Beast Vs Skullfire
Okay, so I thought that this would be difficult to win, and it will be, but it can be done. I also want to comment on how it pains me... as Skullfire has always been one of my favorate characters... but alas, he must fall.
Beast won't know anything about Skullfire, though in the 2099 universe there seems to be basic info out there of the original X-Men, so Skullfire will probably know enough about Beast to be beneficial to him. However, I really don't see how that will help him, as he can't really prepare. He'll just know that Beast is intelligent and bouncy with enhanced strength.
Like I said, Beast will know nothing of Skullfire, but he will at least have a picture of him and see that he's energy. That's enough for Beast to go off of and he has 24 hours to prepare, more than enough time. If Tim is pure energy, the first notion is that Beast can't touch him, but he's handled energy characters before and done just fine. In the "Kings of Pain" annual crossovers back around '92 or so, he went up against Proteus in his energy form with some constructed metal gloves. In Phoenix Endsong we see that he built a containment unit for the energy form of Kid Omega, and later in the series he builds a containment unit to hold the Phoenix! And therein lies his salvation!
Beast will see that his foe is energy, and being that the level of power the energy beings he's faced in the past are (Proteus, Kid Omega, Phoenix) he'll know it best to prepare for the worst (not realizing that Skullfire isn't necessarilly even in their league). He's already built machines to effect energy characters and he already has the blueprints for the machine that was to contain the Phoenix, so he doesn't even have to think about how to make it. All he has to do is figure out how to make it smaller. Once he does that then he's set.
The battle begins and we're in the Negative Zone. I don't think anything there will really be beneficial to either person (if there's no tech, then it sucks for Skullfire, but I'll have to check on that). The match will begin and Beast will know to find a place to hide as he sets up whatever he has brought with him (I figure he'll make something large, but small enough to carry into the battle. I'm thinking something like the Ghostbusters trap thingy). He'll set it up and Skullfire will be out searching for him. Skullfire is a brash man so he won't exactly be planning any major strategies. Whether he spots Beast first, or Beast spots him, I figure it'll be the same. He'll be firing away at him (perhaps being respectful out of respect to one of the legends, maybe not) and Beast will be Beast-like and dodging the blasts, leading him to the trap.
When the time is right he'll trigger the containment unit and it will suck Skullfire right into it. If he can create something to hold the Phoenix (albeit for a short time, remember though, Tim is no Phoenix), he can create something to hold Skullfire. Once he's contained he incapacitated and Beast gets the win.
The power of Preptime and experience in the right hands can fell Gods, and Skullfire is just a wittle glowing mutant.
Winner - Beast
