Confession is good for the Hype. - Part 10

That show is disgusting.

I don't know how absent from reality those "mothers" (a term I use extraordinarily loosely, as they act like parasitic showbiz managers) have to be to willingly appear on this show and think it portrays them remotely flatteringly to anyone with a sliver of decency.
Couldn't agree more.

How can anybody exploit their children, and in such a way? Then what's that going to do to those kids when they're older? It's corrupting abuse.

I'm a gay atheist and currently managing the events pages for not one, but two Catholic churches.

I find this amusing.

Ha! most EXCELLENT!
I confess I am a Surrealist!( if i confess anymore i think that would be too much info for here!) but this sort of life irony is what I live for!

The only regret I have is that I was unable to see the King Tut Exhibit when it was close to my area. Hopefully one day it will roll through the United States again, or I can rake up the cash to see it in Egypt (if it is safe to travel over there.)

:awesome::palps: do they know?!

Nope.

They're just two of various clients my roommate (who is a gay Catholic) and I do webhosting services for, it's not like I'm going to screw with them or anything, I just find the irony entertaining.

I confess that the fact that I can't drive yet makes me feel really insecure.

I'm 20 and still don't know how to drive. Then again, I live in the NYC area so I never really had to learn. I'm still trying to learn though.

Honestly, you don't REALLY need to if you don't want to. It's far more common these days. Especially if you live in a big city.

Plus, there's some fairly hot chicks riding the bus.

Pah! Tonnes of 17 years olds don't know how to drive. I wouldn't fret too much.

How do you swing by the high schools to pick up freshmen?

Get a friend who can drive, sit in the back seat, and act like he's your driver.

The area I'm in is more rural than urban. There is a public transportation system I could use to get around if I really wanted to, but to my knowledge, not too many people my age really uses it.

It wouldn't bother me so much if a lot of my closest friends couldn't drive. I feel like I'm a burden on them because they have to come pick me up whenever we make plans. It also inconveniences my mother a little bit, because she has to come pick me up everyday after I'm done with my after-school activities (I'm usually done by 6:00 PM).

My friends don't mind picking me up all the time, but still. I'm not as sympathetic towards my mother, though, since she hasn't made any effort to help me get my Permit, even though I've asked her several times.

Don't you know some other adult who can get you a permit?

It has to be her. Her boyfriend took me to go take the test a few months ago. They wouldn't let me because his name isn't on my birth certificate and there isn't any legal documentation that acknowledges him as my legal guardian.

Don't even remember my parents having to sign anything for my permit....but I guess wait til you're 18 and do it yourself. I'm sure at 18 you don't need a guardian.

You could just wait a year. Then you wont need anybody....I'm assuming.

You need a parent to get your permit? Those are some peculiar rules, aren't they? Or is that pretty common? In New Zealand (where I grew up) once you turn 16 you're allowed to go apply for your learner's permit all by yourself.

That's correct. I turn 18 on April 3. However, you have to have your permit for 9 months before you're eligible to receive your license. If I waited until my birthday, I wouldn't be driving until 2014. Logically, I know that waiting another month doesn't make too much of a difference, considering how long I've been waiting, but I want to get my license ASAP.

Unfortunately.

I envy you.
