seriously holy **** she looks amazing. she may even have the best costume on the show
She suits up after a couple of boxing lessons ? Jeez
I think the best outfit still goes to Roy.
Everyone keeps acting like the suit has to be used as the culmination of her journey rather than as a part of I.

Because that's what the writers have said.
Like Kickass. He got beat down so fast his first go around. Same with Spider-Man in his early days.Anyone can suit up at anytime, doesn't mean they are great at fighting. In that aspect i don't think it is to soon since Laurel will need skill and suiting up doesn't give it to her magically.
Well, she is the CW girl, that has probably a lot to do with it. Or maybe DC just insists on making Laurel the Black Canary, simply because of her name. No matter how badly she's been written the entire show.

This theory always makes me laugh. I doubt she was forced upon the creators or forced to do anything they didn't want to do with the character. They have said since day 1 that she would have a journey to becoming Black Canary. We all knew it was coming, it was only a matter of when.
1) Roy
2) Oliver
3) Sara
4) Malcolm
5) Nyssa/Laurel
Yes, but it was also a plan they could have dropped. They did so before. This Journey of Laurel just felt terrible to watch, and it's not really getting that much better. Every time you think the character is starting to improve, she screws up again. I just don't believe that her character is someone that the majority of the audience would enjoy to watch become a hero.
I think they did a much better job with Thea's journey, from a girl that feels helpless and always betrayed, to someone who finally gains the strength to never get hurt again.
Why not? As long as she's not considered "one of the best fighters in the DCU" yet and isn't able to wipe the floor with LoA assassins. She suits up after a couple of boxing lessons ? Jeez
I think Katie Cassidy looks good as Black Canary.
I do miss the representation of the fishnet stockings on the pants. Not because I think Black Canary should be fighting crime in fishnets, but because it was a nice homage to the classic comic book costume.
I really like that the costume isn't cleavage baring and that it doesn't have high heels or wedges. I'm tried of seeing all of Marvel's female superheroes (and now DC's Wonder Woman) running around in ridiculously high wedge heels.
My only quibble would be that, similarly to the (Green) Arrow costume, the actor has such impressive biceps that it's a shame that the costume doesn't show them off. Of course, it wouldn't really be realistic (or in Black Canary's case, comic book accurate) to fight crime in a sleeveless costume, but I think it's okay to highlight an impressive physique. The only other quibble would be that all the straps and buckles indicate that it would be time consuming to get in and out of the costume. But, a similar argument could be made about the skin tight leather pants worn by Oliver and Roy (and I wouldn't want to see them replaced with loose fitting pants).
What is the comic book basis for the blonde wig? As far as I'm aware, Black Canary has long, blonde hair in "real life" as well as in her superhero identity. Is the blonde wig meant to be obviously fake looking so that villains think she's hiding differently coloured or differently styled/cut hair (i.e. they believe that she must have short brunette hair)?
That war with the LoA better be saved for a few seasons down the road then. Because if the League comes back to Starling and Season 3, I guess we can't avoid seeing Laurel suit up again. And if she beats League members, I'll probably be face palming so hard, that I have to watch the Episode twice, because I missed so much.
