Days of Future Past 'Days Of Future Past' BOX-OFFICE worldwide prediction - Part 4

I'm planning to see it Monday nite, and 2 more after. Some of my siblings will probably go too. My bro will for sure. We're big Marvel fans. :D

its incredible that a new property like Guardians is doing more than XMen, Spidey, Can and even Transformers in USA right now.

Marvel has opened a big door, so really glad about it

It really is kinda crazy.

For international numbers, we really have to see what Germany, France, Spain, Japan, Italy and China bring to the table as they really effect the box office take.

2015 is not looking too good for them, not enough tentpoles. I think they should move Fantastic 4 to August.

I don't give much thought to Fox's annual performance but since there's a X-Men film this year, its nice to see them land at top for once (well as of now). They are always at the bottom two when it comes to annual box-office gross of the big 6 studios.

And yes Fantastic Four should move!

YAY!

Saturday I took the bus downtown to see DOFP for the 4th time at the last theater in town playing it - I don't know if my $6 helped put it over the 232M mark but at least I tried. And come to think about it, I don't think it's the cheapest-seat theater in the area, so maybe the film has a little more life in it?
I'm totally jealous that EnDz0n3 gets to see it in 3D if he wants to; it hasn't been available here in 3D since about 2 weeks after it opened I think. BTW how was it in 3D, anyone?

Eh, the 3D didn't add all that much. I saw it 3 times in 3D and 3 times in 2D and much preferred the 2D. Honestly, I think GOTG was the only movie I've seen this year that was worth the 3D.

With the expansions of dollar theaters soon. It could still do another 1.5 million or so domestically. This is going to get close to The Last Stand that FOX might want to just keep extending the theater count. Final could be 233 or 234 with about 510 or 511 overseas. For a world wide total of about 743 - 745. Not sure how GOTG (loved the movie) will do world wide, but I kinda want X-Men to be the top grossing superhero film this year world wide.

I didn't notice much difference between 2D and 3D for both movies tbh. At least with DOFP, they had the snow (it looked like it was snowing in the theatre) etc. though you forget it's 3D as the running time of the movie goes by. Just like every 3D movie.

With Guardians nothing stands out (no pun intended) to me. Maybe I have to rewatch it again. Or maybe I'm just too used to watching movies with those obtrusive 3D glasses on

Yeah I get that too. The movie is already successful but DOFP's North American gross getting so close to X3 is so tempting and I'm sure Fox wants the film to outgross X3.

Then I guess it has pretty much finished at box office then.It remains to be
seen if it can get to 233 Million before leaving domestic theatres.

No, it's finished with its international run...not domestic. Has about four, five, maybe six weeks left domestically.

Yeah but it's not making much Domesticly anymore. It remains to be seen if
it can hit 233 million before leaving theatres much less hitting 234 Million.

overseas closed on 8/3/14 according to Box Mojo

Where does it say that? Fox's international actuals are not updated yet for its current movies (Apes, How to Train Your Dragon etc), only estimates are given. Estimates have not been given for DOFP for the past few weekends now, actuals are directly updated when available. I assume if the weekend gross is >1m they don't give an estimate. Still has a couple of million in the tank for overseas. Maybe 2 million.

8/3/14 is just the date of the last overseas update last week. If Rio 2 is still being tracked by Fox, no reason for DOFP to not be. Rio 2 did 250k last weekend, and DOFP did 590k.

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $232,118,585 31.2%
+ Foreign: $511,562,433 68.8%
= Worldwide: $743,681,018

Oooohhh. I thought it would only get to 510+. Very cool.

Anyone think X-Men will get more theatres added this weekend? I still say X3's numbers are within reach :D.

I don't know about the theater expansion (meaning I have no information about it), but DoFP has been picking up the slack from last week so far this week. If it continues like this that I am with you on the possibility of it finally beating X3 (or as I like to call it, The Film That Shall Not Be Named).

suddenly made almos 2m overseas. interesting

My first post in the original box-office thread:

Hmmmm... I'm not sure about this but I voted for $700million! Its the 7th X-Men movie and should pass the $700mill mark! The release date of this film is quite good and I think this movie will have better legs than most of the X-Men films!

And with the international market, X-Men has no big competition at all, its probably the only major film that will come out in its 1st week of release. Then in the next 2 weeks, it will probably beat Hercules and Guardians of the Galaxy simply because X-Men is more well-known in the entire world. Plus 3D tickets are really expensive and it should bloat the box-office numbers!

$250 = Domestic
$450 = International
---------------------
$700 = Worldwide!

$UCCE$$!

Oh by the way, the post of mine was posted when DOFP still had the July release date. My prediction for the domestic number is a bit short but the international numbers made up for it!

Hehe

My 1st prediction was almost SPOT ON !

I predicted 230 mil DOM
and 515 mil OS for a 745 mil WW. :)

I guess i win. hihihihihihi

Even though i made that prediction when we already had the opening weekend it still counts as even then people (somehow) doubted the 700+ potential...

I was one of the few that said 700+ was a lock based on the opening weekend numbers. Which was pretty obvious as far as im concerned. You cant fail the 500+ OS with the biggest OS op. week. of the year. (at that time ahead of CAP2 & TASM2 and to date only Transformers 4 openned bigger OS)

Can't compare overseas opening weekends because DOFP opened in almost all its territories except like 3 on the opening weekend. The rest had more staggered releases, opening in less territories the first weekend and then opening in the rest in the weeks that followed.

Good prediction nonetheless :)

my domestic prediction was higher, but oh well..... maybe Apocalypse. maybe not. whatever

I guess it is still open oversees somewhere. It was assumed it was closed Internationally on 8/3/14 but it updated late. I would assume some smaller countires? Anyone with ideas as to why the late update?

Why DOFP couldn't beat Last Stand was the simple second week drop thanks to our FRIEND Maleficent.
