The Dark Knight Rises Det Harvey Bullock

The problem is that, besides being hard boiled and Gordon's right hand man, Flass in Begins was sort of as slobbish as Bullock in the animated series. That's why I was saying maybe change Bullock to fit, he is still a heavy set guy, still hates Batman and all vigilantes, still a loud mouth,
but now maybe he is an ex-Green Beret, fight but heavy, clean shaven (just to further distance himself from the Flass in Begins).
I think he is an important character in Batman's world, like Montoya is. but he would have to be changed slightly to distance himself from Flass in Begins.

Not saying this actor should play him, but trying to give a visual example:

Heaven forfend there be more than one overweight cop on the GCPD.

Chazz Palminteri or Mark Ruffalo as Detective Bullock.

Ruffalo might be a interesting since Nolan made Flass fat like Bullock in Begins when in Year One, he was not.

Now Nolan could make Bullock slim like Flass in Year One.

Palminteri is a very obvious choice as he's a chubby Italian/American that's similar looking to Bullock in the comics and BTAS.

John C Reilly for Bullock. I think Nolan could pull a very good dramatic performance out of him.

I can see the cops being a big factor in the story but not the driving force of the plot. I just can't see how they would cast Hardy as Bullock when he's the first NEW cast member to join. Like how Ledger was the first one to join Dark Knight and it's a meaty role.

I can't see Bullock being any bigger than the detectives in the Dark Knight, or it's supporter characters (Lau, etc)

I wouldn't be disappointed if he was playing Bullock , theres things that could be done with it . Either way I hope they can still fit the character in somehow .

Thats not what I meant at all. I was just saying to differ Bullock from Flass in Batman Begins, maybe Bullock could be a little different. More trim perhaps, and clean shaven. It was just a thought.
But watching Dark Knight on TNT four or five times I think they sort of already showed him.

Harvey Bullock

Keith Szarabajka as Harvey Bullock, he was in the Dark Knight movie, a GCPD named Det. Gerard Stephens. But everything he did in the movie screamed Bullock to me. He was tough, put up a trough front, willing to break the rules to rough up the Joker, quick to anger, and ultimately not as threatening as he seems to be [BLACKOUT](the Joker gets the drop on him when he tries to rough Joker up)[/BLACKOUT].

Why didn't they just name Stephens bullock? I get why ramirez wasn't called Montoya due to major differences in character but Stephens and bullock are identical. Hopefully he returns...

one of bullocks defining characteristics is his borderline hatred of batman though, which stephens doesnt seem to have (although maybe thats because they havent come face to face yet)...

I want Bullock in a Batman film someday. So damn bad. You could do so much with him and Batman's dynamic. He's such a great character. He's Gordon's most trusted cop and a good human being, but he doesn't agree with what Batman does. Play that off on film and you have dramatic gold.

I think with batman becoming a "cop killer" that could well change.

I think that Kyle Chandler could easily playing Detective Harvey Bullock.

I really would like to see James Gandolfini as Harvey Bullock. I've heard some awesome choices though over time since Begins (John Goodman, John C. Reily, Ray Winstone, Brendan Gleeson)...but I'd like to see Jimmy G get this role.

Wasnt it reported he inquired into the role of Sal Maroni before Dark Knight really kicked into production but Nolan wanted to go against the type and chose Roberts?
