Arrow Dinah Laurel Lance/Katie Cassidy Thread - Part 1

So it is pretty much a given that Quentin and/or Ted Grant will bite it at some point. Any significant character attached to Laurel gets offed to further her storyline.

I enjoy the hell out of the show but the writers need to stop using the "death as a motivator" crutch. Which btw they completely ruined Tommy's death with that pill addiction/alcohol depression storyline last year.

Don't pair her up with another male character, romantically, until she at least completes becoming Black Canary.

Make her really earn the title of becoming the next Black Canary without forcing it onto her.

No more over-the-top crying scenes.

If laurel is going to be BC they use her comic name Dinah instead of Laurel

If she and wildcat does have some romantic relationship it might not last as she would be better focus on training

I hope she do not leave the da office in order to become a full time hero. I could see it similar to daredevil lawyer by day hero by night

how would you make Laurel likeable?

1) Make her a hero
"You Catch 'Em I Cook 'em" Show her being a heroic lawyer in the courtroom, make it cool, if necessary steal some of the best bits from Law & Order/Boston Legal/Judge Judy or what have you.

2) Give her a personal life
We used to spend a lot of time in Laurel's apartment, but... we still don't know who this chick is, what she does when she's not addicted to something. We know about Dig's home life, we know about Felicity's personal life from her mumbling, we know all about Thea and Roy. Who the heck is Laurel Lance outside of her relationship with the rest of the main cast? Perhaps making her a workout-aholic as many recovering addicts are makes sense, perhaps a love interest in a trainer, or something?

3) Have her kick butt physically
Let her beat up some folks with Bamford, and honestly, people will get on board pretty quickly. Most people that read the comics could care less about what Dinah Lance does when her mask is not on.

4) Show why Sara died.
Perhaps there was some secret reason that Sara was in town the night she died, reveal that, helps take some edge off the 'Laurel killed Sara' feeling some folks have.

5) Deliver on the previous seasons
If you can tie what Laurel's been through during previous seasons into a neat package, it can almost make it seem like she was a better character then than she was. Delivering on the addiction, on the lawyering, tying those together and funneling it all into a place where you say "of course the ex-addict lawyer would end up being Black Canary, it was inevitable." If you can pull that off, Laurel would become my favorite character.

lol really? You are putting non-character off screen deaths on Oliver? There was only one character that died in the earthquake, Tommy. The other people are just some arbitrary number, not characters.

Geez, Laurel is like a black widow, so many sacrificing their lives so she can get development.

Agreed. Part of the reason Laurel feels bland and uninteresting is because she looks bland and uninteresting. Even her apartment is decorated with shades of brown.

If she dons the mask, don't have her immediately go to Arrow, let her cut her teeth on her own and let her want to do it that way. No more whining. No more playing the victim. The addiction stuff was a non-starter but let her embrace the AA stuff in a admin kind of position. NO MORE EFFING SPEECHES. All her dialog is so over-written, and Cassidy is not handling it well.

They also need the consistent tone for her.Is she altruistic goody goody,or play it under the table, devious?Pick one and stick to it for heaven's sake.

Too late for that, unless they make their current Ted Grant the son of the first one, we'll see.

As long as they show Dinah Laurel training, evolving and kicking ass, it should be fine.

Would it be better if Laurel start to lose faith in the legal/justice system with criminal getting off easy or sentence too short.......she decide to become a crime fighter taking the law into her own hand and take down criminal who escape the legal system with no problem. I hoping they add this to Sara death because so far she will be driven by revenge
