The Dark Knight Rises Depp to play the Riddler and Hoffman to be Penguin?

I´m waiting for the Riddler to show up in Nolan´s movies ,, but not played by Depp. i think it has to be someone not that famous, t: like someone said in another post ....

But hell yeah the Riddler is a "must" iin the next movie,

I think after Joker has set such a high bar with TDK, I don't think going the route of casting another bunch of "B-listers" is gonna cut it this time around.

The third movie's gonna need a much bigger hook than bringing in another classic villain into the fray, and casting an A-lister or 2, especially one so popular as Depp would bring in a wide audience. Of course, it's also important to note that it'd really only work if said actor actually embodied the role, and not put out a phoned-in performance.

There definitly cant be no-namers playing villains if the franchise continues, we've already had some great A-listers play the villains so far, so it wouldnt be right to take a step back.

considering the amazing quality of Nolan's two batman films, i would have to say that although depp is a 'high profile' actor, i could see him as a good riddler, because nolan wouldnt allow for him not to be if that makes sense

Obviously its probably fake, but I dont want the Nolan's or Goyer getting any ideas like this from magazines. They should cast according to their script and not because of the studio or public pressure. Besides, I would much rather save Depp for the Joker than the Riddler.

I don't have a link, but I thought it was Chris who hated Penguin.Also Goyer says you can count the Penguin out in any of their films.

I totally agree. But, that being said, it would make some sort of sense to have the riddler in a sequel to TDK...batman being hunted, the GCPD turning to someone such as edward nigma (aka edward nashton) due to his intellectual power to assist in the hunt. but thats just speculation of course...i do kinda hope they go with another villain...I wouldnt mind the talia al ghul suggestion someone made earlier.

This is what I read, too. I never read anything that suggests he hates the character.

And Chris clearly does have limited knowledge of the character if he thinks adapting a short fat guy in a tux with a loaded umbrella would be tricky.

Penguin is one of the more easily adaptable villains. 600 year old Ra's Al Ghul, or a psychiatrist who dresses like a Scarecrow are more tricky.
