Decades of Sexual Harassment Accusations Against Harvey Weinstein - Part 3

I really do not understand the adults involved at the time: why did they not denounce to the authorities?
I get it could have been a she said/he said situation but wouldn't it be worth to put pressure on a pedophile?

because production could get shut down and no one gets paid

thats probably the #1 reason

But the parents?
I get not wanting to psychologically scar your child but the damage was already done, as recounted by the actress 25 years later.
I don't know, it's really one of the worst things that a parent could have to face.
Nothing compared to the child obviously.

People should be concerned about both. I don't like this mentality that's ok for false accusations to be disregarded, even if they are a minority of the cases. If someone believes 100% they have done absolutely nothing wrong or the accusations are misrepresenting the events then that person should be heard also.

Yup. Unfortunately, the internet mob won't allow that.

Maybe? But if Hollywood execs decide not to hire him, is that somehow the accuser's fault?

No.

I still don't feel this accusation should merit a cancellation of his show tho, which is what a lot of ppl want right now.

because you don't think Ansari did anything wrong?

that question is what this thread is for

if you don't want to answer it publicly, Im just going to assume youre on his side and leave it at that

I think Ansari did somethings wrong, yes.

And I would like a lawyer sir. My one phone call. A coffee black and a pack of red marlboro.

some things

ok, so you're victim blaming in part

got it

I mean, DeadPresident and I dont get along but at least he is straight up about it

have the courage of your convictions

Sure thing, man. Moving on.

I wonder if that producer lady ever get to James Cameron. He seems really strict about everything that goes on his film sets.

Cameron said that he wasn't aware, but if he had been he would have destroyed the guy.

for as much of a taskmaster that James Cameron is, and the same can be said for Michael Bay they run very tight sets and dont brook disruptions like that

So a 12-year-old girl was being molested on set, and nobody though to inform the director?

Eh, Michael Bay filmed a 16-17 year old Megan Fox in a bikini, and then told her he lost the tape.

Eh, Michael Bay filmed a 16-17 year old Megan Fox in a bikini washing his car and then told her he lost the tape.

he also fired someone the first day of Fox shooting on TF because he was being inappropriate towads her

so yes he goes for the cheesecake, but he seems to understand doing that and harassment are two different things

I don't think it really matters, but in a way, this is all the Weinstein situation. It all stems from it. It's incredible what the Weinstein situation has brought. The amount of accusations and confirmations.

Same happened with the church in ireland, the bbc even the british government.

Sexual exploitation by those with power is nothing new.

Some accusations will be false but most will probably be true (sadly).

I'd like to think that things will change but there will always be those who use their position to dominate others. It's also usually those that love that power who get it. Because that is their desire.

I do think though that if someone has a complaint they should go to the authorities though and it should be kept quiet until there is a prosecution.

Trial by social media is not justice.

Some of you really need to stop the victim blaming crap. Just because someone questions why a woman came back for seconds and didn't leave when she felt uncomfortable doesn't mean they are blaming her... sounds like she was a little interested in the famous man, and he knew it.

Legitimate questions that would also be asked in court. But no, some of you people have to jump straight to things. You know exactly who you are. And I know one of you will completely ignore what I am actually saying and pull out some evasive response acting like I'm the devil.

Considering how cross examination can go in court is exactly why a lot of women don't press charges, that isn't exactly the best example to use.

doesnt change the fact some of you should stop immediately accusing others of victim blaming, especially on a forum where context and attitude is hard to understand because its typed words.

BN for example, he isn't victim blaming.

And as for cross examination... sure i get that... but those are pretty solid questions. She didnt say he didnt let her leave. If she felt uncomfortable... YOU LEAVE. I have a sister. THAT'S WHAT SHE WAS TAUGHT. As many other girls I know... LEAVE. Don't 'stay to watch TV' and give the man more chances to advance. That's simply bad judgment. Apparently, she let him go down on her... She wasn't uncomfortable then, I assure you. This was the 2nd time they hooked up... Was Aziz wrong? Absolutely. But let's not pretend she did the smart thing.

I know I'll get bashed and be called a victim blamer... you can deny what i am saying all you want, i don't care.

All the "what ifs" in this thread are getting annoying. It feels like the ridiculous what ifs that people against the transgendered community tried to come up with when the bathroom thing was a big deal.

Is there any guy on this forum that has ever been falsely accused of harassment or groping at work by a woman they didn't get along with?

I have been accused before. She quickly retracted it, though... We were really good friends actually but she had feelings for me and I was not single. She admitted she wasn't telling to truth... and now... we're still friends.

That's why I'm trying to be middle of the road here and saying people make bad decisions... like staying to watch tv... sending mixed messages... not leaving when you know its not the right environment for you.

I think most people accused, the Kevin Spacey's the Harvey Weinsteins etc truly are monsters that need to face punishment, just as I don't doubt that the vast majority of people on Death Row really are guilty as sin, godless mother****ers who deserve to die for what they've done.

But there is the odd person who is wrongfully accused, wrongfully convicted, and wrongfully executed. It's probably only a small number, a drop in the bucket, perhaps. But if the system allows for even one innocent man or woman to lose their lives for something they did not do then it's not a system I support.

It's the same thing with sexual predators, sex offenders and the like. I don't want a rapist or pedophile to be allowed to function in the same society the rest of us live in, the same society where a lot of innocent people, innocent children are vulnerable. Don't allow these people to interact with the rest of society...shun them, cast them out as the revulsive people they are. I think that revulsion is natural; we as human beings can only take so much horror before we're moved to either rage or tears, and I think the act of rape and violation is such a thing.

But it's important, because we are beings of such fierce emotion that we don't let them get the best of us. When these kinds of accusations are made they need to be looked at coldly and dispassionately, and with the utmost care. The legal system is ****ed up in some ways, especially with how harsh the victims are treated and the archaic definitions used in this modern world we live in and the sad fact that the guilty do occasionally get to go free, and that's something that needs to be fixed. But trial by twitter, whereby everyone is automatically 100% guilty...it's not the way to go about it either. To me that seems equally as falliable as the legal system, probably something that will result in that minority occurrence- innocent people punished unjustly-happen far more often and cause the pendulum to swing too far in the opposite direction.

There needs to be a better way, because if you mark someone as unclean and too revulsive and tainted to be around, turn them into pariahs and basically permentaly mark them when for something they didn't do ...its really just another form of violation.
