seriously holy **** she looks amazing. she may even have the best costume on the show

Everyone keeps acting like the suit has to be used as the culmination of her journey rather than as a part of I.

At this point the creators are just forcing this down our throat. They have a hard on for Katie as Black Canary for some reason

Well, she is the CW girl, that has probably a lot to do with it. Or maybe DC just insists on making Laurel the Black Canary, simply because of her name. No matter how badly she's been written the entire show.

Cool Canary costume but... don't fingerless gloves defeat the purpose of having a secret identity?

Woah, nice ^^.

During season 2 if you had told me she was going to become BC in season 3 I wouldnt have been able to see it. But her arc and the look of that costume is totally doing it for me.

Anyone can suit up at anytime, doesn't mean they are great at fighting. In that aspect i don't think it is to soon since Laurel will need skill and suiting up doesn't give it to her magically.
Like Kickass. He got beat down so fast his first go around. Same with Spider-Man in his early days.

This theory always makes me laugh. I doubt she was forced upon the creators or forced to do anything they didn't want to do with the character. They have said since day 1 that she would have a journey to becoming Black Canary. We all knew it was coming, it was only a matter of when.

Of course I have maintained since day 1 that they never should've made Laurel into a damsel in distress and had her be Black Canary since day 1 or introduced the character at a later point. If they wanted a common love interest they should've used Bonnie King who is a fairly established Green Arrow character and somewhat of a love interest to him very briefly who becomes inspired by Arrow to become Arrowette. Would've been PERFECT and then they could've killed the character off and make way for Black Canary.

I think the best outfit still goes to Roy.

I agree, though I HATE his hood, it just makes him look ridiculous. I wish he could go hoodless and he would look a lot better.

Outfit is nice, but it doesn't conceal her identity as well as Sara's did. Needs a better wig.

Yeah she has a really distinctive face, though i guess they are just going to go with Clark Kent syndrome.

Also agree with the wig, it is ok but it looks cheap and flat, Saras looked legit.

Yes, but it was also a plan they could have dropped. They did so before. This Journey of Laurel just felt terrible to watch, and it's not really getting that much better. Every time you think the character is starting to improve, she screws up again. I just don't believe that her character is someone that the majority of the audience would enjoy to watch become a hero.

I think they did a much better job with Thea's journey, from a girl that feels helpless and always betrayed, to someone who finally gains the strength to never get hurt again.

They could have dropped it but they had no plans to just to appease fans who dislike the character. It would also make them look bad when it was a major signing on point for an actress to take the job. They are the ones who screwed up the character and now they have to make up for it by trying to do the right thing by her finally.

I actually really like the wig. Cassidy makes for an attractive blonde.

I honestly almost forgot she's wearing a wig. It looks more like she just dyed her hair completely blond. She just doesn't look that different from how she normally looks. I agree that she needs a bigger wig.

1) Roy

2) Oliver

3) Sara

4) Malcolm

5) Nyssa/Laurel

Laurel's suit is more practical, do you prefer Sara's cleavage or something? :hehe:

Yeah right, because Oliver didn't screw up by letting Malcolm live, starting a war with Ra's Al Ghul, not telling Thea the whole truth... oh wait, he's still screwing things up, what a terrible character!! And Thea is now a freaking liar too, she's screwing up again, awful!! :whatever:

The main characters are flawed and keep making mistakes, but the one that has killed many people is Oliver Queen, he's not going to get a pass because he's the main lead or whatever.

Anyway, the people not liking several things from the CWverse should be happy the DCCU and DCTVU are separate, if WB ever decides to use Green Arrow and Black Canary in the movies, they will get better actors like they're doing with the Suicide Squad, Arrow's version is going to become a joke once the movie cast is confirmed.

I think Katie Cassidy looks good as Black Canary.

I do miss the representation of the fishnet stockings on the pants. Not because I think Black Canary should be fighting crime in fishnets, but because it was a nice homage to the classic comic book costume.

I really like that the costume isn't cleavage baring and that it doesn't have high heels or wedges. I'm tried of seeing all of Marvel's female superheroes (and now DC's Wonder Woman) running around in ridiculously high wedge heels.

My only quibble would be that, similarly to the (Green) Arrow costume, the actor has such impressive biceps that it's a shame that the costume doesn't show them off. Of course, it wouldn't really be realistic (or in Black Canary's case, comic book accurate) to fight crime in a sleeveless costume, but I think it's okay to highlight an impressive physique. The only other quibble would be that all the straps and buckles indicate that it would be time consuming to get in and out of the costume. But, a similar argument could be made about the skin tight leather pants worn by Oliver and Roy (and I wouldn't want to see them replaced with loose fitting pants).

What is the comic book basis for the blonde wig? As far as I'm aware, Black Canary has long, blonde hair in "real life" as well as in her superhero identity. Is the blonde wig meant to be obviously fake looking so that villains think she's hiding differently coloured or differently styled/cut hair (i.e. they believe that she must have short brunette hair)?

She suits up after a couple of boxing lessons ? Jeez
Why not? As long as she's not considered "one of the best fighters in the DCU" yet and isn't able to wipe the floor with LoA assassins.

I hope that journey is still long and we'll see her train more.

That war with the LoA better be saved for a few seasons down the road then. Because if the League comes back to Starling in Season 3, I guess we can't avoid seeing Laurel suit up again. And if she beats League members, I'll probably be face palming so hard, that I have to watch the Episode twice, because I missed so much.

Wedged Heels are a good inbetween imo, esp if the actress isn't that tall.

As far as the wig goes, the character originally started out brunette and used the wig as a disguised before becoming a full fledged blonde and getting rid of the wig and just being public.

Roy is already there after such a short time, she might as well be. Though I rather they do a time jump if anything.
