With the F6 model it should outgross the unadjusted domestic gross for Last stand and
could hit 700 Million worldwide.

How did you get that? If it keeps following FF6 it will finish well below TLS.

Edit: Not well below, but below.

“Maleficent” will need all its magic to fend off “X-Men: Days of Future Past” at the box office this weekend.

The Walt Disney Studios epic debuts on nearly 4,000 screens domestically and boasts the star power of Angelina Jolie as the evil sorceress of “Sleeping Beauty” notoriety. It is currently the top-selling film on Fandango, cornering more than 80% of weekend pre-sales.

The online ticketer reports that the picture is outpacing the similarly themed “Snow White & the Huntsman.” That picture enjoyed a $56.2 million opening in 2012. “Maleficent” is expected to put up similar numbers, topping $60 million over the weekend.

If “Maleficent” wants to hit that target, it will need to lure audiences away from the latest X-Men adventure. The mutant sequel has been buoyed by strong word-of-mouth and positive reviews, debuting to $90.8 million last weekend.

“X-Men:Days of Future Past” appears to be going strong into its second week of release. MovieTickets.com reports that the film currently accounts for 22% of all tickets sold in the last 24 hours. That’s just behind “Maleficent,” which maintains a slim lead with 32% of tickets sold in the last day.

At Fandango, “X-Men: Days of Future Past” is the second strongest-seller, while the weekend’s other major new release, “A Million Ways to Die in the West” is the third most popular title.

Well that's pretty awesome.

I'm guessing Maleficent will probably win...but if we have a kickass second weekend, I will be very happy.

Seeing it again tonight. :woot:

Yea but FF6 opened a bit higher than DOFP and is still trailing by about $7-8M. So if it continues to follow that path then it will finish below TLS.

It's been acting like F6 for the last few days, but it didn't start of as high. F6 had a bigger opening 4 day weekend, that gives F6 the current lead.

I still have friends who need to see it, so I know I'll be going at least two more times.

It's still the first "week" and the "week" hasn't even ended in some countries.

Current predictions I've seen put this at 310M to 325M overseas by Sunday.
If that holds, we'll be 5th highest X-Men domestically after this weekend, and 1st highest internationally AND worldwide.

It opened a bit lower than F&F6, but on it's third day DOFP already started outpacing it with lower percentage declines everyday so far. It could end close or even higher, but yeah too early to call.

I did my part and watched again last night! Sounds impossible, but the movie gets even better upon repeat viewings!!!

My sister hasn't seen it yet either. Although I think I might have spoiled one of the cameos for her by accident. My nephew was asking what X-Men were in the movie...

Did you see Magneto?
Yep.
Beast?
Yep.
Mystique?
Yep.
Wolverine?
Yep.
Cyclops?
Ye....you'll see.

My sister gave me a look, so I think I'm in trouble with her on that one. Oops.

I hope you put yourself on probation for spoilers Danoyse, you know the rules:hehe:

I think that summer is getting too crowded, and it's about time Fox starts considering the release of Apocalypse in, say, November or December. I don't know, it's just sad when great films don't have space to breath because it's such a crazy studios' competition all around.

And speaking from a country that doesn't have the same number of screens like the US, it's tragic. I saw DOFP last week in the biggest cinema screen in my city and it was completely crowded, I guess a lot of people had to return home without seeing the film. But this week the biggest screen belongs to Maleficent, and DOFP is relegated to a smaller one. And not only Maleficent, there's the Tom Cruise film opening too. I could see DOFP sustaining at least three more weeks at the biggest screen, but unfortunately the new releases get the better places. :(

Some time ago I found it best to tell a white lie. I don't care if the person gets pissed because I lied to their face, it was for the greater good. :woot:

One of my friends is a spoiler ****e and if I've seen a movie before him, he starts asking a ridiculous amount of questions. When I took him to see The Dark Knight Rises, he asks if Bane breaks Batman's back...I told him no with a fake look of disappointment on my face and in my voice. :funny:

I don't see the appeal of Maleficent. Tired story with a tired vibe. Let's go DOFP!

My only guess is because of all the CG action and sets, grabbing people's attention. *shrugs*

To be honest, I don't see what else it could be. Is Jolie still a BO draw??

They should move it up to the first week of April... that whole month is vacant right now.

I wonder why they always wanna release during the Memorial Day period when it's historically bad for legs.

So X-Men fell 30% from Tuesday to Wednesday. Cap fell 31%. And so far X-Men has made more than Cap the last 4 days in a row.

Because they know how front loaded the X-films have always been. It's a strategy. 4 days of being front loaded > three days of being front loaded.

usually BO Mojo doesn't post partial week numbers.

I pretty much live at that site, lol

I feel like they would get a bigger opening if they released in Nov/Dec. Summer 2016 seems extremely packed.

DOFP isn't suppose to have as great a jump over the weekend as Cap2 so in the end it'll balance itself out.
