Days of Future Past 'Days Of Future Past' BOX-OFFICE worldwide prediction - Part 4

Its expanding this weekend so yay!

$232 million here we go!

Fox Rides High Over The Success Of X-Men

Revenues at the filmed entertainment division grew 38% to $2.8 billion while EBITDA nearly tripled to $339 million as compared to $117 million reported in the prior year quarter. The studio benefited from the success of X-Men: Days of Future Past, which has so far grossed $740 million in worldwide box-office. Another hit in the quarter was Rio 2, which has so far grossed over $490 million at the box-office globally. Syndication of some of its popular shows further aided the overall growth at the filmed entertainment division.

Fox currently ranks No. 1 with market share of 18.1% at the U.S. box-office. The studio will continue to benefit from its movies in the next quarter as well, driven by the success of How To Train Your Dragon 2 and Dawn of the Planet of Apes. Our 2014 revenue forecast for calendar year 2014 currently stands at $9.21 billion.

I hope GOTG won't beat XDoFP worldwide gross sales.

It would probably beat DOFP in North America but worldwide, it won't. I compared the opening weekends for some foreign countries where GOTG already opened and DOFP has higher opening weekend gross for most of the countries I checked.

So for these summer movies, the top five would end up like this:
North America
1. Transformers
2. Maleficent
3. Guardians of the Galaxy
4. X-Men
5. Planet of the Apes (I think its too late now for the film to outgross DOFP, DOFP already had like 210 million during its 28th day and Dawn has yet to cross the 200 million mark)

Worldwide
1. Transformers
2/3. X-Men or Maleficent
4. Amazing Spider-Man 2
5. ?

Besting 743 mil WW is kind of unlikely for GoTG.

725 mil is probably the best it can get. Although i think it will get around 675-700 mil.

275-300 mil DOM
& 350-400 mil OS

So yeah GoTG isnt looking good for beating XDoFP.

2014 has been 20th Century Foxs year for certain.

X-Men Days of Future Past is the second highest grossing blockbuster.
Rio 2 is #7
Dawn of The Planet of The Apes is #10
How To Train your Dragon is #9

A total or over Two Billion Dollars

They're the studio with the most movies in the top 10 highest grossing. WB in second place with two movies.

X-Men Days of Future Past stands at 91% RT
Dawn of The Planet of The Apes stands at 91% RT
How to Train Your dragon stands at 92% RT
Rio 2 stands at 47%

That may make them the studio with the highest rated overall releases this year as well as highest grossing.

2015 is not looking too good for them, not enough tentpoles. I think they should move Fantastic 4 to August.

I see. That's great to know then. :)

DOFP Is estimated to do 272,000 this weekend push it's domestic total to 232 Million.

The question Is how much more can it make.

Still It's very likely GOTG outgrosses it Domesticly.Overseas and WW Is different stories.

It's funny that some on this thread are concerned over GoTG when just a few weeks ago the GA didn't know who the hell they were. Some even predicted it wouldn't make 300 m WW.

its incredible that a new property like Guardians is doing more than XMen, Spidey, Can and even Transformers in USA right now.

Marvel has opened a big door, so really glad about it

Since I know now nothing about GOTG why should I be glad how GOTG Is doing?

Same thing with teenage mutant ninja Turtles.

If say the mystery 2018 fox marvel film Is spin-off like Gambit or X-force and it gets lost due to MS realsing some film week before what would you say?

Due to what Is happening with merchandize X-men as well as FF are in weaker postion to see films to compate than say DC films which have proven even with a event film they
will run like chickens from any MS film.

Come 2016 we will continue to have Fox VS DIsney battle since APocalypse and Alice In Wonderland sequel will open on same day.Batman V SUperman run like chickens to march and the next Planet of the Apes film will come out In Late July.

They were fools to think that, there was no way GOTG would flop

Well go see the film and you'll learn a bunch.

Pretty much. I felt comfortable in my 450 -500 m + prediction, but I never thought a potential 650 m number was possible out of the gate.

I quite liked GOTG and I was actually one of the ones rooting against it. Good for Marvel!

It sucks that DOFP is now 91% when for the longest time it was at 92.

Anyways, DOFP is already playing in my cheap theatre. It's a lot of showtimes (and daily too I might add) at $4.75 and $3.75 on Tuesdays. Time to get my 4th, 5th and 6th showtimes on. :D

Does this mean the inevitable dollar theater expansion has finally happened?

Finally caught up to Guardians this morning. OMG, that was fabulous. I think my dad and I are going back so we can take my nephew.

And yes, DoFP added 37 theaters this weekend in it's dollar theater expansion. It's also up +45.4% thanks to it. Hopefully we can expand a bit more next weekend.

Very surprised by how well GOTG is doing but very happy for them. Hopefully Apocalypse is a good improvement over the great foundation from DOFP.

It's a well rated 'new' property instead of a rehash or a sequel. I think we should be glad new stuff is doing well, because means we'll continue to get different things. What's not to be glad about is the question? Granted you need to think about the broader picture I suppose.

Saturday I took the bus downtown to see DOFP for the 4th time at the last theater in town playing it - I don't know if my $6 helped put it over the 232M mark but at least I tried. And come to think about it, I don't think it's the cheapest-seat theater in the area, so maybe the film has a little more life in it?
I'm totally jealous that EnDz0n3 gets to see it in 3D if he wants to; it hasn't been available here in 3D since about 2 weeks after it opened I think. BTW how was it in 3D, anyone?
