The movie is a success, and most important of all - it was good. It was smart, emotional and satisfying. It managed to wrap the older movies up nicely, give us a good independent story in the process and also get me excited about the sequels without being a cheap cash-grabbing set-up.

I don't remember when was the last time that I've been this satisfied about a sequel and everything - including monetary success and critical acclaim - around it. X2 probably? Bryan Singer absolutely rocks with these movies.

More importantly, it did this.

the 700 Million club

there are only 64 movies ALL TIME to make the 700 WW club

XMEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST IS NOW ONE OF THEM

With today's numbers this should be at just over $220 million by tomorrow morning. Hopefully the weekend will bring in another $3 million and with ~$600-500K days next Monday-Thursday the total will stand at $225 million by Thursday July 3.

By that time it will have lowered the gap with X3 to $5 million.

I went to see it again on Tuesday thinking my movie theater would take it out today, but it's still showing!

I might just watch it yet again next week for the fourth time.

Still at 2k+ theaters heading into the weekend. Thankfully T4 didn't take many theaters away.

I guess it's holding on well enough so some theatres won't drop It.

My theater already has Maleficent down to 3 viewings in 2d, while X-Men has 4 viewings and two of those are in 3d. Seems to be doing good in 3d here in Chicago.

I'm also thinking the reason it's hanging around it because it's bringing in the money. My theater dropped Godzilla, AMWTDITW, ASM and blended. They know what brings in the $ :D.

X-Men still has 5 showings through next Thursday

Yup this is very great news for FOX. Their X-Men Movieverse is now a $3 Billion franchise with one movie passing the $700,000,000 mark.

On top of that it has outgrossed Godzilla (Domestically and WW), Spiderman domestically (and by now WW as well) and it is approaching the WW for Winter Soldier (foreign already outgrossed, though domestically WS still wins, but that is what Apocalypse will be for).

The icing on the cake would be passing the domestic total for the TLS, but that is not really necessary and I am sure FOX is very pleased with these results either way. It is more than I ever expected to see from an X-Men Movie to be honest and in a weird way I feel proud... ;)

I live in Puerto Rico and movies usually only show for 3-4 weeks, so imagine my surprise.

I'm glad this movie has good legs.

DOFP Is leaving my 8 cinema theatre thursday as Is The Fault In Our Sides.

That's good for my cinema to stay this long with the flood of films. After Thursday only
Maleficent will be only may film still playing.

The gap between DoFP and TLS is so narrow it's making me salivate. Yay for it joining the 700 million club (I can't wait to see Singer and Kinberg's tattoos) but beating THS's(domestic unadjusted) is the victory I'm waiting for with bated breath.

Just saw the film again tonight at the Giant Screen cinema in Birmingham (second biggest screen in UK, screen is 72ft by 40ft).

Amazing! And it was in 3D, which was much better than the 3D I saw at the advance/press screening. It worked better in a giant format.

And the cinema was very busy, I was surprised.

(Only downsides: a few people moaned out loud 'Was that it?!' after staying for the end-credits teaser to find it was so short, and two guys argued loudly on the walk back to the parking area about Magneto reprogramming/rewiring the Sentinels as one of them couldn't accept he could do it so he could control them so precisely. Whatever...)

he's not the first person mencioning that. And he's right, lol. Magneto is not a telepath or Forge. So that wasnt realistic-Singer style. But more fantasy style.

I think the story dictated that would happen.

Trask would never make metal Sentinels because he knew about Magneto, so he made plastic ones.

So, then, the only way Magneto can defeat them is to use pieces of metal to smash the plastic apart (which he could have done if they'd chosen that approach) or somehow control them if they wanted to show how awesomely powerful and clever he was.

I think some people forget the part where Magneto stole the plans to the sentinels from the meeting room at the Paris Peace Conference, and the scene where he was studying them with a makeshift projector while he sewed up his own head. He knew what made them tick.

Thanks for mentioning this. This is a key scene. How long was he studying the plans? Probably long enough to figure out the basic info he needed to control the Sentinels. All he needed to do was lace the Sentinels with metal, and move the metal to turn them on. Then as they were attempting to kill mutants, he merely shifted them to shoot humans instead. It's not that hard to understand. And yes, I know a certain amount of 'suspension of disbelief' is necessary, but...duh, we're talking about a world where a man can control people's minds.

Whoo. Are we getting past Winter Soldier worldwide?

What a success. We bring in Apocalypse, Gambit, Cyclops, Jean, and Storm next movie, and this thing could get 800 if it's a good movie!

I never had a problem with Magneto's control over the sentinels. He clearly studied the heck out of those blueprints. His complex machine in X1, and the way he reprogrammed cerebro in X2 showed he is some kind of a genius. He's just not too showy about it like Beast or Tony Stark.:o
