Based on Donut's info, I wonder who the new characters will be and what role they will play. Will they be normal humans? The show is in need of more of them.
Speaking of new normal humans, I wonder if we'll see her again and what her point was on the show.
i'm guessing the new characters will probably be college students.
are you talking about april in your last sentence because she was kind of pointless? the only important thing she did was reviving rebekah.
Question: What’s in store for Jeremy next season on The Vampire Diaries, now that he’s back among the living? —Chloe
Ausiello: As EP Julie Plec notes, “Nobody knows the truth” about his resurrection — specifically, that Bonnie essentially sacrificed her life for his. As a result, “There’s going to be some explaining to do and it’s not necessarily going to make his return to his old life very easy.”
Question: Will Claire Holt (Rebekah) appear in any Vampire Diaries episodes next fall? Or is she going straight to The Originals? —Justine
Ausiello: “We do have the ability to use Rebekah on either show in the beginning,” says Plec. ” We will see when we start writing how much of her we’ll see before she heads off to New Orleans.” One scenario has the new season of TVD picking up at the tail end of Rebekah and Matt’s European vacation. “When we get back, we might see [them] still on their trip,” shares Plec, adding, “When Matt gets back to Mystic Falls, his whole world will have changed. I can’t wait to see what comes out of that adventure and how he re-adapts to life at Mystic Grill.”

Vampire Diaries Scoop: Russian Beauty Joins Season 5 as the Mysterious Nadia
Move over Katherine, there’s a new badass beauty coming to The Vampire Diaries.
Russian model-turned-actress Olga Fonda is joining the Season 5 cast as the fearless, worldly, guarded and vengeance-seeking Nadia, TVLine has learned.
The character, who will be introduced in the Oct. 10 premiere, “will ally herself with anybody — and employ any tactic — to further her own mysterious agenda,” read the initial casting breakdown. “An emotional chameleon, she can flip from stone-cold to flirtatious as it suits her needs. But the loneliness of her singular quest has taken its toll on her humanity, and she finds herself increasingly lost when it comes to genuine human connection.”
Fonda had a supporting role in 2011′s Real Steel. She also had bit parts on Nikita and How I Met Your Mother.
Luna lives.Vampire Diaries Exclusive: True Blood's Janina Gavankar Relocates to Mystic Falls
BY VLADA GELMAN
Janina Gavankar is trading one blood-sucking drama for another.
The ex-True Blood shape-shifter has booked a potentially recurring gig on Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Gavankar will play Tessa, a beautiful, exotic and self-assured woman who comes to Mystic Falls to rekindle an old flame.
She first appears in the CW series’ third episode, which is also a flashback hour, as executive producer Caroline Dries recently revealed to TVLine. Could Tessa have some serious history with a resident vamp?
Gavankar’s True Blood character met her demise in the Season 6 premiere. Her other TV credits include Arrow, The League and The Gates.
The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8/7c.
After watching some of the Jeremy/Matt and Jeremy/Tyler scenes from the past four seasons, I'm honestly shocked that not one of the three characters has come out of the closet at any point in the series. The scene back in season one with Tyler punching Jeremy on the full moon seems parallel to a closeted kid lashing out, and Matt crying in the car when Jeremy died seems like it would've caused the casual viewer to ask "Wait, were they together?"
It's called Ho Yay. Kind of like Kirk and Spock.
