Days of Future Past 'Days Of Future Past' BOX-OFFICE worldwide prediction - Part 3

Most blockbusters don't break out in Japan.
Japan is sort of a wild card because for some reason certain movies just take off there -- rare but when they do it's INSANE (ie Frozen getting over $200M). Even Spidey got an odd boost -- $30M compared to Cap2 and DoFP which I believe haven't made more than $10M.

We will see what happens. I never count on Japan to help much and I'm right 90% of the time. If Maleficent breaks out in Japan, great but I won't be the one calling it.

Spidey didn't get an odd boost in Japan. Its generally the most popular western hero there, all prior movies have done well there relative to other CBM.

I meant odd compared to other countries. I know he's popular there so I'm not really surprised. :cwink: (EDIT: or, to try and be more clear, which I really wasn't originally: Spidey is popular worldwide, but for ASM2 to make more than 3x what Cap2 or DoFP have -- that's a huge ratio compared to how those three films have done when you go country by country. They just really REALLY like Spidey over there.)

X-Men: Days of Future Past followed with an estimated $6.2M, down 37%, for $216.8M to date. It is the summer's top-grossing film so far and now stands as the second highest grossing film in the seven-pic X-Men franchise. Look for Past to challenge the $234.4M of 2006's The Last Stand.

$692 million! YAY!

700 million is indeed a lock! Hopefully it will be the highest gross year of 2014 for sometime if it outgrosses Cap 2's worldwide gross.

An addition of 8 million will come from the U.S. and hopefully the overseas numbers will still come in.

From Boxoffice.com:

X-Men: Days of Future Past reeled in another $11.3 million from 47 markets, including Venezuela's $1.7 million first place debut (just 2 percent behind Iron Man 3). Holdover markets Brazil ($1.3m, down only 34%), and the UK ($981K, down only 35%) lift the international cume to an impressive $477.3m. The global total is now $694.3 million.

1.7 million in Venezuela. By comparison, TWS opened to 1.3 million, and ASM2 opened to 1.5m.

YAS! Thats good to hear!

So it will at least earn a final gross of 6 million. Hopefully 10 million or more!

Probably. But I think Maleficent will beat xdofp.

U.S. maybe but worldwide? It is already released in China and so far earned $521 million. Transformers is coming out next weekend to dominate the worldwide box-office. Maleficent is not an animated and a musical film so I don't think it will perform as massive as Frozen in Japan. At best, it might get $50 million in Japan if its a break out hit but I don't think its gonna outgross all CBM movies when it comes to worldwide gross.

I see. Right now, I just want this movie to beat the winter soldier.

my projections

227 million final Domestic - X3 still reigns champion
489 million International - ASM2 is clear champion

Final take -

716 million WW

It will be ranked UNADJUSTED at 89th ALL-TIME JUST BETWEEN ---- drum roll PLEASE!!

Hancock and Bourne Ultimatum

as for the UNADJUSTED INTERNATIONAL ----- drum roll PLEASE!!!!

WILL be #60 ALL-TIME between Gravity and Breaking Dawn Part 1

Also,

#46 on the ALL-TIME Overseas list just ahead of Ghost Protocol

In the brand Marvel Comics it will finish at #11 just behind

X3

and just for fun -

in the Franchise unadjusted total gross this pushes XMEN into 10th place just below the TWILIGHT franchise.

I'll go 227 or so domestic sounds right

Overseas I'm going 492

719 million

I dont think I have seen a single Avenger fan be like that haha

I think he meant TEAM AVENGERS VS TEAM XMEN

which Avengers clearly stomped.

However, XMEN sort of did things backwards.

I wonder what would have happened if the XMEN started with

WOLVERINE (Solo Film)
MAGNETO (Solo film)
CYCLOPS (Solo film)
GAMBIT (Solo Film)

then

XMEN - Team Film

like the Avengers did with

HULK
IRON MAN
THOR
CAPTAIN

then

Avengers - Team Film

would have an XMEN TEAM film score as much as THE AVENGERS did?
