Katie Cassidy on Black Canary Outfit: 'I Couldn't Be Happier'

"S**t's about to get crazy in Starling city," Katie Cassidy tells WhoSay exclusively, immediately after the first photos of her as Black Canary were released on November 12. However, judging from the badass pics, "crazy" is an understatement.

Just want to say, I think Katie looks GREAT in that outfit. I am fully onboard with her becoming Canary. Only thing is I'm gonna miss the staff weapon that Sara used to use, but who knows maybe Laurel will learn to use it later.

I have to agree. The more I look at it, the less I actually like it. It's okay, but not something I'd call an improvement. Caity's outfits was as close to perfect as you could get. Being faithful to the comic look, yet still practical.

Laurel's outfit is different, to differentiate her from her sister. But it sadly makes her look like a second rate Canary.

I like Saras outfit better as well but I can accept Laurels. Though it wouldn't take much to improve it if they wanted which hopefully they do as the show goes on.

Honestly,the Katie Canary outfit made me think of Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl costume.

That costume - along with the character's overall story - was one of the few things about Batman and Robin that didn't fall flat.

I like Saras outfit better as well but I can accept Laurels. Though it wouldn't take much to improve it if they wanted which hopefully they do as the show goes on.

I hope that they'll at the very least quickly change the boots. The less belts and buckles there are on her, the less she'll look like a dominatrix. She should just wear a pair of proper combat boots. For her first outing, she should just wear more practical gear.

I might be in a minority for thinking this, but there's something about the images of Roy and Laurel in their respective costume reveals that looks a little photoshopped to. I almost feel like with all of the promotional stuff they've shown, they have the actor's head and face placed on top of a generic/conceptual image. It's just something about the lighting that throw it off.

Honestly,the Katie Canary outfit made me think of Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl costume.

Beside them both being primarily black I find them nothing a like. Sara's costume is more batgirl because they are wearing the similar corset.

As far as the wig goes, the character originally started out brunette and used the wig as a disguised before becoming a full fledged blonde and getting rid of the wig and just being public.

Thanks. I wonder if Laurel will eventually ditch the wig as well? Although, Sara also used a long, blonde wig despite having long, blonde hair.

Unsurprising Human Torch opinion is unsurprising.

You can't deny it's generic looking.Caity's wasn't completely comic accurate,but you could at least figure out who she was playing.

Katie's Canary looks like she could be playing anyone.And that's a shame,because if she's "the real" Canary,she should look more like the comic,not less.

(cue the "It's a proto costume/work in progress" comments. )

I think Laurel's costume is cool. It doesn't scream "Black Canary" but it's cool with me. Only thing I miss are the fishnets. I let it go that Sara didn't have the fishnets. But I REALLY wanted Laurel's costume to have fishnets.

I'm hoping we don't see her don a costume until the finale.

Obviously Sara's jacket helped sell the look on hers.
Maybe Laurel's could evolve but I wouldn't really be bothered too much if it didn't.

I like it. It looks cool. Sara's was definitely closer to how it should look, but eh oh well.
I myself am excited to see Laurel as BC. I love the dark lipstick they gave her.

Yeah. I'm not really opposed to Laurel becoming BC (I do REALLY wish that Sara's death hadn't been handled so godawfully though), but this is WAY too quickly. She should be suiting up at the end of this season, at the earliest. Preferably next season.
"Hey viewers, you remember how Oliver and Sara had to go through Hell for fives years, and be trained by some of the biggest badasses on the planet, to get where they are. Remember how Diggle is ex-Special Forces, which explains his badassery. Yeah well forget all of that because Roy and Laurel can become costumed badasses after only a few episodes of mostly-offscreen training."

Pretty sure she will be suiting up closer to the end of the season. Not next week.
