a comedian, one is an actor.

harmon wanted Fletch, instead he got Chevy.

Just gonna' have to disagree with all of that. Never seen either man do stand up but Bill Murray was funnier on SNL from the clips I've seen and much funnier in all his films. Chevy latches onto Fletch to this day (that and Caddyshack which Murray stole from him) where he plays the smartass. Bill Murray plays the smartass much better and more memorably in Stripes, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Scrooged, etc. In short, he's funnier. The rest of Chase's career anyone remembers can be condensed to falling down in a bad Ford wig and playing the straight man to Randy Quaid.

I feel like you're both dissing Will Ferrell (who has a lot more range than Chevy in that he can play broad and subtle comedy and do drama too, not to mention Broadway) by saying he's like Chevy and dissing Murray to say he's like Reynolds.

Just a differing of opinions.

I think simplifying guy who can go between Ghosbusters and Groundhog Day to Lost in Translation and The Life Aquatic to the lead in Van Wilder and Green Lantern does not work. I like Reynolds, but he doesn't have the presence of Murray and other than Buried, I haven't seen him leave his comfort zone much.

I guess it's that Bill Murray defined comedy in the late-1970s, 1980s and 1990s. I haven't seen Reynolds do anything that iconic at this point.

Fun Fact: When Dan Harmon was casting Jeff, he told his casting people that "I'm looking for Bill Murray 1983" and they gave him Joel McHale on that description.

Chevy Chase is hilarious in Fletch and the Vacation movies. But yeah, Bill Murray has the much better track record and the more iconic roles.

I'm sure being a comedian in the 1970s in NYC Chevy's dealt with and done worse stuff than this, so I'm sure it will be a non-issue between the two of them after a week or two.

It's Chevy Chase. Just give him an 8-ball of cocaine and he'll be fine.

Joel mentioned the feud on The Soup.

"Let me put a stop to this rumor right now: There is no way Chevy knows how to work voicemail."
*Does a dance*
"We dealt with it!"

I'm just astounded there a people who think Bill Murray is inferior to Chevy chase in comedy. He excels him. When I go drunk with power in the future, these people will be purged from society, alongside those who like bing Bang theory better than Arrested Development, and Capricorns.

I feel Arrested Development is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time and Big bang theory is inferior to it in every conceivable way. I'm also Capricorn. What do you do?

Nah...just have them compete in the Hunger Games.

And air it on NBC.

Pierce, Pierce, Pierce.....Pierce you're a B.

I'm just now catching up on the last couple of weeks of Community, and the Dean seeing Jeff in aviators was ****ing hilarious! :funny:
